We were greeted very quickly, asked if we had any questions about the menu. I checked reviews before we ate. Someone was here 2 hours before us and gave 5 stars. I thought the chips and salsa were a little greasy and not very fresh. We sat inside and it was very comfortable. The restroom was very small, but clean. There was soap but no paper towels. We were able to get a seat quickly and the servers were moving. Inside and outside seating available. Unfortunately, getting our food took over 45 min after the appetizers. We also just wanted queso without all the additional toppings and still had to pay $18 for it as there wasn't another option. Drinks we had were just ok. Right off the corner near Anita gelato. Outside seating is offering, it's in la Calle . The food comes out quickly, don't order the queso. It's exactly that, unless you put the cheese on something it's not as fluid as one might be use too. It's literally warm cheese. I ordered the shrimp tacos(not pictured) I ate them quickly con salsa verde. Heat from the salsa was so good I came back the following day. Yes English is spoken, Spanish is highly appreciated in their establishment as many are happy at your attempt or mastery of learning the language. I stopped here to grab some lunch and this seemed to be a different and authentic spot to try. It sits right near various restaurants in Old San Juan. The guy talked us into to trying out this place as we were walking and looking. There is an option to sit inside or out and we choose in as it looked like it may rain. It was a nice little spot. The area was upbeat and lively. The doors remained open which gave it an airy feeI decided on the Chicken wrapped entree stuffed with shrimp. My friend got the Empanadila. The chicken wrapped items were just ok for me. They were suppose to be stuffed with shrimp but I did not find any. The Empanadilas were good. Not to much pastry but just enough. We also got the fried cheese. It was ok. In this case I would have to say that the Passion Fruit Margarita was probably the best item this time around. First of all this place is right in the heart of old city in midst of all the hustle bustle which makes for a perfect mid meal option, specially if you are a tourist. I won't call it a tourist trap simply because the food here is good but oh boy anything you order takes forever. So be ready for an hour long wait without any apology or sense of rush from the servers. Somehow I have accepted the fact that the mojitos in San Juan will be served sweet with the least potent alcohol, no surprises here as well. Fried empanadas with octopus meat was the killer dish. Loved every bite into the crispy hot empanadas and the warm, soft and juicy meat. Ten on ten for the dish. Garlic shrimps mofongo was delicious was well; generous quantity of shrimps and garlic with soft plantain cake. Only thing that concerned me was that the shrimps weren't clean enough. I could see the black veins on most of the shrimps, while I know it's edible I was concerned about the digestive issues. And it did later on, I suffered from stomach cramps all the way on my flight back to NewYork, so did my friend. I would still say the food was delicious though not sure if it was worth the pain later. Recommend this place for some authentic fusion Mexican, just be careful of the wait time. read more

I honestly wouldn't recommend going to a mexican restaurant in Puerto Rico, the food is very expensive and not authentic. Even the chips and salsa are $4.50 which are usually free in the fanciest Mexican restaurants in the states or Mexico. We honestly got caught in the rain and wanted to kill time in this restaurant for the rain to stop so that we didn't get wet but we killed our wallet instead. So why are we eating Mexican food in Puerto Rico? Because, the kids wanted a change of pace. This joint competes with The Chapel for the many tourists that walk the streets of Old San Juan. Tourist trap? Sure, why not? Service? Our guy was excellent and had a very good command of the English language. He was friendly and pointed out some of the attractions of the area. Food? The Al Pastor pork and shrimp tacos were letdowns. The pork was not the traditional Al Pastor, meaning the meat was not shaved from a spit and cooked on a flat top. Rather, it was sauteed pieces of pork which really did not have a ton of flavor. The same could be said about the flavor of the shrimp in the wife's tacos. Drinks? Good. If I could give zero stars I would. Servers were really nice but the drinks took forever to come out. Manager was a complete asshole. Their power went out and they told us that our food wasn't coming out. We made other plans and most of our party left to the next spot. As we were waiting for our check for two drinks they suddenly bring out food for the whole table. The servers told the manager what they told us but the manager wasn't having it and forced us to pay the whole bill. The food was wasted. Never seen such horrible customer service. read more

Ate there in the midweek and it was really tasty. If you don't mind being accosted by the helpers out front trying to win your business, you'll be fine. Once past that gauntlet, it's a real nice setting and outside ambiance, sitting in the street. We had another table nearby playing music and singing - it's SUPER casual. We shared a $18 combo plate of soft tacos and rice and beans and it was really very good, I had no complaints and enough for both of us. They provided free chips in the worlds smallest bowl, which made me laugh (because normally you get like a basket of chips), but this mini-chip-bowl was fine with it's 4 chips. Their homemade salsas are fire-engine worthy, be careful. Overall very happy, great location of course and views and people - very fun. The food was really good and the help colorful and eager to please. We'd go back, which is the nicest thing I can say. read more

We ordered chips and salsa, and when it came out, it was salsa verde and was HOT HOT HOT. I love spicy food, but it's weird that their default dish is so hot. Anyway, it took forever to make the server understand that we also wanted pico. The first thing he brought us was a tomato soup-tasting sauce (and it was hot temp-wise), but he finally brought pico. My vegetarian enchiladas weren't terrible, but they were basically peppers and onions and nothing else inside. The side of guac that supposedly came with the dish was really a spoonful. The chipotle sauce was good, though. There are several other vegetarian options on the menu. *The beans are not vegetarian* We didn't get asked if we wanted more drinks, it took forever to get our check, and the food was overpriced for what we got.
