Yes, but I won't apologize for wanting to feel safe and happy in my home. You've deflected the real issue--I never said I wasn't helped, but your attitude and minimal effort were clear. Instead of acknowledging this, you twisted the narrative to make me seem difficult. You walked 10 feet ahead during the tour, never apologized, and your response is manipulative. My review isn't about not getting an apartment--it's about your poor customer service. To clarify: 1. I wasn't "upset" about a unit being unavailable--I even told Ben it was my fault for not securing it. 2. Ben scheduled a tour, but it never happened due to a "booking error." When I saw you, you refused to tour me or assist/reschedule. 3. The third-floor unit you eventually showed me was after I insisted--not because it was occupied. You're twisting truth to mask your demeanor. 4. Of course I had preferences!! That's reasonable when searching for a home. 5. Bringing up emails is irrelevant--I never claimed you ignored all of them and never claimed we spoke on the phone, though I did try calling. Bottom line: You are uninterested and transparently show you don't want to be there. What tour rep walks over 10ft ahead of a client? That alone says it all. This review isn't about the complex itself but rather the staff. I visited last week to inquire about availability, only to be told I needed to make an appointment--despite it being a weekday and five employees sitting at their desks (four in closed offices, one at the front). I understand that walk-ins may not always fit their schedule, so I agreed to return. When I came back, Erik showed me two units but seemed reluctant to show me a third, assuming based on my criteria that I wouldn't like it. I practically had to politely insist. The entire tour felt like a chore for him--he walked so fast, clearly did not want to be there and was eager to be done. At one point during the tour, he was walking over 10 feet ahead of me. I could barely catch up. He was completely disengaged, and he showed zero interest in helping me find a home. He had no problems being rude in his demeanor. I kept wanting to give him the benefit of the doubt, so after thinking it over for a few days, I emailed Erik to follow up but received no response until about a week later. I asked another question via email and got no reasponse, so I decided to go back in again, in-person (not gonna lie, I was a little nervous because it truly did not feel very warm and fuzzy vibe the first time. This time, I spoke with a more pleasant woman who explained that, as part of management, she didn't have details like window sizes or other specifics like Erik would, so it would be best that I try to contact him. She suggested I call him for a second tour. In the same conversation, she casually mentioned that the unit I was interested in had already been leased--to one of their new leasing agents. Before I knew it, I was handed off to that agent, Ben, who scheduled a tour with me for the next day at noon. I felt a sense of relief, hoping Ben would be more engaged and willing to help. But when I arrived for the tour, he seemed nervous--apparently, he had made some kind of booking mistake (which I totally understand, he's new and mistakes happen). Instead of moving forward, though, he hesitated and told me that since I had originally spoken with Erik, it would be best to go back to him because he "didn't want to step on anyone's toes." So, there I was, standing in front of Erik's desk again. Unsurprisingly, I wasn't greeted warmly or even invited to sit. Asking about availability felt like pulling teeth. At this point, it was clear that once you've been shown a couple of units, you're just supposed to pick one and stop asking questions. There was no openness to further discussion, no effort to help me find the best fit. Erik didn't offer to schedule another tour, Ben essentially handed me back over to Erik, and Erik's disinterest, disengagement, lead me to just put my head down and walk out. Ironically, Erik tries to mask his terrible customer service (if you can even call it that) with an overly chipper "Have a great day!!" Might as well have said, "Sayonara, don't let the door hit you on the way out." I understand that in a tough economy, people are there to make a living. But seriously--Sudberry Properties, invest in staff who at least pretend they care! I'm an Entrepreneur who owns 3 businesses. West Park is an absolute gem! I first toured this place in November 2024 but wasn't ready to move in until March 2025. During that time, I searched online, trying to find the "best deal" and was unfortunately lured into an apartment that looked great online, with internet and cable TV included in the price. However, after arriving in San Diego last Thursday and viewing that apartment in Little Italy, it became clear that it was not the right fit for me. Thankfully, I was able to get out of that lease and immediately came to West Park, knowing they had an available unit--and that this was truly where I wanted to be. Ben and (I believe her name was Riena?, the manager) were absolutely amazing in helping me secure a home on short notice. Since then, they and Erik have been incredibly helpful in getting a few minor issues sorted. Additionally, David and Memo, the repairmen, have been fantastic--handling repairs quickly and efficiently. I love this place! It's clean, feels safe, definitely has an overall feel of luxury, and the staff are not only super helpful but also genuinely care about this community. read more

