Made an appointment here for a tour. Really awesome friendly staff. Showed the amenities and units available. The pool was small, but the gym was definitely the star of the show. Price is just a little too high for the one bedrooms... I found them really small but they're asking for a hefty price. I have to admit the kitchens were so ugly I'm so sorry but they really are. I think that was the deal breaker for me. But overall it's definitely worth checking out!! Just make sure to make an appointment online first. read more

I would love to recommend living at 525 Olive St, San Diego, CA. First of all the leasing agent, Arlene Guthrie, was so professional, knowledgeable and polite when giving us a tour and signing us up. The building is beautiful with a gym, hot tub, 20th floor lounge views and many more amenities. The units are modern with huge windows to view San Diego. Maintenance is quick to respond with requests made thru a mobile app. So many restaurants surrounding the building is fantastic and access to the park is a block away. Lived here for about 14 months. Left my unit mostly clean, but they kept nearly all my deposit, returning just $7 two months later and after a call reminding them about my deposit. I don't think the deposit deductions are justified. Called twice for an itemized list of deductions; three months on, still nothing. I don't want to bother anymore. The delay in returning the deposit and not providing an itemized list, by the way, violate California Civil Code § 1950.5. I won't give a one-star review because I mostly enjoyed my residency there--the building was well-kept, staff was friendly and courteous. But it seems once you left, all that courtesy is gone. They don't even bother to follow the law to timely return your deposit and give you an itemized list of deductions. I shouldn't have wasted my time cleaning the unit and let them keep the $7. read more

It's funny, all the negative Yelp reviews are from profiles who only use yelp to complain. I came to the property with no appt to see a unit, I was greeted and welcome by the staff and got a tour within 90 minutes. (In the meantime we walked to Pure Project to grab a beer) The property exterior was clean, quiet, obviously beautiful since Balboa park is right across the street. The rooftop pool and communal spaces are well kept, high quality, and provide stunning views of the downtown skyline, Cabrillo bridge, and the ocean. The layout of the unit we saw met our needs, has high quality appliances, and everything uses smart apps for a modern, convenient experience. We just got approved and will be signing a lease! Went by today to take a tour and Arlene was by far the most accommodating and friendliest person to show me around in San Diego. The building, amenities, and the units were incredible and the area is perfect. Definitely going to be a big contender in consideration due to what I saw and the customer service received. Worth a read before you decide to move here. They got my review removed so that isn't fair to prospective tenants. I made the mistake of moving in a month ago and need to share my experience with prospective tenants. Will not call out the leasing staff by names, but this is entirely the wrong company to be leasing this new building. My issues started literally after signing in to move here with my leasing agent. I sent numerous emails to her and not a single one was answered to the point I wasn't even sure if I was moving in or not. Then called twice and didn't even get a call back until the day before to confirm what time I would be here to move in. So, there was a 2 week period of no communication from this leasing staff. They're just rushing in people to fill the building fast. Was told 1 month free was only if you moved in June, but it's still going. Was unaware the parking garage was shared with the church so the first 2 levels of the garage are not for tenants and I lucked out getting the basement level, the lowest level B5, in the garage for my 2 bedroom unit that cost more than most of the building. Asked to move up to a higher level and told it's not fair. Then again I've asked about getting a second parking spot and those emails are also still unanswered. Was told by someone in the building they were told to park on the street if they didn't like their spot. The building has 20 or so units that are low income and they park higher than I'm allowed. Also had my first run in with some of those tenants over the weekend and really changed the atmosphere of the building. I'm paying too much to live here and you will too. There is no concierge at all, there's not even a desk person. Which makes me jealous every morning I walk past The Park building and see someone always there. I've never lived in a building with this high rent that was lacking so much. Now here's the best part about the "Package Concierge" and the main reason I'm finally writing about my experience. I had to drive to the post office to pick up my packages because the leasing staff turned them away just this past Friday and then also again on Saturday. I got berated at the post office for the way the leasing staff is treating the USPS. Leasing staff wouldn't let them leave packages in the mail room and then wouldn't let them in the package room. What? You also pay $20 to use this "Package Concierge" which is just a tablet and USPS said this is the only building in the area they're having problems with. At the post office they told me they were called back to come on Saturday to drop everything off, but the leasing staff just ignored them the entire time they were here. I emailed the leasing staff yesterday and got no response so enough is enough. Now problems with my unit and the building before/after moving in. I was told the ceiling's were 9ft, but my entry way and hallway barely comes out to 7 1/2" and the living room is just about 8ft. My master bathroom ceiling height is even lower. I almost had to return my Article couch because I couldn't get it around my entryway due to height and being on a corner. Made the mistake of signing before even visiting, my fault. There is a MASSIVE homeless problem all around the building. I swear there is more homeless than non-homeless people here. I have the pleasure of seeing them every morning going to the bathroom from my unit on the street and church property, which you share grounds with. There are giant pillars in most of the units and some units even have shared balcony's. My master bathroom isn't even a shower and it's a tub with a shower curtain. My window shades are not automatic and you have to pull them up and down, window by window. They're also not black out at all and let plenty of light in. It is very loud hear and they should of used better windows. Greystar really seemed to cheap out here. They're complaining about dogs using the grass around the building while this place bills itself as pet friendly. So, just put turf in? This building is over priced by at least 40% considering all of this. There are better run places in the area. Do your research please. I saw someone in the homeless RV parked out front shooting up. They now blame the USPS for the problems and that's a flat out lie. read more

