Very good grilled dorado (mahi-mahi) tacos with some house made aioli. Richelle got the Carnitas (beef) chimichangas with queso (cheese), it's stuffed with nicely seasoned slow roasted beef. Big enough we had some for take home. We got the churro's for dessert, very good too. Service is fast and friendly, we were there during a shift change and no issues. Our experience was great from start to finish. Daniella was our waitress and she did a great job translating from Spanish to English. We started with Chorizo Nachos - so delicious! A must have! Disappointed with the service. Took an abnormally long time to get seated, despite the restaurant not being busy in the slightest. After placing our order, close to an hour goes by with no food or engagement from the staff. A waitress comes to the table an hour after ordering and asks if we were ready to order. Walked to the bathroom and see a group of employees standing around in a circle on the kitchen hitting their vapes. Keep in mind well over an hour now since placing an order. We go to Dorado often and keep going back to 5 de Mayo. The service is excellent, the food is great. Probably the best Mexican restaurant in the area if not in PR. We wish they had more space so that they could accommodate more people to avoid the wait for a table when it is their peak hour. Two suggestions to the owner: expresso machine and Splenda for the "light" margaritas. read more

Food is ok but service needs improvement. Some waitresses are not diligent enough bringing in good service or proper attention to customers. On sunday afternoon we (3) visited 5 de mayo, waited for a long period of time and no one came to take our order. Finally we got served at the bar our first round of beers and that was all we had. Waitresses kept coming around the bar and never had the courtesy to ask if we need something else or want to order from menu. They were just hanging out in the restaurant and didnt pay attention to us at all. Its a shame and lack of professionalism behaving that way and not giving proper care to customers....we just pay our bill and left the place with no intention of coming back. Probably one of the best new restaurants in town! Everything you order is good! The margaritas are especially delightful. I have ordered the chicken tacos, the fish tacos, the chicken salad, salad with salmon, and I have not been disappointed yet! The chips and salsa(when the chips are fresh) are very good! I truly enjoy this place. I always get the nachos cinco de mayo and the fried pork. I've also had the pleasure of having their mixed drinks which are amazing. If you like spicy I strongly recommend the green sauce that is served with the complimentary chips. I use that sauce on everything. PS. I'm not crazy about the fried avocado salad... We were in town just for a few days on vacation and this is by far the best restaurant in Dorado. Jois was awesome and the food was fantastic!! We have a family of 6 full of picky eaters and there was something for everyone. The mole enchiladas and shrimp tacos were the best we've ever experienced. The food here is really good. Obviously is not completely authentic just like every other Mexican restaurant in Puerto Rico, since most of them do serve some Tex-Mex dishes because it is culturally the way it was developed in the island. This restaurant offers a great variety of drinks, very elaborate dishes and most of their ingredients are fresh or made from scratch. It is expensive due to the quality of their ingredients and maybe also due to its location, but I would recommend this place for anyone looking to grab good Mexican dishes. The downside is that since everything is fresh and made from scratch, orders may sometimes take too long, but if you go on a weekday during low traffic hours everything would be just fine. Also, the place is not very big, so I would not recommended for a group too big, unless you call up ahead and maybe they will set up some space and help you out. read more
