I came here with a RateMyArea Deal and I'm glad I did...I would not have paid 50 euro for the manicure/pedicure that I got (the coupon made it 20 euro). She told me that they did not have the proper table yet so I sat behind a desk which was kind of awkward (but not physically uncomfortable). The scrubs that they used were nice, but I could see her reading the label before using them--not sure if she was trying a new brand or was totally new to this. The nail polish already looks streaky and is chipping a bit (it is 5:30 and I got it done at 1:00). Also, it seems like they were just her nail polish that she had laying around--random brands that had all been partly used and all the same section of colours (red, pink, purple). In the coupon it says that "The Himalayan Pedicure is a step above your regular express pedicure and helps prevent nail problems, removes dead cells, and is topped off with a layer of moisturising cream and a brief foot massage." but I'm not sure what they did to prevent nail problems, remove dead cells, and I didn't get moisturizing cream. However, brief is a very apt description of the foot massage. You can feel the awkwardness between the owner (I assume) and her employee/intern, so I did not feel relaxed either. I use to get massages by Sunita the owner when she worked in Harvest Moon and could not believe my luck when I walked in there last December armed with my voucher. I get a weekly massage , my threading, waxing and facial is done monthly. Himalaya is centrally located, the prices are mighty competitive once you are a regular customer. I went to get a Manicure/Pedicure here today using a coupon and was totally disappointed. Like the previous person there was no proper table to sit at for getting the "maicure". I have nail varnish on my fingers and it had chipped by the time I got home. For the "pedicure" there was an old sofa to sit on. In the middle of the pedicure the manager sent one of the pther girls out to get Burger King. This arrived by the time the girl was getting to do the nail varnish on my toes. She was in abit of a hurry to get to her food and advised me she would not be putting a base coat on my nails as it would take a long time to dry. Off she went then to eat her burger king. The food was eaten by the Manager in the same room as I was sitting, at the table when I'd been given the manicure. Could not wait to get out of there! Very unprofessional! read more

This place is awful. My daughter and I went with low expectations, but just thought a relaxing massage would be nice. The masseuse was not well trained, so the massage was inconsistent at best and at times uncomfortable. The bed cover was a thin layer of tissue paper that ripped immediately, leaving me lying on the same blanket as every other client. The towel I was given as a cover did not feel clean. At the end, I was slopping in oil and she just said 'ok you are done'. I had to ask for something to clean up with, otherwise my clothes would have been soaked in oil. There is an unpleasant odor throughout the spa. They clearly don't care. One star is generous, don't waste your money here. read more

I visited this place yesterday armed with a Groupon voucher for their signature facial. The salon itself is pretty nondescript. I had a guy doing my facial and all I can say is that it was the best facial I have ever had! It's the reason I have given 4 stars. The facial lasted for an hour and included a cold cream, a lotion, and what I believe was tea tree (due to the strong tingling on my skin!) The difference between this Nepalese salon and an Irish salon is that in the former, they don't tell you what they are putting on your face...however, I decided to just close my eyes, lay back and relax. This facial includes lymphatic massage, which I thought would help my blocked sinuses and also decrease the puffiness under my eyes...and it did just that. Towards the end, a face pack and cooling eye pads are applied, and then you are treated to a massage of your arms and hands, plus neck, shoulders and feet...blissful! I left the salon with my skin glowing and baby-soft to the touch. It was also super-clean. How do I know? When I got home, I applied my usual cleanser onto a cotton wool pad and wiped it over my face...and not a trace of dirt could be found! read more

I went in for underarm waxing and eyebrow threading. She managed to draw blood in both my underarms and around my eyebrows. Safe to say I will not be back, despite the little discount she offered me for the threading (I suspect because she knew how bad of a job she did). read more

Awful! I can't imagine paying full price for treatments in a place like that. I had a deal voucher for it. I got a manicure/pedicure with a foot scrub. The place is a little room in a building on Stephen's Green and does not in any way resemble a Himalayan Beauty Retreat like their website says. Everything was filthy - floors, walls, towels and tools. The nail tools were disgusting and had clearly not been washed since the customer before me. Every other place I got a mani/pedi had the tools soaking in disinfectant but nothing here was clean. The foot bath had bits floating around in the water and the towels my hands and feet were sitting on did not look clean at all. As soon as I got home I disinfected my hands and feet. Aside from the filthiness the service was well below par. I don't think the person who did the mani/pedi was qualified to do it all. I could have done a better job myself. She only put one coat of polish on and got it all over my fingers and toes. They don't do shellac and they had about 15 polishes all in the red/pink spectrum and all the clear polishes were stained pinky. The woman who I assume owns the place was chatting away to the girl doing my nails in another language which was very uncomfortable! I would not recommend this place to anybody and I wish I had looked up reviews before getting this deal. This place is a prime example of why there should be legal standards for salons. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before someone winds up with a bad cellulitis or folliculitis from all the dirty tools, water and towels! read more

