He built an overhang for me, and he did not know what he was doing because he built it all wrong and when I called him out on it He said," I am not redoing it". Communication was great. David showed up on time to measure and quote. Then showed up again on the appointed day and removed the old shelves. custom cut the new ones and installed them. Even cleaned up afterwards. The shelves are beautiful and just whatbi wanted. Years ago I ordered a table from him and he delivered it at no extra cost. I could write a novel about how our project went, but in summary I'm deeply dissatisfied with our outdoor table and benches. Once I paid my deposit, David was extremely flaky, and after much back and forth finally delivered a table forgetting I had ordered and paid for benches too. Those came later, but what I was promised was most certainly not delivered, and I'm paying now (2 years later) out of pocket to rebuild from scratch. The wood used was not dry when sealed and still sapping - I have had it reworked twice already (the first 2 times were at David's expense, but I just learned that he never paid the person he sent out to resand and stain and owes this very nice person $3000 for jobs!). I would never recommend this company and am filing a complaint with BBB. read more

I have ordered a solid wood gate and mantel, paid my deposit of $1343 and months and months later I still did not receive the product I paid for. Then after numerous calls, messages, excuses I finally was presented with the gate, and instead of being made of high quality solid wood we agree on with David, he presented me with a gate made of pallet wood. Despite promising me that he will work on it till it is what we agreed on, numerous delays, excuses and promises it has never been delivered. We agreed on money back, and every week I was supposed to get my money by certain date and never have gotten them back. Facebook messaged 48 Planks a few months back (just now getting around to posting a review) looking for some live edge wood for a desk I wanted to make. I received a response super quick and was told that I could visit the shop later that afternoon. I made the drive and was expecting to spend $100+ for some wood. Was greeted by David, he was super kind and helpful and showed me the wood he had. Picked out a beautiful piece of oak that was recovered from a recent wildfire area for only $50. Had enough leftover to build another desk in the future! Love love love how my desk turned out and so thankful to have not broke the bank!! read more

BUYER WBEWARE: Very disappointed with the service, communication and quality of my "custom" table and benches. David, was very hard to get a hold of, he would not reply until multiple attempts. Then he changed the delivery a date even after giving me a long lead time. At first I was ok with the delay but the stain on the bench did not match the table so he had to come back a different day. The table and benches were also missing the spacers. The table must have been wet when he put it together because a couple months later the table dried, shrunk and warped. I tried contacting David who said he would fix it but once again he would not reply until multiple attempts. ...He still hasn't came by to fix the poor quality table. read more

BUYER BEWARE! am so disappointed with my custom table and bench I ordered from David Beseler Of 48 Planks for our business. David promised delivery by Thanksgiving but did not deliver until Christmas Eve on one of our busiest shopping days. The table was wet when delivered and smelled strongly of stain. A week later I realized all my merchandise was molding by being in contact with the wet table. A few more weeks and the planks shrunk and became separated and uneven!!!The wood he used was not properly cured! I contacted David to complain and he said he would make it right. Never heard from him again until I contacted him at least 6 more times saying I wasn't happy with the quality and wanted a refund. He said he would refund me and kept saying he would give me back my money the next week and the next...and then I never heard from him again...no refund and now I'm stuck with a second rate shoddy table that is uneven and still warping and shrinking. I will NEVER DO business with this company ever again. Very poor quality craftsmanship and customer service. I feel like I've been scammed-big time. I was offered excuse after excuse but the owner never made it right. Sorry for the rant but I want to warn others! read more

Finally got our island top after four cancelled delivery dates. One week after our top was installed the boards had shrunk to where there 1/4" gaps in between them and were starting to cup bad. The owner said he was not sure why it had done that and he would make us new top. It took two more cancelled delivery dates to get the new top, and two weeks later we have the same problem as the first. The new top has shrunk up also, and has 1/4" gaps between the boards. One of our end boards al has a bad warp in it. At this point I am giving up on getting a good top from them and I am going to fix this one myself after I'm sure that is done shrinking. read more

Buyers Beware. I've given one bad review in 15 years, unfortunately, this business has disappointed on all levels. We had a nearly identical experience as 1/7 reviewer. Takes a large deposit up front. No communication, a delay on delivery for three weeks and three delivery dates where promised and then owner, Dave, bailed each time after I had to first contact to confirm the prior day. Excuses everytime. The table had obviously not been built until the of delivery, and the rushed workmanship showed. Delivered to our house still wet and strongly smelling of finish. Had to leave our windows open for 2 weeks before smell dissipated. All of this would have been excusable had we gotten a nice product. But, the table delivered without the stain we asked for. Owner, Dave, knew this and just told us he would come back and stain it (at our house) the next week. But, never called us or followed up at all, not surprisingly. That was a month ago. In addition, jointed poorly with gaps so the table wobbles. The top is uneven, so roughly sanded that I have splinters when I run my hands over it, and uneven large gaps between the top planks. I expected a rustic table but this is basically a poorly constructed picnic table. I would, if I could, use it as a picnic table but, unfortunately, it's pine so I can't even salvage it for that. We bought a table from this company. It was nice. We ordered & paid over $400 for a mirror. It's been over 1 1/2 years and we still don't have our mirror. He has PROMISED me 6 times "it will be done next Tuesday" and 6 times nothing!! He has a 2.5 rating and that's way too high! He has my $400 and I feel like he stole my money. I love to shop local and help local businesses but this is ridiculous and I am beyond angry. I encourage everyone not to shop here. Find another local establishment. read more

