I've never reviewed on Yelp before but I thought this was worth sharing. Up until today I would have given this place a 5 star review, I've been bringing my personal vehicle and work vehicles here for years. I brought in my car for a smog check this afternoon and the guy working at the shop refused to smog my car. He said my obd2 connector was missing and asked if I knew where it was. I didn't and I explained I've I brought the car in to them for the past 3 years. He handed back my paperwork and said I needed to get it fixed, I tried to ask if this was something a mechanic would have to fix or a repair shop that does smog, he just said yeah I don't know I just can't smog this until it's fixed. He was rude, seemed annoyed I was there, and was not helpful at all. Maybe because it was 5pm and they close at 6pm he just didn't want to do it? Maybe he didn't know what he was doing? To that point, I brought it across town to 15 min smog on Sacramento ST and they hooked up my car and got it done for $20 cheaper in a few minutes. They also cleaned my windshield while I was waiting and were super nice! I mentioned what the guy at 7 days a week smog said and the mechanic said he had never heard that before and his best guest was the guy didn't actually know what he was doing. Anyways maybe they changed ownership recently but with so many other places that do Smog I would recommend avoiding this place. read more

7 Days A Week Smog Test - Outdoor seating with plants - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Berkeley, California

Good guys, honest work, quick service. This has been our go-to spot with our past 3 vehicles.

Friendly employees, quick service and a nice seating area for while you wait. These guys make the smog check process so painless! *Bonus* they left me some Ghirardelli chocolates in with my receipt. Way to guarantee I'll be back in two years, guys! You're the best! read more

They don't want your business. Arrived an hour before they were scheduled to close and the dude told me 'he turned off the machine' and could not do a smog check. There are many other places to choose from. Skip this spot. They don't care about customers. If you go here, they have a much better price through Groupon. read more

Returning to California with my motor vehicle, and I needed a SMOG test (regular, not STAR) to get my car re-registered. My dad sent me on a wild goose chase on San Pablo Ave. and Harrison/Gilman on a Sunday morning with a cash-only paper coupons, $25, and no names for these businesses (or phone numbers for that matter). No surprise they were closed. Yelp and good reviews to the rescue! I saw 7 Days a Week Smog Test, filtered to know they were open on Sundays, called, and basically walked in. It took 9 minutes for them to test my car and just under 20 minutes for end-to-end process. They had outdoor and indoor seating, free beverages (coffee, tea, soda water, etc.), and crackers. They might have had wifi... Basically, they couldn't honor the $25 cash-only, but they did say $25 + $8.25 and even let me pay with American Express. I thought that quick service turn around was pretty good. I'm sure they'd honor the same deal for you if you mentioned Groupon, as they have a deal there. So anyhow, I was pleased at the quick and expedient service on a Sunday morning. I would recommend this group as it seems more straightforward than all these other cash-only, not internet-savvy places. read more

Awesome customer service! My car did not pass the test the first time because one vacuum tube was loose. The staff kindly offered me a discount for the 2nd time. After spending $5 at O'Reilly and less than 1 min to replace that broken tube, hooray! My car passed smog check :D Thanks to the amazing staff @ 7 days a week smog test. read more

Do NOT take your car here if it is old. I had to smog my 1986 Civic Si. It passed just fine but they failed be because they couldn't find the timing mark. Okay, fair enough, doesn't seems like a problem. So I take it to my mechanics shop and we clean the pulley and find the marks (very easily). I take it back the next day for my free retest and the guy accuses me of tampering with it and won't retest it until I get a new pulley. That's when I said screw it and took it to another smog place, they passed me just fine. Cheaper to retest it than to get a used pulley... go figure. Bottom line if your car is new I bet they are okay but for a car that needs to be put on the dyno it seems to be out if their league. I also saw another review saying the same thing about them not being able to find a timing mark... poor mechanics imo. read more

Fantastic: Called on a Saturday morning, had an excellent phone experience, greeted at my vehicle as I pulled in, there is an outside sitting area with tables and an umbrella, an inside one with a line of (free) internet PCs, teas, coffee ... and the scrolling screen saver on every PC said to the tune of 'help yourself to a soda pop in the fridge' and I did. Perfecto. read more

