I recently visited 400 Degrees Hot Chicken and tried their Nashville hot chicken at the 200 Degrees spicy level. Even though this wasn't the spiciest option, it packed plenty of heat, and I loved it! The spice didn't taste artificial or like capsaicin powder--it came from real peppers and a flavorful spice blend, which made the chicken both spicy and tasty. While the food was great, the service could've been better. Despite ordering online for DoorDash pickup with an estimated 30-minute wait, it took an hour to get my order, and the restaurant wasn't particularly busy at the time. That said, the ambiance was nice, with plenty of seating and a lot of locals, which speaks to the love people have for their hot chicken.

Sllllllooooooow service. We waited a hour for our food. It wasn't packed and it was only 3 of us. I mean , we were very hungry so it wasn't ideal to wait that long but there's nothing else over there and we really wanted hot chicken. They told us a 25 minute wait.. that turned into an hour. I really really wanted the pork chop. I'd been watching it online for a long time before my trip, only to find out after an hour that they DO NOT have the pork chop!! Honestly it looks like they are servicing call in or door dash orders first cause it's like a line of orders just sitting on the counter but NONE of those people are in here. They are waiting to be picked up. That's probably where the pork chop was! The food was not what we hoped for. We ordered the Leg Quarter , they did give us 2, I am thinking that could've been to make up for the pork chop as they gave us a few extra shrimp too. The leg quarter was soooo greasy and tasted like burned grease to us. None of us liked it! It was greease all up in the chicken. Now I love me some crispy chicken so I'm happy for all the skin but oooh baby no to the taste of burned grease The shrimp was inconsistent in size. Some of them were really big and others regular size. Not really an issue just an observation. I did like the shrimp but my friends didn't . However i liked them. Tasted very different from the chicken. Total was $59 They do have a place where you can take pictures. It's setup with a ring light and all. We certainly took advantage of it. Now they are pleasant! Very pleasant. Even when I complained about the timing they were still nice about it.

Stopped in based upon reviews as we were passing through. It seems to be a locals place. Order at the counter from a very friendly, informative lady. The wait was 45-60 minutes, we were told the cook was running about an hour behind. The locals coming in didn't seem surprised by the wait time. There were many call ahead orders coming out. They do have a sign that says freshly prepared, please be patient. Everything is A La Carte My husband ordered a 200° breast quarter. It was good but a bit wetter than he cares for. Said the spice was good. We got baked beans, they were a little on the sweet side, potato salad, decent and fries, hot and fresh though a bit more cooked than I cared for but just how my husband likes them. Overall we thought it was ok but not just wow factor.

I've now been to eighty-seven Nashville Hot Chicken places in my home of Southern California and eight in Nashville, when I went during the first week of April. The best hot chicken I have eaten in America, so far, is in Nashville, of course, but it's not at the two places where you think it might be - "Prince's" and "Hattie B's" - although both of them are definitely amazing. The best Hot Chicken in North America is at family-owned 400 Degrees. 400 Degrees is just outside of Nashville, in a non-descript parking lot next to an auto supply shop. It is the best hot chicken I have tasted, out of all of the ninety-five places I've been. Once you bite into it, you're not "you" anymore. You become a new being that never existed in the moments before you tried it. It's every superlative I can think of. The breading, which is a meal in itself, is like a rainbow in breading form. Deep flavor (spicy and sweet) that your taste buds never knew existed. Combination of dry rub and wet rub is outstanding and, as at Prince's, it soaks all the way through the bread, forming a new baked good that shouldn't be allowed to exist but it does. The breading is a meal in itself. You almost thought I was going to forget to talk about the chicken: perfect. Moist, flavorful, excellent. Tenders are exactly the right size. The regular hot level is called "200 Degrees." It's the one I got and it was perfect. ("400 Degrees" is extra hot, but I don't think I could have gone any hotter.) Excellent homemade baked beans, with the perfect amount of sweetness. They also offer Nashville Hot Pork Chops and Nashville Hot Shrimp. Next time. A++++++++++++++++ for 400 Degrees. (I wish there was one here in Los Angeles!) I will return.

The food was very good and fresh. First time trying hot catfish it was very good with the 100 degrees heat level and comes with mustard, pickles and on onions. On top of white bread. Not too spicy but just enough and was seasoned very well. The 200 degrees flavor is a big jump in heat from the 100 degrees. But was still very good on the chicken tenders. The service was very good and quick. The inside of the restaurant was very clean also. Definitely will be back when I visit Nashville again.

