I've been to this place 3 times now, the first time I came with a friend to try it out , second time was shooting on my own and this most recent time with a few friends . Each time I feel like the service just gets worse and worse. Aside from the over priced ammo and range fees and making multiple people share lanes while charging them all fees to get in .the final straw this time was not being told not to hit the top black part (less then a foot above the target) Or be charged 5 dollars a shot, (there is a sign on the bottom side with the other gun safety warnings)I just got a new .22 LR with no sites and had to shoot at 25 yards away yes I am going to miss a lot but to get charged an extra 30 dollar fee for missing a few that hardly scratched the paint on metal hold is unacceptable. read more

Have purchased several firearms from them in the past I wanted to return. Not saying I spent thousands, but definitely around $3k. After this last visit which I went in with the intent of buying my first 1911 (which I did do) I will not be returning nor recommending. I had no idea there was so many options when it came to a 1911, which lead me to being there awhile. I went in a little before 4 on November 28th, 2015. I was with my wife, 2 teenage kids and 1 of their friends. I'm always excited being in a gun store, but everyone else's excitement wears off after about 45 minutes. It was nice they had high top tables with stools for a waiting area where the wife and kids were sitting. After I finally made a decision almost an hour and half later, I started doing my paperwork and the guy who was helping me packed up my firearm. While waiting for background check I sat down with the family. The kids' friend was messing with 5 (FIVE) neon green papers with standard black ink. By messing I mean folding the corners, fiddling and what not from boredom. A guy who I'm assuming is the owner, stopped at the table the kids were sitting at on his way back to the office and told their friend "You making paper airplanes or something? Take it easy on the papers they cost me money." I thought it was a huge stack of papers until I saw it was the 5. Once I saw that I went to the office door and said "Excuse me!?" A girl appeared and I told her I needed to talk to the guy that just walked back. When he came out I asked him how much I owed him for the flyers. He stated "Oh it's not that big of a deal." I then asked "Why did you even say anything if it's not that big of a deal?" He told me he just didn't want them messed up. I told the kids friend to leave the flyers alone so he doesn't cry. Shook his hand an apologized, for what I have no idea. I told everyone lets go, on my out the door I threw $10 on the counter and said heres for my background check and the cashier said I was ready to go. If it wasn't for that I would have not made the purchase. For the owner to be upset about 5 papers which maybe costed 35 cents each to make which is under $2 and a WRITE OFF at that. Give me a break!!! You know how many of those are passed out and probably end up in the trash? If he's worried about that I guess he should start charging an entrance fee into the showroom. I went into 5280 Armory on 3/18/2020, greeted by a young skinny kid. Asked me what I needed, I stated I want to just look see what they had and make a decision on what to buy. He gave me the rundown on the coronavirus, they don't want you in there unless you are buying. I had intentions on buy, but want to look first before blowing 500 to 1000.00 on a gun. He stated they had people waiting in line outside less than a day ago, and somehow I should feel privileged he let me in. I've have bought 1000.00s in guns from these people. Now 5280 Armory is gouging ammo and firearms. Don't buy anything from these people, they're taking advantage of people and using this time of the virus to profit off of the turmoil. Very sad I've been a buyer (5280 Armory) for many years, no more. To the owner, dude you're a very angry man and it comes across when you deal with people. Local gun shops love the fact your an ass, you've given them a lot of business. There will be a time when there's no virus, treat customers better and drop it's a privilege to shop at your store. I went to look at guns and was going to buy but I felt I was profiled from the time I went into the store, I'm dark complected Mexican American and I noticed a salesman whispering to the other staff and from then on they avoided me and didn't show me any guns they probably thought I was middle eastern!. Well let me start off with this, what a huge selection of firearms. I had bought 2-3 rifles prior to there building re-location. They really do have a big inventory. Most of there guns are priced higher then most Sporting Shops (I thought it be backwards) They have a staff that is beyond rude. They look and treat you bad if you do not know much about a certain firearm. The three people I talked to I was almost embarrassed for them, with the attitudes they had. I was more then uncomfortable and with my usual gesture, thanked them an left. Picking up a brand new handgun $40.00 cheaper at SPORT MANS WAREHOUSE. I'm 23 and can't believe I had such a bad experience in a firearm shop. The only reason they got two stars instead of one;they have some pretty cool displays. Will never return. Visited this place for the first time and was impressed at the amount of inventory however we were left to stand at the counter for about 10 minutes before someone bothered to ask if we needed help. When finally someone did attend to us he was rude and had a pretty shitty attitude. We were treated as if we were a nuisance and not a customer who was spending money. Went in the other day to purchase a new gun. Figured I'd go right when they opened from their yearly shutdown. I am a frequent customer and have dealt with the owners on few different occasions. Not once did I ever get a bad vibe from these two. Not only did they open up early for the line starting outside, it was only the two owners at first until more staff arrived. I watched them handle business in the most professional manner getting everyone pretty much cleared out before they even opened. I was able to make a purchase as well! From what I've always experienced with this shop is out right professionalism! Now I know they're busy so I expect them to be right to the point, that's what I like! Some of you soy boys leaving bad reviews because your feelers were hurt, or feel like they are overpriced , or feel you didn't get the education you were looking for, go back to mommies basement! All I can say is wow! After me ordering the wrong AR like a doofus they allowed me to change it to the right one!! Listen, being an FFL in Colorado since it became a blue state is incredibly difficult. Even more difficult when you also have a shooting range. These people deal with more sh** in one day than you probably deal with in 10 years. 5280 has a bit of a reputation around the local gun community for being strict and unflinching in their protocols. Believe me, when dealing with firearms, THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT! You may be able to find better prices or a different customer experience elsewhere but if you are new to firearms and are respectful of them, this place is a must go destination for you. The employees at 5280 are incredibly well vetted and knowledgeable. I've shot here several times and purchased firearms from most of the gun stores in the Denver metro. 5280 is easily a top 4 for me - and maybe my #1 recommendation for first-time/respectful shooters. Remember, business transactions are not a consumer right, they are a 2 party voluntary ordeal. If a gun store doesn't like you, they have every right in the world as well as my full support to refuse any sale. These are guns they are selling after all, not Cheetos. read more