I am at a loss for words in regards to this neighborhood/complex. Long story short, my dog was visiting his dad (which he told the leasing office when he first moved in happens sometimes and they were cool with it) one day as I was working and he was out behind building 2. My dog was mid-squat and doing a number 2 when an irresponsible dog owner was walking her German Shepherd (who she claims isn't hers) and it lunged at my dog (a tiny white Maltese mix). My dog ended up with a wound on his neck/back, as well as multiple bruises, requiring vet care. At first, the leasing office was trying to help rectify the situation, help get the other owners to pay for the vet bill and asked the owners to vacate the dog off of the premises. They also said they would do random checks to make sure the dog was vacated off the premises. Because let's get real, they're supposed to be a dog friendly community and shouldn't allow for violent dogs to live there. Anyways, I happened to drive through the community last night and surprise! The owners and the German Shepherd were happily walking on the sidewalk! What happened to the vacating of this dog? Didn't happen. What happened to the random checks? Maybe they did a few? But yet get outsmarted by these irresponsible tenants. And do I have to start driving through the neighborhood on my own to check for these trashy dog owners and report them to the leasing office myself? (I don't live at Civita btw) My suggestion to dog owners who decide to live at WestPark and to existing residents is to be extra cautious because like I said, I thought this dog was vacated, but yet still walking past the gym on the sidewalk and around on the way to the Civita Park. I normally don't write reviews but thought I should share my experience at West Park since it may be helpful to others who are considering moving here. I moved just a couple months ago from out of town and at first it was great. Apartment was nice, maintenance team is fantastic, and location very convenient. However, a few weeks into my lease, I woke up to a couple guys on my balcony (higher floor, not shared with other units). As you can imagine, this was very distressing. Turns out West Park is doing some construction that requires use of my balcony and they failed to notify me AT ALL. The workers built scaffolding next to my balcony and used it to climb onto the balcony, then started placing scaffolding on the balcony itself. I expressed my concerns to management, particularly the part about workers showing up on my balcony without notice. I was told that they were done using my balcony so I shouldn't expect anyone to show up again. However, the scaffolding on the balcony would have to stay for 1-2 months. I was unhappy about the situation but decided to stick it out. The VERY NEXT DAY, workers showed up again without notifying me. I emailed management and they looped in someone working on the construction. He explained why it takes multiple days to put up scaffolding . Of course, I didn't care about that, just about people showing up without advance notice. He also mentioned that the scaffolding would be up for 3-4 MONTHS, contradicting management's timeline. Since then, the scaffolding has reduced the natural light in the unit by half, blocked use of the balcony entirely and ruined the view outside my window. In addition, my sleep was disturbed by SIGNIFICANT construction noise for 3 weeks while they were demolishing something and I am constantly concerned about workers unexpectedly showing up on the balcony. West Park offered $300 off my rent for the trouble, but honestly that's a bit insulting given the degree of inconvenience and how high the rent is. I considered moving out but since I literally just moved in, it would be a huge physical/financial burden and the construction would probably almost done by the time I found a new place and moved. However, today the terms of my lease were broken for the THIRD time as again workers were on the balcony without any notice. I woke up to the sound of them talking outside my bedroom window. At this point, I do not think I will stay at West Park for the rest of my lease and have started exploring other options for the coming months. Even if the construction is over by the time I move out, I don't trust management to fulfill the terms of our lease agreement for the remainder of its time. The constant disregard for my sense of safety and lack of communication is ridiculous and disrespectful. Chances of this happening are probably low if you decide to move here. Then again, I never thought anything like this would happen to me and it's caused so many unnecessary difficulties. In my opinion, living at West Park is not worth the risk or the hassle. read more

