After moving to Ireland from Russia, I spent a whole year searching for proper skincare treatment. I had facial issues due to an accident, plus naturally porous skin, so I really needed to bring my face back into balance. Most clinics offered treatments that didn't actually work for my problems - mostly superficial peels and procedures, each costing at least €300 per session, and I was told I'd need at least 5-8 sessions. Very few places are run by real doctors - mostly by people who only completed short beauty courses. Lily is a doctor of Chinese medicine. She uses top-quality Italian and American equipment and offers bold, effective laser therapy solutions. After just a few sessions, we managed to smooth out the scars on my face, and a couple of marks on my nose became much less visible. Now, I go for a maintenance laser session every six months, use one cream, and my skin looks well cared for. I'm 44 years old, and I can confidently recommend Lily to my friends now - don't be afraid to take care of your skin! Laser treatments are an excellent alternative to short-term solutions like Botox and fillers. Ladies - go to Lily without hesitation! I was a little unsure of what to expect but was absolutely delighted with my treatment and have since been back twice! The staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable and make you feel very welcome. I should mention that this place is not your typical "spa". I wouldn't go so much to relax, but more to be given an exceptionally good pedicure that leaves your feet feeling baby soft and perfect! I did not really expected anything besides a nice hour or so, but it was really great. The salon is located in Chapelizod so I was not familiar with the area but it is not very far from Phoenix Park and can be easily reached by the bus 66 from the city centre; if you're driving, there is free parking right in front. I booked beforehand and the service was attentive and polite, followed by a text confirming the booking, date and address with bus/routes tips. Nice touch! Getting there, they are located inside an artificial tanning establishment called "Sun beds". The place is small but it does the job well. There are the usual gossip magazines - which I gladly skip - and some comfy seating while you wait. I saw that they do several promotions, display products for sale and that the environment is relaxed. There were 2 people working; a man and a woman. It seemed a bit unusual but the man was doing feet treatment in several woman and he seemed very professional. After 15 mins wait I was greeted by Gemma. She was very friendly and very well-mannered. As I had arrived a bit earlier she decided to help me then, leaving her break for later; even though I said she did not have to do it and I could wait but she gladly did it, again being very professional. She took me to a corner where they have a massage bed (those with a whole to pop your head through......i'd love one of those for myself!) and a thin blanket. She massaged my feet with nice oils and fragrances and wrapped them in hot mittens and left it heating up for about 20 mins - it was soft and warm. Meanwhile she showed me the colours that were available for the tint process and applied it all very slowly and carefully. I had a full head/scalp massage - which stimulates hair growth - and my brows were trimmed just the way I normally do it - as she was asking if it was okay for me every now and then with the mirror. Also some more essential oils and a lovely mist were sprayed on my face right after the exfoliation. During the whole time I had headphones on with relaxing music to help me chill out. By the time you are thinking "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I want this to last forever" it is over...I was feeling energized and happy. She gave me their price list and 2 cards that I can give to people I refer and they can get a massage/hot mittens/pedicure treatment for 39 euro. Plus she gave me plenty of water advising me to drink more and more at home as the massage tends to make your body really need the 2 litres a day. Lovely experience and I can't recommend it more!

For example, I had a 1.5 hour facial last night, firstly it was so relaxing compared to any other salon type experience and she must have used her whole collection of dermalogica products on my face as well as micodermabrasion, ultrasound and giving you a message while waiting on the serums to sink in. I obviously needed it! But never rushed and that's why I felt I had to leave her a review somewhere as I need to thank her for the years of extra care both myself for facials and my hubby for massage. I had a photoshoot and went there to get my eyebrows shaped. Firstly, I had to buy a mask that gave a big rash around my mouth, then I felt a lot of pain after the work underneath my eyebrows. I thought it was just because my skin was somehow more sensitive than normal but I found out the next day, I had a very bad burn under my eyebrows. I contacted them initially about the issue with the mask, just to alert them and help other customers and I got an email with a long explanation of how it was not caused by them and how other people were not affected. So I thought it was pointless to tell them about the severe burn I had. The pictures are attached. Today is day 5 and it still hurts quite a lot.

After a very long week, I felt the best way to cheer myself up is to go to a Spa. Of course. Who…read moredoesn't :) 1* For the response time : It's Wednesday night and I browsing on my phone, in my bed, for a spa close from where I live and with treatment at a reasonable price. That's when I remember a poster I saw along the Luas line advertising a new Spa in Smithfield. I check on facebook, here they are ! 10.15pm : I decide to enquire about body wraps 10.30pm : I get a response that they do provide this treatment 10.45pm : I have an appointment for Thursday evening at 6pm 11pm : I fall asleep, content 1* For the reception area : As soon as I entered the Spa I felt overwhelmed by peace. The place is quiet and warm. Perfect combination. The beauty therapist is waiting for me to fill in some health related details - compulsory before starting any treatment. They even offer me some water without me asking. 1* For the changing room : The therapist shows me the locker I am going to use and explains what I need to do. The room is not very big but it has a locker with 8 section, for 8 clients at the same time. Each locker has a cosy bathrobe, some biodegradable underwear and slippers. There is also a chair in the room. 1* For the beauty room : When I am ready changing, the therapist shows me the way to the beauty room. The place is new and clear and well presented. The therapist explains the procedure for the treatment and then leaves the room while I slip under the towel on the beauty bed. There are plenty of little lights on the ceiling. I prefer to think of them as stars, that's the romantic me talking. 1* For the treatment : The first part is scrubing. I am on my back. Every limb is scrubbed thoroughly. I really appreciated that the therapist took the time to uncover every part one at a time. She even took special care to hide my chest with a smaller towel so that we could scrub my stomach without reveiling anything else. Then I turned over and again she scrubbed. Once this was done, I was invited to go in the shower area (in the room of course) and rince off all the product. There was a hand towel to help me, a bath towel waiting for me after the shower and an extra pair of underwear. She paid special attention to clean my feet before anything so I would slide on the floor. The rest of the treatment was smooth. I was covered in a very moisturising cream/mask which was applying with a relaxing massage. I was finally wrapped in a warm blanket over the towel. While I was 'cooking' the therapist gave me a scalp massage, which she had asked me permission for earlier in the procedure. Simply amazing. 1* For the timing : 75 minutes of pure heaven. 1* For the overall experience : I am so happy of how it all went. I left definitely relaxed and happy. Elena really helped work out some knots in my back and by coming back, she's built on her work from the previous week which is really great and shows a great level of commitment and attention to their customers... However, a few friends have raved about Essentials so I decided to give them a try last week. Their salon is very clean and the staff are professional. I was promptly greeted, taken to my chair, and asked to pick out a colour. The therapist quickly got to work and spent the next 45 minutes making sure my feet and toes were public ready. Unfortunately, while my toes looked lovely, it felt more like a clinical treatment rather than a spa treatment. The chair was just a chair, no back massagers to be found. And after my cuticles were cleaned up, I received a 45 second massage per foot, and that was it. For €55 I expected more.