They have an excellent selection of fire arms at fair prices, both the shop and the firing range are very clean, bright and modern. The firing range is a family friendly place. Customer service can be hit and miss. The owner is an absolute Jerk, his wife is a very nice friendly lady, I think the success of the business is due to her. read more

I've driven up here 3 times from downtown Denver over the last year. 2 of the 3 times the showroom has been closed and if you want anything you have to wait in line at the range side. Definitely call before you make the drive over. Stopped in for ammo and a gun case. They asked if we needed help many times so A+ on attentive. I did feel as I'm not a gun enthusiast that it did lack the extra help needed when making some choices. I feel they just pointed and asked yes or no. I know they probably get a lot of newbies but it could mean a shopper for many years with just a tad more umph. Prices were fair. I stopped in at the 5280 Armory for the second time today. I will say the gun room is outstanding . Range is nice...but the customer service in the gunsmith counter and the older "chunky" lady at the register near the front door is the worst customer service person I have ever met! I had originally stopped in for a simple lower stock assembly change on my new CZ Scorpion EVO 3 S1. This swap out only takes 5 or 6 minutes...a heavy set young man came up to me at the counter and said "Yes what do you want?" I told him I needed to swap out the lower stock assembly and inquired as to how much it would cost -- also that I had been recommended to get this done here by one of the regulars. He informed me that the minimum would be $40.00 -- but he had no idea how to do it ! I told him the amount of money was "bullshit" and to give me my weapon back!. At that this-- an older heavy set lady at the Register broke into this discussion said that I could take the pay or "GET OUT OF THE STORE" and to take myself outside and as they did not want my business!!!! I can certainly understand paying for a service but this is just highway robbery. plus the staff person saying he did not know how to do the swap out! The visit compounded my attitude as the first time I came in I was seeking to buy a new CZ Scorpion EVO 3 S2 and this same "jerk of a clerk" tried to sell me a new S! model as the new S2!!! He must be last in line for brains and figured that no one in this world knows anything about weapons! The bottom line on this was I went into this business expecting some great service based on my friends recommendation. Two chances and both times flunk out ! How this firm stays in business is absolutely a mystery. Finally, my own back ground is 28 years in Special Operations Forces in the US Army and I just happen to know a "little bit " about weapons. I leave this up to you the reader of this unfortunate experience--- but I for one will never recommend this business nor spend one penny in this store ever again! Complete 100% waste of time. Surly sales people ignore you, weekday and the sales area is closed. Ask why, they refer to a sign saying its closed such and such days. Decide to wander over to the shooting range side and they are not interested in helping or answering questions. Pretty amazingly poor service. I left and with my brother we went to two other gun shops nearby, and although they weren't perfect they were ranks above 5280. I will be referring people away from this business from now on, and will NEVER suggest to any one to go there as they can't even be bothered to help a customer who WANTS to spend money. read more

