647 Coffee is a beautiful and spacious spot with tons of seating--perfect for groups to gather, work, or just hang out. The artwork adds a nice creative touch, and I really love that it appears to be a nonprofit making a positive impact in the community. The coffee itself wasn't my favorite--it's not bad, but it has a strange aftertaste that didn't sit well with me (though I acknowledge that could just be a matter of personal preference). Wi-Fi was tough to connect to, and I felt a bit unsure about its security. The surrounding neighborhood seems rough, with visible drug activity. But honestly, that's part of why I appreciate this coffee shop even more. It's planted in a place that clearly needs light and support--and it's trying to be just that.

An absolute perfect working space, I spent the entire day here with my laptop and my headphones and at least three cups of their excellent coffee. It's a cool space with lots of seating, lots of power outlets and a wifi that worked really well. I was super impressed and enjoyed the time. Coffee was excellent and the chocolate chip cookie I had with my second cup was delightful. When I'm back in Akron, I'll be working from here! [Review 1360 of 2024 - 279 in Ohio - 22383 overall]

Espresso macchiato presentation average

The front door of the facility is on the one-way street. The parking lot is in the back. The inside of this place is large and welcoming. It looks like a great place to do work. There's no password for the Wi-Fi so it's easy to connect. I purchased my typical drink an espresso macchiato. The presentation was poor, and the flavor was bitter. The price was was extremely reasonable at $2.50.

Very cool chill and spacious coffee shop that is connected to a church. Plenty of space and outlets to work or study from. The service is friendly and the music is mellow which makes it a great place to concentrate or have a conversation. The lattes were made well and it was enjoyable to drink. They have a stage so looks like they might have live music at times and they also sometimes have special food takeovers. Definitely recommend if you're looking to get your coffee fix without the hustle and bustle of a loud and busy coffee shop.

Cute place for coffee and/or something eat. The service was wonderful. The barista was extremely nice. Perfect place for college kids or if you want somewhere to sit and relax. Has a cute little place to check out books too.

Amazing coffee with some of the kindest baristas. I love there mochas and lattes. They have a quiet space to work and get things done! The place also has a very cute bookstore. I highly recommend coming here ! Happy hour after 2PM Monday-Friday.

Compass is another great coffee place. It's a cool looking space. There's plenty of chairs and tables. Quiet atmosphere. You can really get comfortable or do some work. An interesting thing is that it's in the bottom of a church. I don't know if the church is still open but it looked like it. They in spite of this don't have a religious theme. It's actually a social justice kind of place. They give some of their profits to the community to help people who need things. As for the coffee, it's good. They have a small menu but there's variety. I had a cortado. It's $3.50 for a cup. They have some non dairy milks. Among the snacks are those Betty Lou treats which you can eat pretty fast. They have several flavors of these. It overall has some good coffee. It doesn't have much in the way of food. They might at some times.

Really cool coffee shop. Freshly made drinks with REAL milk in glass bottles ... now that's not 2022?! Non-profit with a purpose to help the locals. See photo for details.

I questioned leaving a review, because I myself am a barista at a specialty coffee shop and I want to be supportive of all other local shops. Unfortunately, my experience here was really disappointing & I want it to be heard by the owners of the shop as well as future customers. When I walked in I was kindly greeted by a female barista & she was the highlight of my whole experience (super kind and accommodating) I ordered an oat milk cappuccino which came in 12oz /16oz sizes which is not standard for cappuccinos, but that's not the end of the world. When I received my capp I was super confused by the looks of it. The basista kindly told me that they make their own milk and it's a lot thicker than usual. She also said if I didn't like it I could swap it out for something else which was super generous. Don't get me wrong, I think it's awesome that this shop makes it own oatmilk and offers cost effective vegan options, but this was absolutely atrocious. My cappuccino was basically porridge and I couldn't handle it. (I wish I could add the video I took of me stirring this drink. Unreal.) I gave the capp back and asked for an iced coffee instead and the barista poured hot drip coffee over ice, which is a huge red flag that their staff hasn't been trained properly. I feel incredibly bad for their staff. They're not trained well and they're the ones who have to take the brunt when people are served bad product. For a coffee shop that tries to fall into the 'third wave'/ 'specialty coffee' category it's just not good.

The first non-profit third wave coffee shop I've ever heard of or been too. I love that my money not only pays for great coffee, but also goes into the Middlebury community. Win win! They actually have a siphon brewing apparatus too! That's even hard to find in the SF Bay Area. Please try siphon when it's not busy here though, in respect for the baristas. They have pour overs, espresso, loose leaf tea, any drink you can think of, they have. Compass is located within The Well, a community development corporation, that is all about giving back and helping their community. Unlike some other massive business moving into a certain local mall, but that's another discussion. The space is huge with assorted seating arrangements. They have a coveted La Marzocco espresso machine, know worldwide as one of the best espresso machines on the planet. The baristas are super chill, knowledgeable, and clearly have a passion for coffee. There are games here, a little shop, open mic night. I mean this place is just amazing. It's also part of the Drip Drive and the Hartzler Coffee cruise, both analogous to the Akron area beer passport.

This is a neat little coffee shop, in the back of an old church! It's very spacious inside, and is a great area to do work and relax in. Would work great for business meetings or to catch up with friends. They offer drip and pour over coffee. Only downside is that the milk they use is a milk that's the lowest level of pasteurization, and leaves a weird consistency when added to coffee.

The people are incredibly friendly, not only the workers but everyone who was there which shows the audience this cafe attracts. It was awesome to see the wide arrangement of drink options from hot to cold to energy infused drinks with Red Bull. They also had a TON of house baked goods. Scones, muffins, cinnamon rolls, strudels and more. They even have lots of various breads to choose from and cakes! They have inside and outside seating which is charming and simple. The food is great and the drinks are high quality and refreshing. The cinnamon rolls warmed up in the microwave were probably some of the best I've ever eaten. The cream cheese frosting is to die for as well as the strawberry rhubarb filling (I need a jar of it). Muffins are SO MOIST and great texture/flavors. I also really liked that by the cash register they had some pre wrapped baked goods that were slightly discounted meaning they were probably leftovers from the previous day or what not so I like that they do not waste! Overall, if you are in the area or a short drive away please stop in and you won't regret it!

They have a good selection of breads including loaves, focaccias and rolls. The pastries are very nice, with croissants, danishes, cookies and scones. I also appreciate there is a rack with half priced day old breads. When you have really high quality bread you can still enjoy it a day later. Quite a surprise to find such a nice bread bakery in a somewhat out of the way place. If you are in the area well worth a stop to enjoy some great baked goods and stock up.

I moved back to the Akron area a couple years ago and love making the 20 minute trek to this fabulous place. First, the selection is incredible. Next, the quality is next level! The grains + flour + ingredients they use... and the resulting goodies. But somehow the place is unpretentious + fairly priced. Some of my favorite things so far: the buns (are you thinking "how good can buns be?" Well, you are going to find out), the oatmeal raisin bread (a dream, a balance of hearty + earthy + sweet... toasted MYGOD), the cheese stick (funky chewy bliss), and the dark chocolate spelt cookie. Can't wait to try everything else. Clapping + cheering for the bakers + proprietors, Amy
