I'll start with the positives. The facility is well maintained. There are snacks, drinks, gear and merch for sale should you need it. Coach Phil is an excellent coach who has passion for what he teaches and for helping people reach their potential. But now the negative. I am a disabled combat veteran. I lost most ability with my left hand, along with my thumb and my wrist to a roadside IED in Iraq. A couple of months after I started there one of the owners friends began training with me. The first time there was no issue However, the following class I had was only me, this guy, Cody, and two females. We did our warm ups and Cody told us to partner up. just FYI here, I would go in early before class and train with a bokken, or training sword Cody's buddy walked up to me and said, "I'll work with the guy who cut his hand off with his sword " He did this loudly in front of everyone, and one of the females looked shocked. I personally felt humiliated that I had to tell this person, why no that's not what happened. I'm an Army vet who lost his hand in Iraq if you're disabled, no one has the right to say things like that to you No one has the right to make you have to explain your disability to them and it happened while Cody was right there, with his back to me Cody has said he didn't hear it I don't believe him Instead of becoming involved then,Cody chose instead to let the situation fester and degenerate. which it did for almost two years. When it did finally come to a head, Cody feigned ignorance. he said he knew there was in issue but he thought I just didn't like his friend. he didn't think to ask the obviously troubled student what was wrong. why would he? he was there. He said I never mentioned it to anyone, which is also not true. I'd mentioned I was having issues with another student to both one of the receptionists, and also to Coach Phil I didn't mention who the student was because it's Cody's buddy, and I was never asked who it was. Cody told me that this isn't who they are. But he didn't want to come up with any solutions either. he preferred to tell me that he has LGBQT students, students of colour, and disabled students which made me feel like. we were marketing to him. great advertising but no actual substance behind it, which was proven when he would rather talk about that than deal with the issue of one of f his friends being abusive under his roof, during one of his classes, right in front of him. if you're a disabled person, I cannot recommend this facility. if you're a veteran, I can't in good conscience recommend them. And if your the parent of a disabled child my advice is avoid at all costs. read more

Such a great place for the whole family to train! All of the instructors truly care about each student's success, and provide a wonderful learning environment! Kids as young as 6 years old can learn martial arts, and it sets them up with excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. On the other side of the spectrum, adults of all body types and abilities are welcomed without judgement or intimidation. Some folks come to lose weight and be healthier, others come to train for semi-pro fights, and we all feel like family. 5th Element even does birthday parties and Parents' Night Out events, so moms and dads don't have to plan it all themselves! read more

This is a great gym. All the trainers have great experience and a lot to teach. I've been training off and on for decades in some pretty credible gyms and these guys are very thorough as innovative in there approach to martial arts. I've been there now for almost a year and a half. I couldn't be happier with the results. They also organize a lot of cool events for all the people who train there to go to. 5th Element has outstanding, highly skilled instructors, is a family friendly environment that is very welcoming and a fun place to practice martial arts. The kiddo classes are fantastic! The tiny ninjas learn to have fun in a structured class setting, create new friendships and build a great deal of self confidence. 5th Element is for all ages, male and female, the place to train! Doing martial arts often feels beyond your reach when you have disabilities. I can't really hide them when I train, but here, I don't feel like I have to. Everyone is kind and supportive. There are men and women of all ages, all body types, all levels of experience. If you don't know something, people are happy to go over it with you (the coaches AND the regulars!).