Was my roommates and I first time EVER being to a range. They helped us pick a pistol that we were both interested in but also fit us and made sure we were comfortable w our recommendations. She answered all of our novice questions w no condensation. The man on the range itself was just as helpful w loading/ misfire questions as well as general shooting advice. I recently took my girlfriend in here to check out some handguns and get an idea on some different makes. My lady has former military parents and shot my gun, as well as the M&P 9, so not a stranger to the game. I'm pretty loyal to my Smith .40 M&P and Smith in general, but wanted some more educated advice, and hell ya we got it. Think we talked with Steve, and he gave her direct attention, great information, and then left us to talk about things. Some places talk simple gun & price, and usually talk to the man and not the woman who's trying to buy the gun. This joint was nothing like that, and maybe the best shop I've ever been to, and I've lived in 4 states. We'll be back to buy this week for sure. It also tells you something when their range isn't even finished w/ construction, but already sold out on memberships. We will at least rock some hourly time on those lanes very soon. I know that they try hard and that is evident. I bought a AR10 from 5280 and I started building it with the owner (Same day). Everything was fine except I was sold a hand rail that came in on a later date. I got a call a few days later that the hand rail was in and that I could come get it which is what I did. A few days later a gunsmith friend and I tried to put it on my gun. It didn't fit and we immediately took it off. When I went in to return it, it had some marring because of the bad fit. I called the manufacturer and found out that the rail sold to me was not for my gun. When I tried to return it, they noticed the marring and didn't want to allow me to return it. Then the owner started talking about that he had a conversation with me that the hand rail may not fit when we ordered it, but we would try it out when it got here and that they would instal it. "THAT CONVERSATION NEVER HAPPENED"!! On top of that, I told him that the manufacturer said it wasn't for my gun and you could tell by the model # because it didn't have a "LP" on it. He blurted out that he didn't need to be educated and started accusing me of calling him stupid...(I NEVER CALLED HIM STUPID OR IMPLIED THAT). On top of that he charged me for installation of the had rail to be installed and said that he told me that which may or mat not be true, I honestly can't remember and I didn't check the receipt after I left the store. Then a lady was standing there started to accuse me of having a run around story (WHAT A BUNCH OF BULL)!! My final point was that if they were going to instal it, why didn't they call and say bring your gun in, your hand rail is here and we can instal it instead of come pick up your hand rail? It's neither here nor there but I am new to the sport and I would suggest that they have a short meeting on guns being built with their employees or have a chart that tells everyone by a simple glance what needs to be done. The end result was that they did allow my return but not with out a bunch of crying and whining! WHEN THINGS DON'T HAPPEN LIKE THEY SHOULD, TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHAT YOU DID WRONG AND FIX THE PROBLEM SO IT DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN! read more

5280 is our one and only range and store. My wife and I have been coming to 5280 for over 7 years and every visit has been great. The staff worked with us when we transitioned from wheel guns to semi autos for CCW, and helped us make our CCW selections based on what WE wanted. We come to the range at least once a month and it can be busy, but that's because it's a great place to shoot. The entire operation is safe, professional and clean, and I have recommended 5280 to my friends. For first time shooters, or long time shooters, this is the place. I am a LE and Army veteran. Been here twice, both bad experiences. Had a whetherby shotgun they are authorized dealers for but didn't seem to have a clue that they were, tried to charge me for a warranty repair. Next brought some guns in to sell/trade, the dummy says they won't take a look unless i know what i want for them. Surprise ahole, i brou them in to check prices!!!! Went in to get a specific gun that they had in stock. staff was helpful and showed me the gun i was looking for. they were also the best local price i could find. Very knowledgeable and patient staff. They don't talk down to you if you're not a gun nerd. The inventory is vast but very specific and what I am interested in (not hunting gear). There's a large "sportsman" store very close to my house that stocks and sells a lot of guns, but I always drive the extra several miles to go to and purchase from 5280 for their inventory and customer service. read more