While we enjoyed living here (see my previous review), we were extremely disappointed with how West Park handled our renewal. Our renewal offer came in as a $50 increase, even as all identical floor plans had dropped in price by over $200. West Park refused to negotiate (and it felt like a waste of time), then when we gave our notice to move out, we saw the unit list at $200 cheaper than the renewal. Overall, we didn't feel valued as current residents at all. My recommendation for negotiating a renewal if you're unhappy with the price would be to give a notice to move out, see what they list your apartment at, and then ask directly for that price. Other things we found significantly worse after a second year here: - the facade and continuous construction in the morning is definitely a bit annoying, both visually and with how loud it is. Sleeping with windows open is pretty much not possible, depending on your location - there was an intermittent fire alarm/power outage situation that was incredibly annoying to deal with. While that wasn't West Park's fault, it is still a consideration while living here. The number of times I came back to a traumatized dog, or had a headache because the truly ear-piercing alarms were going for an hour around the property with no time to plan made living here significantly worse in the last year. - the wear and tear on appliances, countertops, etc. is noticeable. West Park touts itself as modern luxury, but the interiors definitely show their age and are especially less competitive than all newer Mission Valley complexes, though Civita always wins on location - if you have the option between West Park and Purl for less than a couple hundred more, I'd always recommend Purl read more

I love living at west park. They attend to maintenance requests quickly, I always feel safe even late at night as a girl, and it's just fun. The amenities are awesome- I don't need to buy a gym membership because there are 2 here (one is open 24 hours), there are several pools, and constant events. The events planned by Diana are free to residents and always lovely. There was a complimentary Girl Scout cookie giveaway, I love the cooking nights with Bobby, and today she set up the cutest Valentine's Day bouquet station where you could make a flower arrangement and write a card for a loved one. It's been 3 weeks since I moved into Westpark and couldn't be happier! The staff have been super helpful. Anthony was very supportive during the moving process. The community is very friendly with lots of social activities and great amenities. I love my apartment and the maintenance crew addressed a minor issue with the window blinds immediately. It's a very pet-friendly building. My pup loves going through the lobby to see Erik for a quick massage and treat. The neighborhood is great with lots of dog parks and walking distance to Civita Park. Diana hosts great parties and events, including last night's Carnaval! West park has been a great place to live - quiet, with responsive staff and maintenance, always upkept with beautiful trees/flowers and constantly maintained. The rent is appropriate and does not raise much year to year. Most of all, they host frequent events each month including seasonal ones like pumpkin painting, christmas movie night with hot chocolate and cookies, bouquet making for Valentine's Day, cooking classes regularly , and several others throughout the month, all with thoughtful touches! "I'm so glad you're here" - Erik gently repeated on our move-in day. I couldn't help but smile - what a warm, welcoming phrase to say, as we were exhausted from packing for days only to know what's ahead of us - all the unpacking. But we were in our new home and with that phrase, I was also glad we were here. My fiancé Frank and I moved from Little Italy to West Park, but since Frank is very thorough with key decision making, I assure you we went and saw more apartments than I'd like to admit, from downtown all way up to Oceanside! He wanted to make sure we explored all the options... but I didn't need to, my heart was set on West Park the moment Erik walked us through the property. It is stunning (a resort style living). The pools, the amenities, the sister properties, the theater, the quiet and safe neighborhood, the location... but mostly the people. Erik was our rockstar. And when he was on his days off, we got to work with Stephanie who prides herself on being detail oriented and customer focused- and she sure is! She helped us lock in the place we wanted (and we were very particular). She is warm and kind, and she gets the job done. And Riena, who oversees the staff is awesome. She moves at a speed of light and she is there to give you answers quickly and efficiently. She's built a fantastic team around her. We've been here for a week now and everything we've needed has been answered/provided for us. I will, of course, provide updates as we spend more living time here but wanted to highlight the team who made me feel so glad to finally arrive to our new home. :) read more

