I visited on May 25th and wrote this that day but did not post it because I was torn as most of the girls were so kind and it was a less busy salon. I also wanted to go back and receive the paraffin treatment that I did not receive and paid for included in the $65 spa gel pedi package. It was promised to me upon leaving on the same date because the way the services were rendered was all over the place and with three different people after the "experienced" nail tech refused to do the spa part, like if it's below her or something and she refused to rub my feet specifically because I watched her do other people! She was acting weird with me from the very beginning and I was kind to everyone!! So she got one of the less experienced girls to do it, and instead Anita stepped in and did it. The owner, Anita said to come back in 4 weeks for it. Well I went back on Aug 3 and put in the notes that a complimentary paraffin treatment was supposed to happen from the last time. Mind you, through the app they set up a profile for me from last time (May 25th appt.) and when I went to rebook this month I noticed the pricing breakdown as $50 for pedi, $15 for spa, and the highest price $30! for nail art (double French or something like that) Okay, what I had asked for vs. what I got was only thin lines drawn on free hand by a thin brush with many colours across only three nails, one being my big toe on the right foot and the other two middle toes on the left, then all other nails were different colours cute summer colours including the trending turquoise. By no means were there intricate designs or even jewels put on but the price was bumped up to $95 for a pedi?!? The design was difficult for this particular tech I guess, as she tried to persuade me not to do it the second time I came while rolling her eyes and making funny faces like I was hassling her by asking questions. Of course I inquired about the bump in price, and she then agreed that I could pay the same price. Keep this in mind as you read...also the MANI-PEDIS W/ NAIL ART page of the website is totally cringe. I'm almost certain the nail tech wrote it *rolls eyes*. Needless to say I won't be back, they are an inexperienced salon (read about my experience in NY for comparison) if you like that, then go here! Anita is kind but has the ability to switch up on you depending on the nail tech attitude. I think she really runs the place...lol. Anyway, I digress. Enjoy the read below. It's long but please do take a deep dive if you have time. Trust me, it will help you decide. May 25th visit: Hhhmmm, so let me start with the positives. Most of the staff are very kind, except one who I could do without, then the rest tend to follow behind whatever she says even though you are treating everybody kindly. But hey, some people mistake kindness for weakness, especially when they are insecure about what they bring to the table. But hey, I did my best to keep my cool and not her back the same weird attitude she was giving me. This person, who I assume has a certificate from George Brown (so does the owner, hanging on the wall) is the nail tech and her nail art was just okay. I think she was more pleased with it than I was but if I send a message with a photo and ask if you can do something and the person in the other end replies "Yup, no problem", well that's what I'm thinking. Anyway, the girl that did my nail art was very unsure as to IF she could even do it. I asked if I could pick something else then but she said she'd try in this iffy way, it was weird. Honestly, it was subpar as well as her customer service. I mean if you're not going to talk to me I'm not talking. Like this is your job, not mine. She talked up the women she was doing before me and after, so that was a choice. Not sure what her problem is. Here's me trying to engage her by saying oh it looks nice. I ended up acting pleased because she had an attitude and seemed like she liked her subpar work more than I did. I just went with it, I didn't feel like being rude as it was my birthday. But when she ripped the toe nail splitter off my left foot, I had to give a slight warning and under my breath and I said "don't p*ss me off" so that she knew she should relax. PLUS she kept switching the curing machine abruptly from one foot to the other foot, but at times not turning it on. So ladies if you're not paying attention, then your gel nail polish is not getting cured properly and most likely won't last long for the money you pay. I also had to tell her that the machine was not on. She was just very abrupt at times and i don't like that! She was rude and passive aggressive, for what reason? I'm not sure. I probably should have given her less of a tip and the owner more since she was more attentive but I wasn't sure how they were going to split it. Very attentive. Very friendly, small shop, maybe 4-5 pedicure chairs but only 2 people working. Not enough polish options. Able to make appointment quickly, same day. It was $60 for gel pedicure including gel removal. read more

