Well, well, well... An authentic Thai massage in the heart of Dublin. This place was a great find although not for the faint hearted or those after a 'pamper me' massage. This place is authentic, a basic bed (yes, it's blanketed/towelled up and the only thing that separates you from the next client is some heavy drapery. There is a few massage options, I went for thai oil massage, having had a thai massage in Thai I had insight so asked for medium pressure and my god, even at medium pressure the masseuses here work you hard. I had the full body massage (€50) and it was immense, every muscle/joint was worked on, she also pinpointed some knots in my back, I did know of them and that's what I started to take up regular massages and boy did she work them... It hurt at the time but man, I felt amazing the following day. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a truly authentic massage, a place where you will really be stretched out and provides more for your overall posture then a feel good pamper. They run offers, with things like bring a friend and get a discount, so instead of €100 for 2 of you, it's €80, etc. So be sure to check out there website. read more

I went for a deep tissue massage here. I give this place 4 stars because of the quality of the massage. The pressure is no joke, the therapist really worked on knots and pain areas. The venue is clean, smells nice, and the huts are private and are away from the noisy street side. However, I take away one star because I found it really weird that they didn't ask me to fill out any forms regarding health, or ask any questions on whether I've been injured before. They assume I will tell them myself, which may or may not be true. In addition, at the end of the massage, the therapist gave me some upsetting tips about my lifestyle which I could have done without, given that I was there to relax. read more

Very solid massage experience in the Temple Bar section of Dublin. We came on a Tuesday so the massages were only 40 euros which was great. The facility is a bit small, and the basement where the bathrooms are located smelled like it had flooded on more than one occasion. With that said, the massage rooms were clean (albeit a tad chilly) and my massage was excellent (my friend said she wanted a bit more pressure). The "rooms* are separated by sheets so it's fairly easy to hear what's going on in the stall directly next to you. Downgraded because we thought we were getting Thai massages; instead we had traditional swedish massages. No complaints here because my masseuse was VERY good, but we would have explored other massage parlors if we knew we were getting traditional massages. You need to experience a massage here! Everything is perfect. Choose any type of massage .. relaxing or have someone walk on your back. The decor is so pretty, bamboos and elephant statues once you go through to the massage area. Deceptively small from the outside. Wednesdays is ladies special day with one hour for 40€! Bring a friend for a discount too. Now.. I've been here a few times but the last time it became apparent that my boobs were also going to be massaged. This was a bit of a weird experience. It was the first Thai massage I've ever received but unlike other massage/holistic centers I've gone to, there were no questions about existing health conditions, or forms to fill out. Make your own minds up about that one. The massage itself was good, and while the place itself is not the most luxurious, it appears clean. The lighting and music in the massage rooms, which have been decorated to look like little bamboo huts, is also nice and calming. The bathrooms in the basement could do with some work, and smelt like they'd been damp for some time, but the owners of the business have done their best to decorate and make it homely as best they can. All in all, a very good solid massage at a good price that left me looser, but if you are looking to be really, really pampered, maybe look elsewhere. read more

