Had a terrible experience here. The equipment is old fashioned and unhygienic.

I hasten to add not tears of ecstasy. It's an odd relationship. You lie there with your head poking out through the hole of the massage table in your disposable knickers, hoping that you didn't miss a patch shaving your legs. But all that self consciousness evaporates when someone is digging their elbow in your back. "Just relax your leg." "I am." "Wow you are tense." Let me tell you feeling a popping sensation in your back is not hot. Having a masseuse take a focused battle to those muscles incites a range of emotions, such as you want her to win but you want her to stop too (she did ask me to speak up if the pressure was too much, so you do have control). "What popped?" "Oh that's just your muscles you have lots of knots. I am pushing them back were they should be." "Oh." "You are very tense." "I'm sorry." Why did I just apologise I asked myself. She looked at me with the same thought. "So yeah, you should do this more often." "OK." "Also you probably will be very sore tomorrow so get some anti-inflammatory cream." At this point you may be thinking, "Jez Annie you really sold this place to me and the massage." It was 20% bearable pain for me and the rest was very relaxing, also I opted for a deep tissue massage which as the name implies is not going to be sweetness and light. I also appear to be a very uptight person with an extraordinarily tense body. I have Woody Allen muscle tendencies. €60 for 1 hour. Usually it's €80 but they have loads of summer specials, just check out their website. P.S Thank you Edel N & Sharon C for liking my check in tip, your support carried me through the pain.

I made an appointment to get a 30min back massage in my lunch break the other day. My therapist was the lovely Laura who brought me to the relaxation area first and then offered me a robe. I told her I was on my break and needed to go back to the office so she tailored her usual routine to suit my schedule without compromising on time spent on my back. The massage itself was very good, good pressure and little talking - just the way I Iike it. The spa offers different deals depending on the weekday and they do run a loyalty scheme for returning clients. I will certainly be back soon and I will reserve the last star for when I tried one of their facials.

When you first walk down the alleyway, you might think "I mean, I know I'm in D4, but what kind of place is this?" Don't worry, keep going. Once you get inside it is SUCH a relaxing atmosphere. I saw the lovely Gillian (or Jillian, not sure how she spells it). I admitted itd been a very long time since I'd gone in for a wax, like YEARS, and I was a bit nervous about the pain. No, take that back, really nervous. But she reassured me the whole way through and let me know what to expect every step of the way. She explained everything she was doing and why, and even gave me tips afterwards how to care for everything and avoid ingrown hairs. She even helped make jokes to make me laugh along the way which did help distract from the pain. I don't know about the other ladies there at the salon, but if they're at all like Gillian, you'll love them!! Oh, and they do a points/rewards programme every time you have something done there. There manis also seem reasonably priced, so will definitely be back again soon!

The salon is really clean and new, and stocks Dermologica and Cowshed products. I was tempted to buy everything! When I was on the bed in the therapy room, i felt so relaxed as the bed was heated and really comfy. The tinting and waxing were done so quickly and well that I will definitely return. It is a really calming and nice experience in this salon, Edel really looked after me and made me feel like a valued customer.

Men are said to be simple. Tell me about it... Not ! Anyway, I was thinking of my killing outfit when a thought crossed my mind like a shooting star in a dark night. I couldn't wear anything and needed to find a Beauty Salon urgently ! One start for the Name ! Heaven, I'm in Heaven, And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak; And I seem to find the happiness I seek When we're out together dancing, cheek to cheek. One star for the Spot ! On Lower Grand Canal Street, it is so practical for the girls who don't live close (enough) to city centre. On top of that, the shop is discrete, it's like a little piece of Heaven of Earth. One star for the Range of Treatments ! Even if the shop is quite cosy (meaning relatively small), they offer a wide range of services : - waxing (male & female) - facials (dermatologica ) - spray tan (sun lust & whitetobrown) - manicures & pedicures (nailitiques) - swedish massage (in snow??) - nails - hand & feet - threading - and eyes I tried the full leg waxing and I was enchanted. Julie Toner, the Head Therapist, was taking care of me. She is a fully qualified Beauty Instructor and does a great job indeed. It was a great waxing experience. My legs are impeccable and smooth ! :( She didn't speak that much. Not that I am a chatterbox kind of person but I like making a bond with the person who is taking care of me. It makes me feel comfortable. One star for the price ! €33 - Which is very affordable from my point of view. I had checked some other places before and Heaven has very competitive prices. In terms of waxing they also offer : - Bikini : €16 - Full leg & bikini : €45 (you save €4) - Lip wax : €10 - Underarm wax : €15 - And a lot more... I want more ! Between you and me, I think I have found my new Beauty Spot. Heaven has such a comprehensive range of services, and affordable on top of that. Why not just take a slice of Heaven when it's pouring rain outside ? For more info, check this link : www.teamheaven.com PS : And of course, I will let you know how long it takes me to have Yeti legs again. See you in Heaven ! XD

Ranelagh

WOW! ...what else can I say?!…read more Goodbye wax & hello Sugar!! I'm a devoted Hollywood girl so trust me when I tell you I've never had a better experience or result than my very first sugar waxing! I have sensitive skin and have always lost patches of skin on my inner-thighs to waxing (even when I went for Lycon!) but the sugar treatment is very gentle as well as effective - I am as smooth as silk now with hardly any pain and no red patches of raw skin. So much for the treatment, now to the salon... This place is beautiful, I felt like a goddess the moment I walked in. The service was really pleasant - very welcoming and attentive. Andi looked after my treatment & she's an absolute gem! :) She never rushed, she was very careful and meticulous - not a single hair left behind (lol!)! I couldn't have had a better experience and I can't recommend Sugar & Spice more highly! I'm definitely going to be a regular :) -Jenni xx

The girls in Sugar and Spice Waxing are so friendly (special mention goes to Jenny!) and they always make you feel completely comfortable. The prices aren't bad either. The only thing I would say is be careful if your skin is in any way sensitive as I noticed a few red spots after the sugaring which I didn't get with other kinds of waxing. But I think my skin was just getting used to it because the second time I went there was nothing. All in all very highly recommended.

Whilst on the 1st floor off Baggot Street there was no street noises and the reception definitely has an air of calm and professionalism. It offers everything you'd expect of a salon from hand, feet, body treatments to waxing, make up, etc. They are renowned for their pedicures, so yes our Irish summer hasn't give us many reasons to get the saddles out but keeping your feet in good order with a little pamper feel to it, then pop along to Essentials... You won't be disappointed! Their pedicure stations are top notch, amazing comfortable seats which make sure that throughout your treatment, you are relaxed, at ease and amazingly comfortable throughout. There is no rushing once your treatment is over, so you can take your time ensuring your toes are perfectly dry. I've been coming here regularly for back massages and the therapist has been excellent. Elena really helped work out some knots in my back and by coming back, she's built on her work from the previous week which is really great and shows a great level of commitment and attention to their customers... However, a few friends have raved about Essentials so I decided to give them a try last week. Their salon is very clean and the staff are professional. I was promptly greeted, taken to my chair, and asked to pick out a colour. The therapist quickly got to work and spent the next 45 minutes making sure my feet and toes were public ready. Unfortunately, while my toes looked lovely, it felt more like a clinical treatment rather than a spa treatment. The chair was just a chair, no back massagers to be found. And after my cuticles were cleaned up, I received a 45 second massage per foot, and that was it. For €55 I expected more.