The catfish was great! The chicken was good too, but I preferred the catfish. The staff was very friendly and helpful!

I have been hearing about 400 Degrees for awhile and decided to head there for lunch. 400 Degrees is located on the northern part of Nashville, so it was a bit of a drive and as I pulled in I guess the kindest description would be that its ambiance is nondescript and unassuming. OK, it is nothing fancy, but there is nothing wrong with that. My introduction to hot chicken was at the old Prince's location and that location brought nondescript and unassuming to a new level. The people working here are friendly and warmly welcomed me and took my order. Hot chicken is made to order, so it will take a bit to get to you, but hot chicken is more than worth the wait. I am more than slightly obsessed with this culinary godsend. I must say that I was intrigued by their hot porkchop and hot shrimp, but I wanted to start this on a level playing field and try a hot chicken breast, prepared their hottest. As much as I would love to say that it was life altering (much like when I first stumbled upon Prince's about seventeen years ago), I found this to be rather run of the mill. I have had worse, but I certainly had better. The potato salad i had was pretty good, but again, i ha e had better. I will give here another try, this time with the hotter off the menu heat level and I will try the pork chop. I hope that perhaps I caught them at an off time, like I said, they were such nice people.

The chicken is decent but not amazing and definitely not worth how long we waited. I went in and ordered strips and a breast at 100 degrees and it took 45 minutes. The lady that took my order was friendly. I chose to wait in my car, as the inside had an odd smell to me. 100 degrees was just enough. It was mild but definitely had a kick. I did feel like the chicken was lacking overall flavor and really just had spice. The place appeared clean and well taken care of.

I want to start by saying I hope they were just having an off day because I was looking forward to trying this place out. On arriving we drove past it and had to turn around because it's in a small stand alone building. Parking is very limited so we parked next door in a grave area that we saw other cars in. We loved the murals outside, especially the wing wall that we HAD to get a picture in front of. When we walked in there was no one inside, we went and ordered. They prompted us that it would be around 30 minutes, which we were completely fine with. I ordered the cauliflower (which is why we went because they had a veg head option for me) and Ryan ordered the leg. A bunch of people came in for pick up orders. Two groups came in after us, one being a couple who ordered the same thing, and another who sat down. Around 30 mins the couple who came in after us got their food, around 8 minutes later the next group got their food. Finally at 45 minutes, we got our food. Now let me tell you I'm not giving this rating because of the fact that two groups got the food before us, it was the fact that unfortunately I had just felt that the food was not worth it. The seasoning on the breading was great, but underneath the breading and the hotness it was bland. I'd recommend ordering the 200 if you like spice because even our noses were running from that. I'll be 100% would I tell people to try this place? Yes, but would I go back? Probably not. It just did not live up to the expectations we set beforehand.

It's my last night in Nashville so I want to go to a bang zoom restaurant. A few of my co workers have said to me: Mr Bill, we see every night you're going out to some amazing spots. Mind if we tag along? Sure, the rules are to keep your fork outta my plate when we sit down. Deal? The restaurant is very large, we're shown to our table. Set in the middle of the dining room and facing the bar. The bar can seat at least 25 people, the restaurant is set up for fun. To get our party started, I ordered a well crafted cocktail: Tea'd Up Old Fashioned Made with Bourbon, Black Tea and House Barrel Aged Bitters. Funky?? Oh yeah I'm with a bunch of Military Veterans and they're telling me their crazy stories. I'm sippin' my Old Fashioned and taking it all in, we need to bond over drinks and crazy things we all drank overseas. As an adult, I can appreciate my Nashville TN Old Fashioned with Black Tea. While we're talking, our waitress drops off a plate of homemade biscuits. The biscuits are fire! Buttery, flakey and moist, The Southern Steak & Oyster can make a damn good biscuit. Next, my Gumbo comes to me. The first taste I can tell this is. chef'd up dish. Better than anything I had in New Orleans. This gumbo is filled with Andouille, Crawfish, Shrimp and Fried Okra. Very flavorful indeed. My last entree in Nashville will be Fish 'N Grits. Fresh fish topped with Spicy Tasso Ham over Sweet Potato Grits and Bacon Braised Cabbage. This is a flavorful dish, the grits are very creamy and the cook on the fish was spot on. We had a great night at The Southern Steak & Oyster, it was a pleasure to dine at your restaurant.