I moved in about a month ago and the experience has been very pleasant. Bryan, Jaime and Kristen have been extremely helpful with the move in process. The amenities are great and always clean. The environment is very welcoming. I've witnessed Bryan deal with 3 tenants (myself included) at a time and did it with such a friendly demeanor, handled all our needs with a smile! Wow. What a magnificent building. I took a tour here recently and was led through by the lovely Bryan Chu. He was super friendly, accommodating and informative about the property + it's amenities. Based on what I was looking for, he showed me a wide variety of units that matched my needs and I was impressed at how different each of the units was designed, all equally stunning. OOF, and the AMENITIES!! GIRL, that was the nicest apartment gym I've EVER seen and I lived in quite a few buildings. Fully stocked- even had a weight rack, yoga/spin space, SAUNA, and an OUTSIDE turf area if you're looking to get beast-y in some gorgeous weather with some epic scenery. I currently live deeper to downtown and was looking at 525 Olive as a future home being that's it's closer to Hillcrest/ Little Italy... and GREAT VIEWS (seriously I don't think there's another apartment building in the area that can beat it). I was lucky enough to get to attend one of their building's events - you could say I was in the right place at the right time - and let me tell you, they don't hold back on treating their residents + guests like kings and queens. It was a wonderful time and there's nothing like watching the sun go down while hanging out next to a pool enjoying a cocktail and some truffle mushroom risotto. I was also lucky enough to meet a few of the other staff - Jamie + Bre, who are some of the sweetest people you will ever meet! Overall, the impression I got from 525 Olive was a solid one and I look forward to moving this building in the near future. read more

I walked into 525 Olive unannounced and was immediately greeted by the leasing agent, Arlene, who didn't hesitate to provide a guided tour of building. I was so impressed, I returned with my wife an hour later. Once again, Arlene provided an excellent guided tour and thoughtfully answered all our questions. 525 Olive is an architecturally stunning building with over-the-top panoramic views of San Diego. The facility is very pet friendly, and the residents are warm and inviting. My wife and I immediately felt at home. We didn't hesitate to submit a rental application. Thank you, Arlene! read more

I have lived here for a month and have been so impressed with the facility, accessibility, and mostly the staff. Prior to moving in, I had some questions around ceiling height. Within just an hour of my question, Brian went up to my apartment, took a video of my room and took measurements in order to ensure my furniture would fit. Since moving in, the staff has been super friendly and all the amenities have been functional and clean. Brian also went over all of the different applications to ensure I could get guests into the building without having to leave my apartment and up to my floor. He's the best! The view from the roof at sunset is hard to beat, and the other residents have all been lovely. This has been a great place for me to start my new adventure in San Diego! read more