Love our new home! West Park is 10-15mins away everything we can think of! Restaurants, Shopping, Beaches, Airport, Downtown, Balboa Park, Amusement parks, Churches. Not to mention being walking distance from Starbucks, Ralphs and other stores! The apartment complex itself is a whole new world itself with amenities like swimming pools- yes salt water pools and jacuzzis, enormous gym, wall climbing, rooftop, movie theater, etc. But more importantly, I think what makes living in Westpark beyond amazing are the staff who go above and beyond their jobs. Chris is the Social Director for Westpark. He is very good at making West Park residents feel at home and welcome with all of Westpark's weekly fun activities from yoga, cooking, movie nights, waffle and food truck days, game nights, BbQs, holiday and monthly endless resident activities. An amazing way to get to know more friends and interact with neighbors specially if you have recently relocated. Chris was one of the first people we met when we moved to San Diego and he has been tirelessly helping us (almost daily) with all of our inquiries and questions, even though he's very busy- and we appreciate that very much. He has introduced us to different people, places and restaurants to go to which has made us feel at home in Westpark and San Diego.- Definitely a big plus having a good friend and someone who can help you out and introduce you to San Diego when you move in! We are also grateful for Eric, because he is also always very nice and helpful to us. We were recently out of town for the holidays and needed someone to assist us with our car issue. Eric went out of his way to help us and called us back as soon as he could, even though it was not a part of his job. Westpark has a lot of residents. We moved into West Park after a bad experience at property managed building nearby. On the day we entered the property we were greeted by Erik and provided with a tour. I noticed how so many of the residents were stopping by to just chat with him about something unrelated to tenancy. His demeanor and disposition were so welcoming. We also hit it off. We toured the property, used his knowledge of what units were available and most suited our family. The time we spent there we were always met with smiles and community. Our little one enjoyed the pool and arcade and open grassy area out front. We also were frequently found at the CIVITA park nearby and the farmer's market. We moved out due to job relocation and the quality of management was exceptional. We really appreciated the kindness that was shown to us during our tenancy. I've lived at West Park for about a year or so now and I can confidently say that they have set the bar of expectations for exceptional apartment living. The location is fantastic due to how centralized it is and you have easy access to the 805 and 163, making commutes much easier. Though most of my stay has been throughout COVID, it was still a pleasurable experience. With lack of access to most amenities, the leasing office still made way for activities for many to enjoy (according to guidelines, of course). Also, the maintenance team is truly unmatched, they're quick to solve any issues you have! My husband and I are also incredibly appreciative of Jester, who has been instrumental from the beginning to end of our stay. He has answered all of our questions and concerns to the best of his ability. Super grateful! read more

Only Cold Showers ***See Bottom, there is an update! (3-29-24) This review is written by a current resident. I have lived here for over 7 years, and wanted to give any potential residents a good idea of what it is like to live here. I moved into building two after it was constructed, from building 1. There have been issues, that are common to many apartments, that are usually addressed in a mostly timely manner, (appliance repair, rodents, garage security). It may take a few requests, but most issues are usually resolved. However, being a long term resident, I can say I have struggled with the water in my apartment. I've made it well aware, several times, the problem with the master bathroom, and kitchen sink. It takes the water more than 10 minutes to warm up. It's been like that for years, despite numerous requests. Each visit I was given the same answer: it must be a plumbing problem.... And nothing after that. Repeat. This has been so frustrating, because with all this excess water usage: 1.It is a waste of natural resources 2. It is an additional cost, significant, incurred by the resident on the monthly bill. 3. It is so difficult to have to take a cold shower when you are in a rush, before work early in the morning, there is nothing "homey" about this situation. As I've said, I've lived here a long time, and still do, for the near future.. This is something any potential renter should be aware of, like the overly sensitive smoke detectors, that don't allow any type of cooking, beyond boiling water and using the microwave. There are positives, which I will list below -Nice amenities, that need more up keeping. Think of a nice place, 10 years later. -Ideal for pets -Safe neighborhood -Easy access to all of San Diego -Nice pools -Community events -Ralph's is across the street ***UPDATE One more time! I again communicated to leasing office the years-existing concern, I formally filed out a work order. They visited the apartment yesterday (3-27-24). And.... nothing, not anytype of response. This is not some impulsive email. I have lived her for years, and have given them ample opportunities to do what I consider the right thing. Remember, unless you use cold water exclusively, it will be difficult to live here. I'm sure they have excuses, but as a resident, there is a substantial fee for water services. So BUYER BEWARE. Make an informed decision when apartment hunting. Especially if you are paying $4K+/month. read more
