I brought my 2009 Chevy Malibu in for an estimate because I wanted the frame addressed, the windshield repaired/replaced as appropriate, and the affected area repainted. J Smitty Automotive provided a preliminary estimate with a Grand Total of $3,985.17. For context, I purchased this vehicle for approximately $6,000, so being quoted nearly $4,000 for the repair was not reasonable to me. What left the interaction with a bad impression was that there was no attempt to recommend a more cost-effective path forward or explain alternatives - only a very high estimate. I then obtained another written estimate elsewhere for the same problem area ("Front Windshield and Frame") totaling $375.00, which I found far more reasonable. To avoid any confusion: the repairs shown in my before - and - after photos were NOT performed by J Smitty Automotive; they were completed by the other shop after I declined this estimate. Based on this experience, I would not recommend proceeding here unless you are comfortable with a risk of significantly inflated pricing.

This is my second time using Maaco for body work repair…read more My car was hit after two cars collided and one rolled into my front end. I luckily only had damage to my front right bumper. Two years ago my car was backed into and damaged my rear driver's side door and I took it to Maaco to replace it. They did such an excellent job with the door replacement, that I never considered going anywhere else. My front end was restored to better than the condition it was in before the accident. They cleaned up my car, inside and outside, so it looks as good as new. Liz is excellent! She remembered me from two years ago and handled the entire insurance claim expertly! All I had to do was drop the car off and pick it up when it was done. If you need body work, I'd recommend you go this shop for the work. You won't be disappointed!

I went to get my pumper fixed at a season where they had a crazy work case load. They work with both insurance companies to make sure everything is organized and paid for. Which since I was rear ended and it wasn't my fault the other insurance company paid for the repairs. They also found additional damage that was caused to the rear when taking the pumper off to put on the new one. They called and informed the insurance company that was paying for the repairs on my behalf and they also were able to get that covered for me. Over all great experience. Also on a side note my door handle just broke on my driver side door. Needless to say its a no brainer where I am going to go. I just called them and will be having them give me an estimate later before they close today.

My vehicle was in their possession after a car accident for about 2 weeks. Multiple discussions were had with Frank (owner) and Cameron (receptionist) in regard to my coming to retrieve my belongings still in the car. I was assured on multiple occasions that my belongings would be removed from the vehicle and held elsewhere until I was able to collect them. When my belongings were scheduled to be collected, the only item that Carman Body Works was able to produce were my old license plates. The reasoning they gave was "the trunk could not be opened." This is in fact an untrue statement. I was able to open my trunk just after my car accident to retrieve other personal belongings. Therefore, the reasoning that the trunk would not open is not valid. Even so, as the car was deemed a total loss, no attempt was made by Carman Body Works to contact me or my insurance company prior to the car being removed from the premise. I have contacted my insurance company letting them know not to work with this repair shop and I hope I can spare others the misfortune of dealing with Carman Body Works as well.