7 Days A Week Smog Test - Candy, pens, magnets, FRISBEES! - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Berkeley, California

2014 update - 7 days a week smog sent me a postcard on my smogaversary. The Taco (no longer known as the baboon) passed smog with flying colors! We were in and out in under 1/2 an hour. I couldn't figure out how to get the hot water to work in the waiting room so I was punished by sitting in the lovely patio area sans hot cocoa. I could have asked for help, but 1. I'm a guy and 2. hot chocolate wasn't a necessary today as it was lovely outside. Conclusion: Great, fast service. I'm possibly stupid. read more

I had found this place on yelp, and it seemed to have great reviews! So when I received the letter from the DMV requiring me to do a smog check - 7 Days A Week Smog Test seemed like the natural choice. I made sure to get there as soon as they opened - b/c let's face it, no one wants to sit there all day for something that doesn't take that long. Needless to say, I was the first person there. I was promptly greeted by Damien and he got started on my car right away!!! He helped me get in and out very quickly and efficiently! I explained to him that I had recently moved to the bay, and asked him for recs for where I should take my car for any basic service needs and he was more than happy to give me a few recs! They were wonderful here, and I highly highly recommend their services! read more

Has anyone NOT given this place 5 stars? This place deserves it. Those valuepak mailers had coupons for 3-4 different places, but with these types of reviews, I knew this place deserves my business. Excellent service ... in and out in about 10 minutes. I didn't even have a chance to enjoy the oatmeal, internet, beverages, snacks. I would recommend this place to anyone. Also .... right before I pulled in, I noticed what appeared to be a homeless lady waving a sign to get your attention. If she's making a few bucks this way ... bravo. Bravo to the both of you. read more

Easy, pleasant service, honest, nice indoor and outside waiting areas. Best place for smog check I have used! Thank you!

Genuinely nice guys here that get the job done. No muss no fuss, internet and snacks while you wait. What more can you ask for when the STATE of CALIFORNIA has its hand in your pocket again. These guys take the hassle out of the dubious process. Love em' BTW mention yelp and get 20 bones off, now if they could only run the state for us. read more

This place is extremely professional, friendly, and efficient. I was in and out of there fast as can be. After a horrible experience down the street at a different smog place I was happy to walk into a respectful, professional place who won't try to cheat people. Definitely recommend going here. read more

The business is clearly marked from the road. Signs direct you where to park which is great. I was greeted by the technician Scott and directed to the desk. The paper work was straight forward and easy to fill out. Scott gave me what I felt was an honest estimate of how long the process would take and for me to be back on the road. The waiting room is nice and has free coffee (sugar and cream), hot chocolate, soda, tea, and crackers. There is free wifi with signs indicating the password. After 35 minutes, exactly what Scott promised, my vehicle was ready. I paid the amount due and received my copy of the test that was also sent to the dmv. I recommend this place to anyone in the Oakland Berkeley area in need of a smog check. A++ work! read more

We brought our 4Runner here for a smog check on a Sunday afternoon. We were helped immediately. The person helping us was very friendly and told us that it would be done in 25 minutes. He asked us how we heard about their shop and we told him that we found them on Yelp. They had a current promotion on Yelp where you get $20 off if you mention them. We were not aware of this. Very pleasant surprise. Total cost afterwards = $54 They had a nice chairs/umbrella setup outside with magazines where customers could wait on a warm day which it was today. There was sitting inside as well for cooler days. We waited maybe 15 minutes which flew by quick while relaxing outside in the seating area. Will upload a photo. Our car passed smog. Best experience we've had at a smog place. Friendly service, clean garage, knowledgable, nice customer waiting area, and just made us want to come back again to them even they are not in our local neighborhood. Definitely worth the drive. Thank you!!! We will be back. read more

Got here bright and early and I pulled into the back lot.. They are so quick the guy was already at my car as I was getting out. (I actually kinda screamed because I was surprised... And let's face, I'm just jumpy) Signed in and he said it would be 20-30 minutes. They have a little indoor waiting room with coffee, tea, soda and cookies. It also has free wifi, and a desktop computer in the room for customers to use. (Cool..!) They also have a little outdoor waiting area patio that is super nice if you want to sit out in the sun with an umbrella. $79 - Standard price -$20 - mention yelp ---------------------------- $59 - out the door They were unbelievably nice, professional and courteous. read more

These folks are the best. I've been going here for 25 plus years, never disappointed. And I drive in from SF! Keep it up!!