Unfortunately the owner is very dishonest and will show you one thing and sale it and then bring you something different. He promised you a time frame and does not show up. I was rescheduled 4 times for install he told me 2 weeks and it was 2 months before I saw him again. Look up other reviews many others have also complained about his business. I should have listened to them but thought he probably just got a bad review due to having a few good ones I used him. Those good ones he probably posted himself. I will promise you you will not be happy with work ethic and honesty. Hes a good BS er he will come timely for your estimate because he wants your money. This was an awesome experience! My family(daughter 13, son 16, wife and myself) built an amazing looking trestle style 9ft dining table. We chose from several designs and spent about 5-6 hours building the table. The wood was cut and our job was to assemble, sand and finish the table. Enough work to provide a good story for years to come while dining on it but nobody was wiped out from it. The table is rustic but beautiful and the cost is much less and the quality way better than anything you could buy...plus we have a fun story! Someone called them Legacy tables-something you can pass down...this is sturdy enough and timeless in style to easily be able to do this. I've posted a photo of our table... read more

Horrible customer service. After a promised date of 3 weeks for a kitchen table and very little communication, we decided to cancel our order after 9 weeks of excuses. You would think that people would have better customer service, especially right now, but some don't! The only thing positive is a reimbursement of money right away, which tells me that the project was never started! read more

If I could give NO stars I would! I was so looking forward to building a legacy table with my husband and daughter, but from the very beginning it was problematic. Terrible communication from the owner- from the day he took half of the amount of table for the deposit ($800), he blew me off and ignored me and it ultimately took me asking for my money back to get him Into gear to get it done. Now, the table has a problem and I've been ignored and blown off AGAIN. Bottom line - terrible customer service and the product is substandard too. I will never give this company my money ever again! Very poor communication and was promised a delivery date by thanksgiving.we placed an order with them 11/9/19. We were told different delivery dates and yet still no table , we would have to contact them when we don't hear back anything and they always made an excuse. I left a comment on Facebook and it was deleted and he called my husband and told him that it takes a while to make it but he kept promising delivery dates like the table was finished. He either haven't done the table or isn't finished so he was coming up with different excuses... I just want my money back , the table is not worth the poor communication or my money! We spent almost $1k on this table and it's ugly and embarrassing. It was delivered (12/20/19) and it was not what we asked for at all. It came bare, we asked for a grey stain and he said he didn't get anything about that. My husband screen shot the message of them 2 and it clearly shows that we told him a color. I'm so upset, he said that he would come back and stain it himself but who knows how long that will be, after just now getting the table I doubt we won't see him anytime soon. Also thought we were getting 2 7ft benches but came with 2ft benches! My husband did contact him to set an appointment to stain the table but no answer and we left voicemail. David Beseler is a skilled craftsman and goes the extra mile to ensure you receive the creation you asked for. I stopped in his shop that has all sorts of wood waiting to be turned into something amazing. I needed a wood mantle for my fireplace. David listened to what I was looking for, he explained the process and I sent him dimensions and photo ideas. David was very responsive to my questions and scheduling. David arrived right on time with a gorgeous mantle (with corbels). He installed it taking extra care to make sure it was installed perfectly. The mantle is made of ponderosa pine he foraged from the King Fire. This beautiful handmade live wood mantle has a story and now a home. I'm so pleased with David's work, his responsiveness to my many questions and the fact that he was able to get it delivered earlier than expected and just in time for the holidays! A friend of mine referred 48 planks to me after they did a huge build in their new home. What I was most impressed with was that David took my vision and made it a reality. I have two dogs and was looking to get a dog crate made that looked more like a piece of furniture and was easy on the eyes when you walk into my home. I was using a metal crate before and esthetically it just didn't work. My dog crate is something everyone comments on because they don't realize what it until my dogs are inside. In addition I added a baby gate, a farm table, a liquor cabinet, and some beautiful custom doors for my husbands home office. I have gotten so many compliments on my pieces and couldn't be happier with the way everything turned out. Patience is a virtue so a build like this takes a little time and also allowing someone to take your vision and make it their own is also something that was a cool experience. I had to relinquish control and trust that David would deliver and he did! There is something to be said about custom built furniture with a story and mine is priceless! I will continue to recommend 48 planks to friends and family and continue to use them for future projects! read more
