I had a photoshoot and went there to get my eyebrows shaped. Firstly, I had to buy a mask that gave a big rash around my mouth, then I felt a lot of pain after the work underneath my eyebrows. I thought it was just because my skin was somehow more sensitive than normal but I found out the next day, I had a very bad burn under my eyebrows. I contacted them initially about the issue with the mask, just to alert them and help other customers and I got an email with a long explanation of how it was not caused by them and how other people were not affected. So I thought it was pointless to tell them about the severe burn I had. The pictures are attached. Today is day 5 and it still hurts quite a lot.

Who…read moredoesn't :) 1* For the response time : It's Wednesday night and I browsing on my phone, in my bed, for a spa close from where I live and with treatment at a reasonable price. That's when I remember a poster I saw along the Luas line advertising a new Spa in Smithfield. I check on facebook, here they are ! 10.15pm : I decide to enquire about body wraps 10.30pm : I get a response that they do provide this treatment 10.45pm : I have an appointment for Thursday evening at 6pm 11pm : I fall asleep, content 1* For the reception area : As soon as I entered the Spa I felt overwhelmed by peace. The place is quiet and warm. Perfect combination. The beauty therapist is waiting for me to fill in some health related details - compulsory before starting any treatment. They even offer me some water without me asking. 1* For the changing room : The therapist shows me the locker I am going to use and explains what I need to do. The room is not very big but it has a locker with 8 section, for 8 clients at the same time. Each locker has a cosy bathrobe, some biodegradable underwear and slippers. There is also a chair in the room. 1* For the beauty room : When I am ready changing, the therapist shows me the way to the beauty room. The place is new and clear and well presented. The therapist explains the procedure for the treatment and then leaves the room while I slip under the towel on the beauty bed. There are plenty of little lights on the ceiling. I prefer to think of them as stars, that's the romantic me talking. 1* For the treatment : The first part is scrubing. I am on my back. Every limb is scrubbed thoroughly. I really appreciated that the therapist took the time to uncover every part one at a time. She even took special care to hide my chest with a smaller towel so that we could scrub my stomach without reveiling anything else. Then I turned over and again she scrubbed. Once this was done, I was invited to go in the shower area (in the room of course) and rince off all the product. There was a hand towel to help me, a bath towel waiting for me after the shower and an extra pair of underwear. She paid special attention to clean my feet before anything so I would slide on the floor. The rest of the treatment was smooth. I was covered in a very moisturising cream/mask which was applying with a relaxing massage. I was finally wrapped in a warm blanket over the towel. While I was 'cooking' the therapist gave me a scalp massage, which she had asked me permission for earlier in the procedure. Simply amazing. 1* For the timing : 75 minutes of pure heaven. 1* For the overall experience : I am so happy of how it all went. I left definitely relaxed and happy. We were brought to the relaxation room. It's cosy with huge chairs and cushions. We were brought to our treatment room. I love the way we could get changed into dressing gown in the room. The room was very relaxing. I had the coconut foot soak, hot towel back compress, relaxing back, neck and shoulder massage, Dermalogica Facial and foot massage. From start to finish was so relaxing. Best massage ever. When I went back into the relaxation we had Presecco and chocolates ready for us. I got the Relax & Renew spa package that was reduced from €119 to €69 in December, which included a coconut foot soak, Dermalogica facial, Indian head massage and a back, hand and foot massage. The offers change every month, but I know for January 2016, it €59 for the skin treatments like microdermabrasion and illuminating facials and 40% discount on massages. I've also had a deep tissue massage here which was pretty good but shorter than I expected (~40 mins). The girls here are really nice and friendly and they always do my Shellac perfectly (although they don't do complimentary removal even if you got it there, which costs an extra €5). The nail art is pretty limited in that they don't seem to do the really funky designs. You can get simple things like glitter, stars, hearts etc. though. They also seem to have some unique treatments that you don't come across everyday like ear candling, seaweed facials, body wraps and massage as well as special treatments like laser (non-contract), IPL red vein removal, facial peels and callus removal. The prices in general are slightly lower than most city centre salons (facials cost around €70 up), and the online booking system allows you to made instantaneous appointments via phorest without having to wait for confirmation. Overall, nice salon with friendly staff, a range of treatments and interesting special offers.