On one visit with only a few of us there our bartender disappeared for a good 20 minutes. Upon his return he was focused on everything but the 5 of us in the place until we finally had to ask to get service. The other visit everyone helped me but the actual server. Maybe this is a staffing problem, I don't know but being stuck for 20 minutes to order another drink with my meal is not acceptable. Although they had that check in my hand in under a minute and in under another minute to process. Again, super nicer people, but kind of oblivious. 2) Now let's talk about the kitchen. And I'm adding some input from the other diners because we all sat there waiting. - flavors are great, but the salt and spice level is overboard. I had the mushroom appetizer and nearly choked/coughed to death. I like heat but this was raw spice that overpowered the dish. And the salt about made my feet swell into balloons. Such a shame because the idea is great just poor execution - deviled eggs. Pass - BBQ Shrimp, sort of like the mushrooms right profile but overpowering - gumbo. Two other people had the gumbo and when I asked they said that too is just over spiced I want to like this place, but probably my last visit unless I just come for oysters. Sorry

This place was a wonderful little experience. We were greeted with the sign outside, "Enter as Strangers and Leave as Friends," which is one of my life philosophies. We got there right at opening, so we got seated first along with one of their years-long regulars. A friendly local lady who provided us with pleasant conversation until the next patrons arrived, who were seated right next to us at the same table, family style. Then the next people, then the next. Sitting, talking, passing the food around the table. It was a nice experience. And the ambiance was nice, too. Plain, wooden chairs, white tile flooring, vintage holiday decor, it was like being in a grandma's house. Very comforting. The food came out one or two dishes at a time. Everything was good enough, but it also was apparent that it was mass produced in a catering style. The basics like the bacon and ham were very good, but the fried chicken, I wouldn't take a big piece, save your stomach room for other things. Whatever other things you grab, make sure you grab a biscuit and get ahold of their homemade peach preserves. That stuff was 10/10 excellent. It's so good, they jar it and sell it at the front desk. I totally recommend. Overall, breakfast is one of the most important meal of the day, so if you find yourself in Nashville, I would implore you to come and check out this city staple of over 30 years now.

The small signage made it a little difficult to find inside the Marriott (see pictures), but from the moment we walked in, heard the live piano player and saw the dining area - we knew this would be a great experience. We started off by sharing orders of Lobster Bisque (see picture) and Burrata with Toast (see pictures). We really enjoyed both of them - the Lobster Bisque was so creamy and smooth and the Burrata was cool, fresh and clean. They were a great combination to start our dinner experience and I would recommend both of them. Since it was a Friday during lent, my wife opted for the BBQ Shrimp Pasta (see picture) and I went with the Daily Fish Special on Blue Corn Grits (see picture). As we always do when we go out, we shared our plates and really enjoyed both of them. The BBQ Shrimp Pasta was rich, buttery and smooth and the Fish Special was a tasty white, flaky and blackened fish served on a bed of rich, creamy blue corn grits. Here again, both are highly recommended. While it is one of your more expensive area stops for dinner, you will appreciate the food quality and presentation at Gannons Nashville for your next special occasion. That…read morediscomfort can come in a variety of shapes and if it occurs in Nashville, it's likely to be in the form of ordering hot chicken at an overwhelmingly crazy spice level without fully comprehending what just happened. And what better place to experience such a moment than Hattie B's, a local family fun institution. Started in 2012 by a father and son duo, this is the original location of the establishment despite many other outposts now present through the southern US. Now, back to the spice level. Beyond the standard selections, there are extreme variants like Damn Hot! and Shut the Cluck Up! That's where things get really interesting, because survival instincts always get tested when things are not standard. Those levels are not for the faint of heart. The hot chicken here is legitimately phenomenal regardless of level chosen and the tenders are the most famous cut. The pimento Mac and cheese and the bacon grits are not to be missed as sides. Maybe, just maybe, what separates Hattie B's is the mom and pop feeling of the establishment despite becoming ridiculously popular with tourists. The people taking orders are so nice and enjoy a conversation despite the massive line. All around, Hattie B's hits the spot.

Once at the counter, it was fast and easy to place orders, customized to your preference, and then pay and find a seat. We chose to sit out on the covered deck that was sealed up to avoid the elements. It did rain lightly while we ate, so it was nice to be protected and cozy while still enjoying the outdoors. Food was brought to the table and we all agreed the chicken and various sides were delicious. Everything was seasoned well, and hot items were hot and cold items were cold. Counter staff and food runners were all friendly and efficient. Noise level was mild to moderate and temperature was doable after the rain shower. Will be glad to return when visiting Nashville again to repeat order the chicken and also try new menu side items.
