Great atmosphere for a relaxing meal. The food was excellent- we had the salmon special and blackened chicken salad. The mashed potatoes on the salmon plate are like thanksgiving in your your mouth; the salad was fresh and didn't disappoint. Great little place! Service was great and I felt welcome the minute I walked through the door. We ordered 2 appetizers: fried mushrooms and fried pickles. First off the fried mushrooms were amazing. They were sliced, not whole! Love this. Every bite was crispy and delicious. No liquid lava lime when you bite into the fried whole mushrooms. Batter was flavorful and so crispy. (Did I mention they were crispy?!) fried pickles were just as delicious, light crispy batter that let the pickle flavors shine without any excess grease. I asked my friend about her hangover burger but all I got were grunts and nods from her side of the table. When she cut the burger in half, liquid gold flowed down the burger and onto the plate. I had the triple cheese burger. Delicious! Both burgers were seasoned and cooked per request (my friend leans towards charcoal briquettes when it comes to meat) even well done the meat was tasty! So first of all I wish I got to try the food there and always support any veteran owned businesses. After 18 minutes of waiting for a menu or any thing my wife and I decided to take our toddler and leave. If you do have young kids I would think twice before coming here the place is clean so I couldn't for the life of me figure out why the tables and high chairs are sticky even after wiping them down with our own wipes. Then it dawned on me they must use a highly abrasive cleaner that has ruined the outer coating. Anyway back to the review we walked in and to the front counter (first time there heard a ton of good things about the place) and the waitress told us to sit at 14. So we found table 14 (she didn't tell us where it) and got a high chair. Sat there for a bit over 17 minutes with her serving every single table around us with out acknowledging us once. No menu, no water, no hello just nothing. You might be thinking was she the only one and they were packed? The answer would be no to that. We saw other workers none of which helped her, but with 20-25% capacity in the restaurant there was no feasible excuse. So unless she is so incompetent at her job there is only one other excuse and I hate to say it. In a room full of white people (except the one gentleman in the wounded warriors shirt at a table with 6 other white people) I was the only brown man in the restaurant with a white wife and son (funny story my wife and I are both half Hispanic) take what you may from that, but the way she was acting (or not acting towards us after the interaction at the counter when we came in) isn't a good picture in my opinion. Nearly 20 minutes and only words we heard which was spoken to my wife is "table 14" and literally giving refills, food and service to every table around us. So if anyone has any other reason why someone wouldn't bring us a water or even a menu in nearly 20 minutes I'm open ears. read more

we have been going to this restaurant since it opened up and the food is great. today we went for lunch for my husband's birthday, we are both handicapped and we got to the door 5 minutes before they opened. the waitress came to the door, saw we could barely stand using our canes and she said you have to wait 5 minutes and closed and locked the door. there was no one there , she could have let us come in and sit!! we would have just left but it's hard to get back in the car. her rude additude changed my whole feeling about this place. not sure we will be going back anytime soon read more

Wow can you imagine ordering a chicken fried steak, getting home to find out it was burnt and I don't mean a little the cook had to have known it was something he should not have plated, the meal was burnt the meat was dry no flavor what so ever besides burnt!! We also ordered a pasta mushrooms dish, we added grilled chicken, the chicken was dry but the pasta and mushrooms was good, not enough to go back. Finally we ordered a bread pudding for dessert it was the worse bread pudding I have ever eaten!!! The sad part for me being a retired veteran is this place is run by two vets!! I read about this place online and it sounded like a good place to try. Took my family to check it out and it did NOT disappoint!! I was concerned a bit when we got there and the place was empty but after eating there I can't say enough good things about this joint, the proverbial "hole in the wall". The staff was really friendly but not awkward and the service was excellent The food is DELICIOUS and the portions are hefty. We had the cajun mozzarella for an appetizer... SPICY... (but good!!) the chicken fried steak, ribeye steak, shrimp pasta and chicken pasta and it was all great. Not "cheap" food but definitely worth every penny!! Tried this place out about 2 weeks ago. Several people from our next door app recommended this place. The staff was extremely nice and attentive. The restaurant was very clean and had great decor. The only negative was the food lacked flavor. I ordered the sirloin steak and it had very little seasoning. A good steak only need salt and pepper and that was missing. My wife ordered a Cajun style pasta and it also lacked flavor. The pasta was slightly over cooked and mushy. Being a chef myself I was disappointed in the overall flavor of the food. I wish them well. The staff said they were only open for 6 months. I would give them a second try and try their burgers. That's what was recommended in our next door app. We love supporting small businesses that are veteran owned. read more

