I struck out on the SNKRS app this morning for the Nike SB Dunk Low "Matcha" and decided to brave the line to try to get a pair at 10:00 AM. The release at 510 was FCFS and had a claim ticket process which helped people know if their size was still available or not. At most other skate shops in the Bay Area, there is either a raffle process or website only release (in which you stand no chance against the bots). Overall the process was very efficient and I was able to get my size. Thank you 510!

    What do we have here???

Awesome shop! I used to come here quite a bit back in the day, but it had been probably 5-10 years (pun intended) since I last visited. What brought me back was that I won a raffle for some sneakers, which was pretty cool! I came in during one of the assigned days to pick up the shoes, and it was super easy and smooth. I just had to show ID, and was probably in and out in 5 minutes or so. As far as the shop goes, they were practicing social distancing as expected and mandated. Aside from skate shoes, they have a huge wall with skateboard decks, and sell skateboard hardware and components as well. There's also a nice selection of skateboard apparel. I'll definitely be back again, and hopefully will win some more kicks!

Ask the Community - 510 Skateboarding

Can you replace one of the rubber belts on my boosted board? My buddy did it for me last time and it took about 10 minutes. I'm not technical and need help.

hello, we just sell/service traditional skateboards so no experience with booster boards. Good luck getting that taken care of. -Jerry

We do not sell bearing cleaners, but we do sell bearing lubricant. We do sell Thunder trucks.

How much will a complete set up cost?

A complete set up will have a range in cost from around $115 at the lowest end and up to a little over $200 at the very highest end. It really depends what parts you pick out.

They don't look as good as when I bought them... THEY LOOK BETTER. Worried it's pretentious? I've found it to be the friendliest, realest, most helpful, most easygoing brick-and-mortar shopping experience I've had in the Bay Area. I usually come in on my way home from the gym, wearing ratty athleisure, from brands they don't carry, and I've never caught an ounce of vibe. Most of the staff have been here for years; that says something too. Old-world ethos, old-school service. We're lucky that businesses like this one -- and the craftspeople whose goods they stock -- still exist. Wishing this fine enterprise many more years.

Then more people came in and were helped, so we waited. And more, so we waited. When we asked how much longer it would be until we were helped, we were given a seat at a table to review suit/tuxedo offerings. Another customer tried to speak up for us and let her know we were waiting. More people came in and were helped, and we waited. We asked a couple more times when we would be helped. After an hour of waiting, we left. I think I counted 15 groups that came in while we waited - all young women getting alterations done and one young man ordering accessories. My son uses a wheelchair and we were there to rent a full tux. I don't know why we weren't helped, but it's hard not to believe the neglect was due to his multiple disabilities. This was a very disappointing and disheartening experience. I'm glad so many people have had great experiences, but if you're disabled I would recommend going somewhere else. And maybe if you're able-bodied, please consider supporting other businesses that don't discriminate. The owner did allow my son to use the bathroom while we waited, which we really appreciated. Outside of that, it was a pretty bad experience.