My shellac nail experience was absolutely atrocious. Beware! Misleading pricing that came out to be 90$ for shellac with terrible "nail art" that started peeling after a week, and cracking after 2 weeks. They told me to go in a certain time, but they had me waiting for an hour. So once it's finally my turn, I showed the nail tech the picture I wanted. She said no problem, but she totally struggled, had to redo a couple of times on her own and she was getting frustrated. The end product looked like it was done by a 5 year old... not only that, no after care of cuticle oil and lotion. They just rushed me out. Final nail on the coffin is that the whole shellac job lasted 2 weeks only- bottom peeling after a week, and my index nail cracked after 2 weeks. Now I have to go find another salon to fix them!! Never ever returning again. Also, they never tell you how much they actually charge for nail design add-on and very misleading. They charged me 90$ for something that looks like a 5 year old did it and only lasting for 2 weeks. read more

This is now my favourite spot for getting nails done. The owner is absolutely delightful and the staff are more than accommodating. They took their time when doing my nails and the results absolutely reflect that. Just for reference, I had a shellac mani and regular pedi ($55). I also was given great advice for better hand and foot care, which I appreciate since I tend to get calluses from running and my skin tends to dry out easily. read more

In trying to find a new salon, I ended up sending a message via yelp to 6ix Nail Salon to book an appointment for later that day. Super responsive and friendly and I had high hopes that this would be my new salon. I was there for almost 3 hours, which included over an hour to carefully remove my old acrylics without damaging my natural nails. After chatting about it, the ladies recommended biogel instead of acrylic. While removing my existing set, they mentioned that the biogel was "very very hard to remove" in comparison to the acrylic (which are super hard to remove). I expected the the set would be long lasting based on their recommendation. The salon isn't huge but is well appointed with a large tv streaming Netflix. The time flew by because I was so wrapped up in watching Friends! I had a few people working on my nail removal but one very nice woman who did the biogel. Upon leaving the salon I was quite happy with my experience. I felt like I was in someone's home the entire time. The staff are wonderful and meticulous with their work. It's been two weeks since I had my set on and unfortunately, my experience with the nails has been sub par. Less than a week in and my index finger had a giant chip down to the nail tip. My index finger on my other hand started to chip at the base of the nail near the cuticle. Next, my thumb has a giant chip of its own near my cuticle. And today, the entire middle finger released from my nail bed and I had to reglue it back on. Minutes after posting this review, another nail came off and another one won't be far behind it. I spend a lot of time on my nails and I do my own acrylics on occasion. I spend a lot of time examining my nails and adjusting after I get a manicure, so I do have high standards. At first I thought it was an issue with the biogel and frankly, mainly it IS the product. It's just not a strong enough product compared to the wear and tear I get with regular and dip acrylics. However, the application and shaping of the biogel is uneven. Some nails are very thin, some have next to no curvature and many have biogel that was against my cuticle and that's caused the nails to lift. I chose a light pink color and the application is uneven and spotty, but it's the color I chose and perhaps the polish formula itself. But it's visibly uneven on my nails and I wish they'd put down a white or neutral very solid color to even the polish color out. With every fibre of my being I want to love this salon and give them 5 stars. But my set was around $80 and two weeks later its broken and I've had an entire nail fall off. I'm reluctant to return to get it fixed because I'm so unhappy with the set and I don't have three hours to get it redone before I leave for vacation. Lastly, I booked for a full set AND a pedicure and I didn't get the pedi. After three hours I was ready to leave, so I didn't ask, but they should have had me soak my nails while getting the pedi. read more

