I love dominican cake!! I have eaten good ones & the not so good ones, but I am not an expert. I just know that this slice of dominican cake was suuuuppeeeer delicious & it satisfied my craving for it. It was soooo soft, soooo moist, with just the right amount of frosting & sweetness. The taste of the cake was fantastic! Highly recommended for your dominican cake cravings! read more

*4.5 stars* Ordered a few times from this place, never been inside so my review is based off just that. I have tried dulce de leche croissant, brazo gitano strawberries cake, cornbread, pound cake, cinnamon raisin roll, pandebono, carrot cake, oatmeal cookie and chicken quesadilla from here and every single item has always been consistently tasty, even when ordering more than once. Typically very quick delivery and everything is always packaged very well with napkins and utensils. My absolute favorites are the cake, oatmeal cookie and carrot cake but everything else is very good too. The prices are so reasonable and affordable and great portion sizes. Will definitely be ordering from here again. read more

This is my second time getting Dominican cake from this bakery, they never disappoint. Omg!!! Got a cake on Saturday for my children birthday by the time I realized all was gone. Highly recommended this bakery . read more

Stopped here in December and ordered a cream puff paste and another pastry. First, I cannot at all relate to the comments about them being so warm and welcoming and kind - everything felt very rushed, hectic zero smiles and welcoming at all. Second, probably because I do not have a Spanish accent, I was treated as a tourist who was stumbling in. Unfortunately for them, I just moved into the neighborhood and was trying out places. First and last time here: They overcharged me by more than 100 % !! I was supposed to pay 5 Dollars and ended up paying 12....! When I complained saying that cannot be right, she just gave the Money back without being neither surprised - nor apologizing. Her colleague instead gave her a really mean look, said sorry for her and you could see how embarrassed she was, you could clearly see the person who had served me does it regularly. On top of that, when I came home, I tried the puff pastry and it was absolutely terrible: it was at least 2 days old and though I hate throwing away food and rarely do so, I had to. AVOID BY ANY MEANS, THIS PLACE IS A SCAM. I bet Tons of Family and Friends are giving fake ratings. read more

Best tres leches cake! Also can't go wrong with their other yummy pastries. I love the guava and cheese. The palmier cookies are so flaky!

Cakes are so delicious here. I did my baby shower cake & added two different layers. One was chocolate with caramel filling. Second layer was 3 leches. The taste was so good & creamy. Ppl were asking me where did I go to get the cake etc. I was so happy to pick up my cake here , and they also added the decorations I had bought. Friendly service & clean. This little bakery also gets full of ppl quickly and cakes go out the window once they are displayed in the fridge. I Would deff be coming back for any other event I have going. read more

This place hit the ball right out of the ball park. First and foremost, they are a bakery and have the freshest bread! If you need a (Dominican) cake in a pinch (or not), not only will they make and personalize it but they will also deliver it! Their food is delicious and tidily presented. The Cuban sandwich and omelettes are my favorites. I was not too thrilled with the cuban pastelitos since they were dry and lacking flavor but the other small bites hit the mark. Their coffee is superior to your run of the mill place and I cannot rave any more about their fresh juices. I love the Red juice combo of beets, carrots and orange juice which is always perfectly balanced. Service is always prompt, courteous and best of all the place is cleaner than most in the area. Their delivery range is pretty large and I've never had any issues. Definitely check them out when you're in the area. read more

Good neighborhood bakery with a large selection of baked goods. I have visited several times and there are usually a line after work hours but it moves fairly quickly. The cakes are good, not saturated with sugar like Carrot Top, and reasonably priced. Other than the sweets, I have tried the empanadas but wasn't a fan. The filling is too little and not flavorful. read more

I am so glad to have found 5 Estrellas (even though it's 4 estrellas for me) and will surely order again and again, especially when I want an awesome spread of pastries to feed house guests. 5E's pastry work is really impressive. Of the ones I tried, they really nail all the different variations. Plus they're serving up some decent fresh (read: not scooped out of a pan on a steam table) MTO food. I found all of the savory items (MTO order dished and filled pastries) to be mildly seasoned. I prefer a more aggressive seasoning approach. But everything still tasted good since they're using quality ingredients (especially their protein picks) and composed every dish well. And this could arguably make them any household's best option since you are sure to not overpower milder palates and just need a little S&P, Sazón, and hot sauce on hand for the spicier peeps. I made my way through: Pastelitos Cubanos: so flaky. Just enough of that nice beef filling. Perfect whether on their own or notched up with a little squeeze of Sriracha or chipotle crema from your fridge. Sure to be a favorite. Guava and cheese pastel: look at that thing! Huge portion. Perfect balance of filling (you get an equal bite of guava and queso in every bite). And a killer pastry. Kid you not? I just stated drooling thinking about it. Pan de Queso: good. A nice on the go bite. Spinach and cheese omelette (I added bacon & sausage): a steal of a price for a very nice omelette. Perfect choice of sausage patty, plus good quality, well-cooked bacon. Just note that the added proteins will be put in the container along with the omelette, not added as a filling. Next time I order I plan to put a note to see if they will do an add-in. Either way, this made for a thumbs up breakfast. Egg & cheese hero (I added American cheese & sausage): It looked just ok, but actually tasted really good! The bread is what puts this one over the top. Flaky on the outside, a little chew on the inside & absorbs just enough of the eggy/cheesy/meaty goodness. I'm a mayo dude but didn't need it at all. A humble sandwich that came through. Guava cake: hands down the prettiest and tastiest guava cake I've ever had. Look at that marbling! Huge piece. And there I go drooling again. 'Nuff said! Pork quesadilla: text book quesadilla. Nothing fancy. Their pernil is tasty and tender. And all at a good price. But mine didn't come with the guac or sour cream listed on the menu. For me, it really needed it. I'd order again as long as I had the right condiments in my fridge. Or if I had a younger niece/nephew over (it's a really mild flavor that should work well for kiddo taste buds). Ham & cheese relleno: I was most excited about this beauty. It was definitely was the prettiest and (to me) tastiest of the pastries. I could have that as non-filled pastry with a little butter and be a happy man. I will order again to see if I get a better one...but the one I received had hardly any ham in it (certainly not like what others have pictured; I had to go ham hunting) and I couldn't see or taste any cheese. Maybe they used catupiry or another soft cheese and this type of pastry (which is fluffy and absorbent) absorbed it? Fingers crossed for next try. Yuca de queso: good. Tender yuca. Nice flavor. And now I am left staring at the menu and wondering whether I will leave the food in my fridge right where it is and place another 5 Estrellas order. I hope you try them out and enjoy as much (if not more!) than I did! read more