I made an appointment to tour 525 Olive because of it's proximity to Balboa Park, Hillcrest, and downtown. When I arrived, Jamie, Bre, and Bryan all greeted me at the door. First offering water or a snack before talking about the building, amenities, and surrounding area. Bryan took me from there and first walked me around the mail room, discussed the design choices for the building and walked me to the top floor to see the common area, pool, and breathe taking view. He then took me to the model rooms and continued to convey his knowledge of the building and passion for making an apartment my own. Every question I had asked, he had answers to, even if the model designer could do my apartment when I moved in (the designer is exclusive, but it wouldn't be impossible). We toured two units and both with high end finishes, a maximized floorspace layout, and amazing views. Bryan lastly took me to the gym and I was pleasantly surprised to see a full gym, yoga studio, and patio area with turf to workout on. We concluded the tour and Bre and Jamie both met Bryan and I to do my paperwork. The tour was spectacular, the amenities are amazing, and the staff was the friendliest of any apartment I had previously toured. I highly recommend Bryan, Bre, and Jamie and 525 Olive! read more

We had a tour of 525 Olive with Will, and he was fantastic! He walked us through several floorplans and gave us ideas for potential layouts/furniture arrangements that matched our needs. He also had countless recommendations for coffee shops/restaurants near 525 Olive. The building itself has incredible finishes and makes you feel like you are walking into a relaxing hotel. The neighborhood surrounding the building felt very safe and walkable. When we decide to make the jump moving to San Diego, there is a high liklihood we will be calling 525 Olive our new home. The leasing process at 525 Olive is first class, starting with the people. Will met me for a tour of the building and it's excellent amenities. He is so knowledgeable about every unit and aspect of the building and all that living there would offer. Warning: lengthy review ahead I'm going to write as an objective of a review as possible in the hopes of helping prospective tenants make their decision. I've lived here for around 1 week - there are a number of highly rated reviews where people reviewed the property after their tour (i.e. before moving in, if at all) so beware of that. People pay a premium to live here, so I hope this can help you make as educated of a decision as possible. 1. The property/my unit: brand new. beautiful space. awesome rooftop view. modern appliances in the units. really great location, especially if you have a dog. I've made full use of Balboa Park since I've moved in and it's a huge plus. 2. Move-in process: this was a nightmare for me. Background: I was driving cross country for this move and needed to cement where I was going to live for a number of reasons (to provide the address to my employer, etc). I initially got the "welcome to 525 Olive" email on 4/16/22. I finally got the lease 5/26/22. It took forever, despite me doing everything I was asked promptly. Jenn was my point person, and while she is friendly, there was very poor communication from her through the whole process. Examples: not being able to "open the attachment" for my verification of employment, "meeting with the city to get our corporate property certificate," and "I did not receive messages from the call center" when I called a number of times to follow-up on the status of my lease (i.e. many excuses). I was also told on 5/18 that my lease would be sent for me to sign that day, or if not, the day after. Nothing was sent. I sent a follow-up email 5/24 (no reply). I felt immensely disrespected and abandoned during this whole process. The only reason I got my lease at all was because I finally got in touch with Will who asked Jenn to send it (even then, the lease had a mistake on it that I had to send back to be corrected). When I arrived, I felt rushed into my room. Jenn never told me about the trolley to move my stuff from the parking lot so I lugged everything myself. It felt really bad given how expensive rent is here to be treated as apathetically as I was. The whole process felt sloppy and disrespectful, at best. 3. Maintenance: have had great experiences with the maintenance folks. They are friendly and do a great job. 4. Amenities/other: Another reviewer (on Google Reviews) said you get nickel and dimed here, and they are correct. On top of rent, you pay extra for internet, parking, your pet, utilities, and most bafflingly of all, for a service to store your packages for pickup. I was asked to download 6 (!) apps on my phone from my welcome letter, some of which perform redundant and overlapping purposes. Hello Alfred was advertised when I signed on, but it's not used here. I don't think there's a concierge or 24 hour security, which is unusual for a property this expensive. The pet spa area is nice but could use a trash can. The parking lot has no safety mirrors and people zoom up and down the ramp, so be careful there. The app to pay rent is extremely flawed and confusing to use. 5. Staff: Will is awesome. He has easily been the most helpful and kind person that I have interacted with so far. I haven't had much interaction with Jaime. I've detailed my experience with Jenn above. The custodial staff is very friendly. 6. The bottom line: if you want to pay top dollar for one of the most expensive apartments in one of the most expensive cities in the country, go for it. But do not expect customer service to match. Before you spend your hard-earned money, think carefully about whether you want to incur the same headaches that I did. As of right now, 1 week in, I would NOT recommend this property, and I am already looking at other properties in the area for next year should the same issues persist. I am open-minded about adjusting my review should positive changes take place, because I really do want to like this place after all. Good luck to everyone. read more