I went for a full body massage today , and I was firstly in the waiting area with 2 other ladies one of whom said she had bought a groupon voucher for Himalayan last year and has been back ever since paying full price saying it was the best massage around by a long shot and she recommends it to everyone , Intrigued I then went for my massage and I have to say it was amazing! the staff and atmosphere in the place was lovely, and its also a great location! I visited the place today armed with a voucher for facial. First of all, my orginal schedule was yesterday, however, they called me 2 hours before said they put me under a male therapist which I strong claimed that i want a female therapist during the booking. Anyway, appointment rescheduled to today and this is my first visit in this place. Located in st stephen green but decoration is far behind class. I was not offer to choose any facial i want while in the voucher you can choose any one hour facial. During the facial, my therapist was not too good. She touched my face and at the same time my shoulder,my armpit and arm as well. Well, my face has been washed when she started the facial however my other parts of body were not. This is not hygenic at all. This indeed put me off and queries is she qualified? Later on I asked another lady about that (not sure is she owener), she said "normally body cream can put on the face but we actually put face cream around your shoulder. And if you come again next time, tell me in advance what do you want and oh you might not come again because you dont like it !" It does make me speechless. Not the best experience and with the last conversation with the lady, I definitely wont visit again even it is 26 euro on the voucher (original price 60 e?) read more

I had a fantastic massage with a Nepalese woman called Assma a few days ago and it was one of the most wonderful experiences I've had this year. She found all the kinks and knots in my body and worked them out without hurting and that is unusual. Normally I find that when a massage therapist finds muscle knots they dig really deep and I end up sore afterwards. Not this time! I felt so relaxed afterwards that I didn't want to do anything for the rest of the day. Note to self: Go early evening so I don't have to go back to work afterwards. read more

I made an appointment here on a Special offer voucher, to have my eyebrows tinted and threaded, and had opted to pay for my lashes to be tinted also. The salon is on Stephens Green, and I thought it would be quite classy, but far from it. I walked in the door of the salon and was ushered to a chair right inside the door, next to the reception desk. Beside it was a shelf covered with what initially looked like a white tablecloth, but was in fact layers of tissue. However, while cramped it seemed clean and the girl who ushered me in was pleasant, and while my first instinct was to was to leave, I had a party to go to and needed to put some colour on my now almost invisible eyes . I sat down, put my head back and hoped for the best (Crazy I know!) Now I have been dying my own lashes for 20+ years now and know it takes a bit of time, but this girl very quickly brushed colour on my brows, put a tiny bit of what I think was vazeline around my eyes and told me to close my eyes and quickly dabbed colour on my lashes and covered them with tissue. She then wiped off the colour from my brows (with difficulty as no vaseline had been applied on them), removed the colour from my lashes (it was on for all of 5 minutes-and I know that 8-15 minutes is the norm in order to get and maintain a good colour) She then proceeded to thread my brows, at which she was very quick and efficient. However, the most uncomfortable and disconcerting thing was that the girl seemed to have a very bad head cold, which manifested itself in her breathing heavily and constantly through her mouth while she leaned over me, sounding as if she was out of breath having just run up a steep mountain; and while her breath was fresh enough, I found myself taking furtive deep breaths when she turned away, and trying to hold my breath as she worked over me - difficult, and extremely uncomfortable. The result?? well surprisingly I was pleased with the result, even though the colour wasn't as dark as I'd have liked. Would I go back? Though pleased with the result, when I treat myself to a pamper in a salon, I do like the salon to be pretty, modern and even a tiny bit spacious....and the staff to look clean, fresh and not breath openly through their mouth only centimeters from your face. So, no I don't think I would be able to go through this experience again. I am now off to dose myself in vitamin C to try to ward off the cold she obviously had. read more

I visited this place through deal, never again. She used warm water in a domestic basin you buy in shop for around €3 . I placed one foot in it other on damp towel on floor, must have been used by other clients, when she was clipping my nails she left clipping on table. They only had about five different nail varnishes all near same colour. Place not very hygienic. They don't wash hands after pedicure, then manicure. read more

I would never use this salon again. Service was absolutely appalling and staff are extremely rude. I used a living social voucher and they would only honour half of the voucher as I was late. I've been going to Himalayan Beauty for over a year now for threading.. I find them really great! They stay open really late (I normally get a 6.30 or 7pm appointment) and they are literally half the price of other places that do threading. I would definitely recommend for threading, I haven't had any other treatments with them. read more

I have no idea why anyone would recommend this place. I normally don't write reviews but I felt I just had to after my experience. I went to the one in capel street and it's not really set up as a salon. It looks like it's just set up for groupon vouchers, there's no products in site. When I went in there was a man watching football on a laptop. I got a voucher for four treatments however I was told I could only have a facial and a massage. I didn't want a facial as I didn't recognise the three shop bought products she had. I opted for a massage which lasted 45 mins despite the fact my voucher was for 90 mins. The girl was nice it's not her fault but she massaged me with sunflower oil and I smelt like a chip shop! Would definitely not recommend this place! read more

I came here with a deal that I purchased online for an hour long dermalogica facial. It was clear from the very beginning that the person doing the facial had zero training or experience. She only had three products, and spent a lot of time massaging them in (does soap really need to be massaged in to your face for 20 minutes? And then scrubbed for another 15 minutes?). She managed to get each product into my eyes, up my nose and in my mouth. I told her that she got the scrub in my eyes (this tends to happen if you put it on top of someone's eyelashes in an effort to remove mascara) and she simply said 'Don't open your eyes', which I hadn't. This was the worst facial I have ever had. I had to abruptly leave because I was so uncomortable. Even the massage was painful as this woman did not know what she was doing - bending the ears in unnatural postitions, trying to massage your eyeballs through your eyelids, squeezing the eyebrows for unkown reasons.