COVID 19 delivery. I got several things to try: bacon, egg, and cheese on croissant, pastelitos cubanos, yuca de queso, and a ham and cheese relleno. The croissant was flaky, had well seasoned eggs, chewy, thick bacon, and gooey cheddar cheese. The pastelitos cubanos, which is a Cuban puff pastry with savory filling, had tasty beef inside. Very good. The ham and cheese relleno, a bread product stuffed with filling, was ok, but I wouldn't order it again. It was a very thick bread and there seemed to be a lot more bread than ham or cheese. The yuca de queso is stuffed cheese inside a fried yuca ball. It was gooey and had good flavor, but is very heavy. Overall, this was a good experience and I would explore more dishes from this establishment. Oh, all of this was also very affordable, about 20 bucks for all this! read more

First and last time ordering from this spot. They couldn't even be bothered to wrap my guava cake and cornbread, they literally just threw it in a nasty paper bag with no covering. And the cornbread was dry as hell, literally wasn't even edible I immediately threw it out. Bread pudding was nasty AF, also thrown in the trash. 2 stars for the Cheesecake which was OK. Can only base it off of the one thing we got- The little yellow cake drenched in chocolate with sprinkles. They're Delicious, moist, and fresh. And at $2 each, they're cheap. Loud. Small. But fast and delicious. Perfect place to grab some pastries for breakfast and also a great place to have some fried goodies either on the spot or ordered. I usually have the oatmeal, which is served in a coffee cup, as it is meant to be had as a drink. It's always fresh and in high demand. I accompany my oatmeal with a cheese toast which consist of a hero-length bread pressed with cheese. Delicious and cheap. They also have cakes, which I actually recently tried at a work event, and is definitely a great Dominican cake and from what I was told, it is sold for 35$ the pound. Not bad! Keep in mind it it's small, always full, and Spanish is spoken almost exclusively. read more

Happened to be walking around the area hunting for snacks for some hot nurses. Rather than doing the usual donuts and muffins, I wandered into this local bakery instead. What a find! Everything on display looks super fresh and delicious. And you know it's legit because there are plenty of locals here chowing down on pastries and sipping on their coffees. The portions here are also huge! I got some palmera, coconetes, plus some carrot cakes. Everything was about $2 or less, which is amazing considering the size/portion. Also got a piece of that delicious looking chocolate cake with nuts for myself because I just couldn't resist. Everything was good and relatively better compared to the other bakeries in the area. read more

Found out they sell avena here and I was excited! The place is small and I know it gets busy. I stopped by around 8am and there was maybe 3 other people. Not too bad. You have a choice between a small and a large (see picture for the size comparison). The large is HUGE! I'm definitely going to be eating/drinking it throughout the day. If you want black coffee. Make sure to specify. They asked me how many sugars I want and I informed the lady "zero. Just black coffee." But once I got to the office and opened the lid, it was the works. Milk and sugar all included. Oh well. Better luck next time. Also there's only one size option I believe. The avena is creamy. The consistency is to the point where they don't even give you a spoon. You basically drink it. My coworkers have had their food here and they love it. I'll be back again! read more

Nice small bakery tucked in the corner of 161st and Broadway. The cake displays are always enticing when I walk past the bakery, so I finally decided to go in and check the place out. It was filling without being heavy, with just the right level of sweetness. I'll definitely be back to try the other available cakes! read more

A small little bakery, but with many delicious looking options. The pastries themselves were large and fresh-appearing. Service was fast! My friend decided to get the Tres Leches cake. He is a very seasoned TL cake eater, and agreed that it was one of the best he's had in New York. The cream is light on top, the cake is pretty dense and didn't get overly spongy even after 1 hour in the plastic container. The condensed milk at the bottom was amazing, even drinkable if you wanted to get a little sugar high after your cake. read more