I drove all the way from Bile Vallejo to get my car smog on a Sunday with my Groupon but after I arrive the gentleman tells me that they don't except Groupon's on Sunday. This is not stipulated in the instructions for the Groupon. He said I should have called yet on the Groupon you're not required to make an appointment so why would I called if they're open seven days a week they should except their Groupon seven days a week. I couldn't get my car smog before the registration ran out because someone stole my catalytic converter and I had to have that replaced. But this guy even though there was only one car in front of me refused to take me because he said he was busy there was not a line of cars waiting to get their car smog so I don't understand how he could've been busy! read more

As far as smog goes this place is not too bad. Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. I did have to go back for a re-test due to my car needing a catalytic converter, but it did pass, yeah! What was nice was the fact that I was able to walk over to Cafe Trieste and enjoy my day while they were checking my car, but they'll see you right away if there's not a wait. This is a test only place and will not work on your car if need be, you must find an outside mechanic. But to my eyes they did seem like they did a proficient job. I really hate dealing with smogging my cars. CARB sucks! But that's a whole nother story. read more

Selling my car and needed to get it smogged. This place is open on a SUNDAY and it was only 57$ to get it smogged because it was 1996 or newer. PLEASE NOTE: As of 07/26/08 this business is no longer offering a discount for mentioning Yelp. A smog check now costs a flat fee of $79.00 Great service, friendly staff, free snacks in the waiting area, and free WiFi make this one of the most comfortable auto service establishments I've ever visited. Even though they were short-staffed that day and there were 2 people in front of me, it took about 20 minutes for me to get in and out, with absolutely no hassle at all. I just gave them my keys and the smog certificate thingie I got in the mail, and they came back 20 minutes later to have me sign a form and I was out the door. Overall this was my best experience at a smog check shop, I just wish they were still giving that discount for mentioning Yelp. read more

Apparently their posted hours of 8am-6pm are inaccurate. I drove in the rainy dark to get there before 6pm. Arrived at 5:35pm. Lights on, machines obviously ON in the garage. Some guy was there, but noone else. I drove up, and he says, "Sorry, we are closed. We take the last car at 5:30pm. The machines are off." The test takes 15 minutes. Really? Why does everything say you close at 6pm then? And why do I see the test screens on? Also, are you seriously unable to turn a machine back on? Apparently not. wth. read more

We called in ahead and thought it was packed. When we showed up, there were a few cars on the side, but the bays were empty. We sat for about 5 minutes, but the whole process was less than 5. It's very efficient. I also used the $20 discount. read more

This place really is "as good as it gets!" I highly recommend this place. The guys here were super cool, and very quick with the smog test. Paper work was whipped up in a snap, and I was on my way. No problems, no hassles. I was even able to use a promotion here through Yelp at the time. Sweet! Literally bam bam....done. Not that you have to wait long, but the waiting area was comfortable, as they had computers available to surf the net, refreshments, out door sitting area, and weights to work out. The guy there also pointed me out to the nearest DMVs to pay my registration, suggesting that I head to the El Cerrito location due to an "easier wait time"....which he was right. read more

Professional, pleasant and proficient! And they offered a coupon in Groupon! Highly recommend.

I used to love this place...must have changed hands. It was 64 dollars for my 2015 Prius. I gave the man at the counter (the same one pictured in Susan S's review) my 20 dollar off coupon and he said that price included the coupon. It was raining and my smog result was due in 3 days and I was the only one there being tested, so I stayed. I tried to go into the lounge but a large, young male ( I'm a woman in my seventies) had taken over the lounge. He was watching a computer video and had the heat cranked up to about 80 degrees. When I asked him if I could turn it down he balked. I asked him if he was cold and he said yes. I got my umbrella and walked to the post office to mail a letter. I will never go back to this place. Must have changed hands. read more