Don't blink because you will miss this amazing restaurant in Helotes right behind the Dairy Queen. My husband and I went in there tonight to see what all the rave was about and omg I am so glad we did. We tried a couple of things on the menu and all were to die for. Appetizers we tried were the Diablo chicken and the Buffalo chicken cheese fries. Both were absolutely amazing. I have got to figure out where the chef gets his bacon from that he wraps the diablos in, because it is to die for. The fries had just enough flavor and sauce to taste perfect but not be overwhelming in spicy level. For dinner I got the patty melt. I love patty melts and this one is probably one of the best I have ever had. I got onion rings with it and those too were probably some of the best. Not over battered and great flavor. My husband got the three cheese burger with some of that delicious bacon and yes on point again. Of course dinner is not complete without dessert.... Ya tequila key lime pie to die for!!!! There isn't enough I can say about this place except that I you for opening your doors and we will return and bring some friends with us to help keep the doors open!!!!! I finally tried 6 Klicks. Sadly I was disappointed with the service. The food was good. Pricey is also a word I would use. The waitstaff are all young and maybe inexperienced. Many tables that came in after our group of 4 were served their food before us. Finally our waitperson came back to tell us the food would be out anytime. After I made a few comments about the wait and other tables served before us and the fact that my freshly wrapped silverware had an unwashed spoon in it, she never came back. Passed us onto another waitperson. The food was finally delivered by a young man one or two plates at a time. One of our group never did get her salad. We heard about this restaurant on the NextDoor app and I'm glad we tried it! Great environment, very clean, and great service! It's a Veteran-Owned restaurant and with ID they honored a 10% discount. We ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, Cheeseburger and onion rings, everything was very good. I wish we ordered the onion rings as an appetizer because they were excellent!! The Chicken Fried Steak plate came with vegetables and bake potato, the potato was not as warm as I would like it, but that's my preference. 1st time going to this restaurant. It is very clean and our waitress very pleasant and informative. We ordered the patty melt, fries and chicken wings. I would say it was the best melt I ever had! The wings were tasty and served with homemade ranch dressing. We ordered the bread pudding and it was delicious! We met the owners, the husband is the chef he definitely knows how to cook. Very disappointed! After reading great reviews of this place and how friendly the people were, we were excited to try this place. We went in to eat and we're told to sit anywhere we liked. We sat there for about 5 minutes there were other customers there so we patiently waited for the staff to take their orders and then come hand us some menus after. The waitress took the other patrons orders as we were still waiting. Another party walked in and the waitress attended to them promptly as we were still waiting for menus and to even be acknowledged as customers. Needless to say we were never tended to so we left. It may be that they are great when they do not have many customers. read more

This Mom and Pop, vet-owned Cafe offers a quality in the food rarely found in even the most expensive, prestigious establishments. My husband had the Hangover Burger, which was extraordinary, and the fries were amazing! I had the mushroom spinach garlic cream sauce penne pasta with grilled chicken. It was PERFECTION! I can't wait to try everything on their menu. I don't believe I have ever said that about ANY restaurant. Tried this restaurant today for the first time and was not disappointed! Besides the fact that we will support just about any Veteran owned business, our burgers were top notch. Juicy, medium as requested, with fresh garden accompaniments. The fries were so fresh they burnt our tongues (which is GREAT!) and the onion rings have a slightly spicy batter and were equally fresh.
