I could not be happier. I've ended up bringing my grandmother's needlepoint pillow that had missing stitches, two family quilts *loved* to death by generations, and an antique beaded purse that I found at a yard sale and needed a lot of help. I plan on giving the purse to my daughter to hopefully start a new family tradition. All were cleaned (they have a woman who cleans fragile antique textiles specially) and then beautifully repaired and restored. I shopped around at other rug cleaners and they're all in the same general price bracket. Russell's offered a 20% discount if I brought the rugs in instead of having them pick up. I also found there's no one else who can repair this variety of heirlooms, and with such old fashioned attention to detail. Highly recommend.

Ok, before we start, I'd like to say that I'm no dry-cleaning connoisseur, so you can take my…read morereview as a grain of salt. Anyway, the location is convenient, depending on where you're coming from. There exists only about 4 parking spots right in front of the store next to an auto shop. A little place that's full of clothing racks. The only spot you had to move was by the door and the cashier's desk. So, I dropped of my friend's graduation gown that I borrowed and a dress made of polyester, cotton, and spandex (could've been machine washed, but I didn't want to ruin it), and it was ready about 4-5 days later. The gown cost $10 and the dress cost $9.50 to dry-clean. The price took me by surprise because I got 9 items of apparel dry cleaned at less than $4 each in Baton Rouge at Tiger Tailoring (Lee Drive). I don't know if it has anything to do with the quality of the work because none of the clothes I brought in had stains in. No way to tell, but I'm sure if I had a big fat impossible stain on something, I could write a better review. Now, on to the hangers. One of my pet peeves is having wire hangers. I brought my clothes in on my own plastic hangers so that I wouldn't get wire hangers back. I hate how they screech across the rod! However, I didn't notice this until I actually hung up my clothes in my closet T_T; It's laughable that I'm making a deal out of this hanger thing, but seriously, I want my plastic hangers back lol. I'm guessing that's why their service is a little pricey (compared to other places I've been to). Just kidding!! At least the guy who helped me was very nice and told me to have a good day. Four stars for overall service. One star was docked because I couldn't get over the price or the wire hangers lol.

The King Star is a solid dry-cleaner in Algiers…read more While this location isn't close to my home or work, it is where I bring clothes when I want them done correctly. The shop uses a computerized tagging system which avoids the hand written receipts at other shops I have used. I always worry that those aren't a good method of tracking items. This fear may be unfounded since i haven't ever lost anything, but I do like the computerized method. They're cleaning and pressing are top notch. It isn't cheap at $4 a piece, but they are the only cleaner who consistently gets my items the way I like. Why three stars when it is a four-five star cleaner? It takes two days to have your clothes ready. The other cleaners I use only take a day. I do recommend King Star if you are in the area.