I have had massages here before , Its the real deal with an all-Thai staff. I like deep tissue and they can do this for you. The massage I had was very good although it could have been deeper. Its good value too as it is €50 per hour. You do get a card which is stamped with every visit- you get a free massage after the fifth visit which is a nice touch. After being packed onto a couple tight tour busses my body needed a massage and I was excited when my husband pointed out a local place with good reviews that offered Thai massage. After getting a few life changing Thai massages on a cruise last year and only being able to find deep tissue massages locally I was excited to try it. I made my appointment on the phone and showed up to find an empty waiting room with a woman behind the desk that was abrupt and not very helpful when I tried to explain that I had muscle knots and wanted to make sure the Thai massage was like the one I had previously experienced. She basically pointed out the options and told me to pick. Thai massage has stretching and there is deep tissue massage. She asked if I wanted to use the restroom first and I regret saying yes (it was very dirty, the hand towel was very rumpled, wet and looked like it hadn't been washed in quite awhile. The toilet paper roll had something brown on it. I was led back to a small room by my masseuse that was very hot where she proceeded to give me something that was some form of clothing but I couldn't make out what it was the lighting was very poor and I didn't know what to do with it because it my previous Thai massages you were instructed to wear clothing you could easily move in that you wouldn't take off. I asked what to do but my masseuse didn't speak English and had a very hard time communicating it. I kept guessing but she eventually gave up and took the frock away. Through guessing and miming I figured most of the rest of the communication out. It was particularly frustrating when I couldn't communicate simple things like it's really hot in here or more pressure even though I tried several things like harder, more pressure and even just miming it. One of the worst parts though was that my massage therapist must have had really long nails and calluses on her hands because during the parts of the massage that she wasn't stretching me I was SCRATCHED ALLOT all over my back and gouged on my neck and I had no way of politely communicating it. Also I expect stretching in Thai massages like the woman who runs the front said and I definitely got stretching of my legs but basically it was that and one stretch of my chest muscle area at the end and that was it otherwise it was like a scratchy sub-par Swedish massage for the rest of it. The woman who talked about someone walking on her back must have gotten someone else. read more

Its been a long time since I had a massage. So I was walking in Temple bar and came across Baanpai. I decided to give it a shot so i went inside and asked about the different types of massage and ,finally, chose herbal oil massage. Anyway, the place looks fantastic in the inside, the decoration, music, painting and the Bamboo roofs every thing feels like Thailand. It was warm and dark, the music was very relaxing and the staff were friendly. The girl who does the massage asked me if I waned soft, medium or strong message but I went for soft as I haven't been to a massage for ages. She was so good that i have fallen sleep and when she asked me to turn on my back I barely did. They also do a couple massage which you get 20% and ladies day every wednesday. read more

My masseuse found multiple knots on my back and tailored her massage to tackle those knots. Do note that if you are looking for quiet massage place, this might not be ideal for you. The reason I gave it 3 stars was because it says they accept credit card and it wasn't working. So after a wonderful massage you end up having to go out of your way to find an ATM for cash. Not okay. Having been lucky enough to visit South East Asia on a couple of occasions and having the pleasure of travelling throughout Thailand, I became very fond of traditional Thai massage. So I've always been looking for a place in this country that offers authentic Thai massage at a reasonable cost. Baanpai ticks both boxes. At a rate of €50 an hour for a Thai massage I think the cost is very fair. Loyalty cards are also available allowing you to get your sixth massage free. There are lots of different treatment options available with varying costs. Although located in a busy area of Temple bar it is wonderfully tranquil inside. Soft, relaxing music playing throughout, you are greeted with that famous Thai smile. Customer service is terrific, friendly and welcoming. It is surprisingly big inside spread over a couple of levels with lots of different rooms/areas designed to look like little huts, all beautifully decorated to a traditional Thai style. All in all, excellent massage, quality service and a very pleasant way to spend an hour. read more

Clean place. Authentic thai massage. Rooms are warm and designed like wooden "huts". Therapist was friendly and worked out many of my knots and cracks! Usually I have to tell my massage therapists to go deeper... Not here! I let out a "yelp" a couple times (in a good way). You'll be lean and limber after a massage here. Booked in on the day for me and my boyfriend. We both decided in the end to go for the hot oil massage. The staff were very friendly, the rooms were clean. Initially I thought we would be in the same room, however, we got a single room each. The massage lasted a brilliant hour. What I liked most is that the staff weren't chit chatting and let you relax during the treatment. The only negative aspect were the towels that weren't soft and fluffy. read more

They were able to identify some especially problematic areas where a person who sits at a computer for work 8-10 hours a day would have some tension. Was in dublin for a few days.just walking through the temple bar area and came across baan pai.when I went in was welcomed by a smiling thai receptionist who explained the different treatments.i picked the thai herbel massage.the decor inside is lovely its got that reel traditional thai feel with the wall hangings and Buddhas.the rooms are designed in a baan boo theme which I never see before.the massage it self was very good.All in all a very relaxing experience in the heart of dublin city.