I carry all my stress in my back and lately it's just been bothering me all day, I know that it's all mental emotion that a fortnight in the Maldives would solve but alas I have bills to pay. Friday I decided it was time for a deep tissue massage so I called Siobhan and arranged a 45 min session for €45. I've had massages before but with Siobhan she sat down with me before hand to chat about my lifestyle and explain what the massage would entail. I've never had that type of thoroughness, it put my mind at ease and you can really tell that she genuinely cares about her clients and wants them to feel better. As the stress was contained in my back she focused on that area, doing movements that I had never had before such as manipulating my arms and raising my neck, it felt so good. Afterwards she explained that my back is still incredibly tense, which I honestly knew one session would not be enough but I never got the vibe that she was trying to up sell me at all, in fact the opposite she strongly encouraged me to get into yoga and stretch more. Again it's that care and love for what she does that really rubs off on you. I definitely intend to go back again soon, once I get paid.

I got changed and she escorted me to the treatment room! It was so tranquil and the temperature was comfy cozy! We chatted for a moment about the normal stuff - injuries, stress points, current pain, etc- then she got to work! It. Was. Amazing. When I go back, I'm requesting Sylvie specifically! After the massage, I got a facial. There were many different stages and each one was a surprise- especially the scalp massage at the end! The products used were gentle and smelled great! After the facial, I had the dry flotation treatment. Wtheck is that, right? It was basically like being in a water bed, without the water, and being really warm. I was way relaxed during this and even dozed off for a few minutes! All in all, I had a really great experience. The staff were helpful and calming, the facilities were hyper clean and well decorated. When I wasn't in the spa, I had access to the hotel pool, the relaxation rooms that had massage beds and reading nooks, and helping myself to the lemon water and their magazines. A ginger scented cream was applied all over my thighs from knee to panty line. Then I was rolled into a transparent film and lied down into a pair of huge trousers. Once zipped in, the trousers will actually inflate starting from the feet, deflate and inflate at the ankles, and so on until the waist area. The whole process will start all over again for 45 minutes. The pressure is adaptable depending on what you can handle. 1* For the Rollen machine : This is basically a big roller. You position yourself in different ways to massage the area that needs to be drained. You will start with your feet, calves, thighs inside and out, buttocks, love handles, stomach, arms, and finally your back. Bring a bottle of water with you because this my friend is a proper draining massage of your entire body ! 1* For the immediate effect : Be prepared to use the bathroom. Your system will be undergoing deep cleansing and it will show inside and outside ! Inside, you will notice the need drink water more regularly. This will help flush all the toxins out of your system. Outside, you will see a neater definition of your body and muscles. You can loose up to 2cm in diametre of the areas treated ! I had microdermabrasion before and it can be quite pricey but here you pay 30Euro for the same great results as elsewhere were you pay 75Euro. So that's a no brainer, right? On arrival we were led to the changing room to change into our robes before our treatments but when we walked in two men were working on a light in the corner of the room. The receptionist told us that they would only be a few minutes but the men showed no signs of finishing anytime soon. We waited for a few minutes to see if they would finish up but as we had to get back upstairs for our treatments we just had to get changed in the cubicles provided. In my opinion the men should have been asked to step outside while we were getting changed as not only would this have taken a few minutes but there was a lot of banging, not exactly what you expect when you go to a spa. Also, we were asked to share a locker when the receptionist realised that we were together. Initially we agreed but when we saw how small the lockers were we couldn't actually fit our stuff in so we had to take two. We did think it was an odd request though given the sheer volume of empty lockers available. The treatments we had were lovely. The therapists were really nice and had a little chat before starting the treatments to make sure we got what we wanted. The thermal suites were nice too, with an outdoor jacuzzi, indoor hydrotherapy pool, sauna and heated chairs along with a relaxation room to chill out in. The one thing that struck me about the place though was the amount of background noise...banging in the changing rooms, a lot of people walking around outside the relaxation room and people talking outside the treatment room. This, for me, was the deal-breaker! When I go to a spa I want quiet surroundings and a sense of calm. With these type of places I think it's all about the little extras and this place was definitely lacking those special touches. The place definitely showed signs of needing a little work done here and there too. With so many nice spas in close proximity to Dublin I would be more inclined to go somewhere else before returning here again. I gave it three stars because the treatment was lovely but I did contemplate giving it two because I didn't get that 'spa experience' I was hoping for. It wasn't a bad experience per se but it definitely wasn't good enough for me to return.