This was probably one of the top nail salon experiences i've had in Toronto! I was looking for places nearby to get my old acrylics removed and found this place on yelp. I was very happy when I saw that I could book through yelp because it's very convenient. I booked an appointment for acrylic removal and shellac manicure, I arrived a little early but i was immediately greeted and seated. See, the thing about my old acrylic set is that it was super thick. I really appreciate Anita being accommodating and suuuuper patient with my nails. It was a lot of effort but she did a really great job removing them! Melissa did my manicure and she did a lovely job as well! All the staff there were also very friendly! I really enjoyed the conversations and I appreciate Anita's husband for offering me some tea! :) I'm very satisfied with the results and the hospitality, thank you so much! I'm hesitant to write a review because I'm worried that if too many people like this place, it will just get too busy for appointments... Nevertheless here I go. If you think you know what customer service is, you do not ...and you need to come here to experience it. The ladies that work here are warm, friendly, and very caring. I have never been to a salon where they care about my nails as much as I do. Most salons care about the end result, for the nails to look pretty but they don't care about how they treat your nails. Roughness can be covered up with enough gel or coating, which is really not good and not what you should want or accept. Anyhow, I asked them for shellac removal and regular mani and I absolutely don't mind that it took longer than normal because my nails look and feel like I've never had shellac. The removal was gentle and they really ensured that my nails stay healthy and not all scratched up and uneven. The manicure was lovely, delicate and careful. Massage, hot towel the whole nine yards. There is nothing I would change or improve. End result was simple, clan and pretty. At one point the ladies asked everyone in the salon if anyone would like Tim Hortons coffee and one of them did a run. How thoughtful is that? I should also mention that once a client walks in they always offer bottle of water. I made the appointment via Yelp booking at 11pm and they responded within minutes that they will book me in first thing in the morning. That was very surprising and I am greatful for how easy it was to book their services. It case I haven't made it clear yet, I highly recommend this salon :) read more

I went to 6ix Tips today (it's around the corner from my office), and I was SO satisfied with the service I received. First off, I had made my appointment via Yelp's messaging system which is so convenient when I'm at my desk all day. Once I walked in, the ladies of 6ix Tips were so welcoming, and warm. They knew I was the appointment, and knew what I wanted right away. Eleni (I hope I'm spelling her name right) was thorough with each step, and made the appointment super comfortable. When she asked what color I wanted for my fill, I agreed with a neutral nude, and she provided different colors that she thought would look good against my skin tone (NO one has ever gone above and beyond like that), and moved forward with swatching each color on my nails so I could make an satisfied choice. I made a same-day reservation on Yelp and was impressed with the salon's prompt reply and accommodation. The salon was clean, quiet (with music and a TV on low), and did not smell strongly of chemicals like many other budget-friendly nail salons do. I was quite impressed with the care and attention Anita gave to her clients. She was detailed and kind - and gives a wonderful foot massage too! This was my first visit and I was very impressed. This place is a gem! It recently went through a refresh and the place is bright and super clean. Staff are very friendly and have excellent attention to detail. Walked out with the best pedicure I've had in ages. They use a lovely scrub, provide great leg and foot massage, and use a hot towel before polish application. Great colour selection and polish brands (OPI, CND, Beyond). They also offer shellac and bio gel, although I have not had these services so can't provide feedback. Also offers waxing and threading, of which the staff are always gentle and thorough. Will make this place my new go to, as I've been to others in the area and the experience and end results have always fallen short for me. My new go to salon! I've gone to about 20 nail salons across this city and it's always the same story, nail techs that rush you out to try and squeeze as many people in a day as possible. This place did not do that at all. I went here with a friend to take her to get her first ever set of nails and the girl who did our nails was incredibly patient, kind and most importantly attentive! She clearly took pride in her work and consistently checked the nails throughout the process to make sure things were even and symmetrical. I came in with a set I got from another salon that was thick, clumpy and uneven and she took the time to give me a refill that was a complete 360 from what I came in with. I came here the other day wanting a refill but unfortunately the technician that does refills was not in. Anita (owner) was very apologetic about it and offered another service but I desperately needed my nails done so I had to go. Even though she couldn't service me, you could tell she was still very sweet. Great customer service, the people that work there a really kind and nice. However, my bio gel nails got ruined within 2 weeks, after a week of having them done 3 of the tips broke off, I went and they fixed it no problem, free of charge too! Then a few days later 2 more broke off unfortunately I don't have the time to keep going back and getting them done. Bio gel nails are also expensive and should last at least 2 weeks. read more

Great new management, seem to really care about the client and offers a lot of tips and advice. the lady that did the biogel wasn't there so I think the nails could've been a tiny bit more professional but all in all a great experience. read more
