I get a phone call saying my dog has a small cut on her head and that everything's fine. I go pick her up and find a large laceration on her head and once I got home I found a puncture wound on her side that my vet confirmed went down to the muscle tissue. The Dogtopia manager told me that she did not clean the wounds she used a non-antibacterial non-scented baby wipe and applied ointment. This is going to trap bacteria in and a wound this deep can easily get infected especially in an environment with lots of dogs. Their staff "doesn't know what happened". They will not share any of the surveillance footage. They only offered to pay the vet bill once I threatened to take legal action if they didn't. I have worked at dog daycare's prior and we had never sent a dog home with injuries like that and no idea how they happened and no explanation. They tried to tell me that she hit her head at first and it was a small cut and upon inspecting her it is a large laceration all the way through the skin and I discovered the puncture wound because she was licking it once she got home and that goes down to the muscle. It blows my mind that they downplay it so much and will not share their surveillance video. They are clearly not watching them/keeping rooms under control. I would never feel comfortable allowing them to watch my dog ever again, they are not taking safety as a priority. If you're understaffed you need to stop taking in dogs at a certain point so that staff members can actually maintain a supervised and controlled environment. My vet said either staples or stitches so I went with staples because they are a little over $300 versus $900 for stitches. It took me threatening my legal team reaching out to them for them to even refund the cost of a half-day charge when she was there for two hours before I picked her up because of injury. I had to push even more to get them to pay the vet bill eventually. The only reason I had my dog there is because I was hit by an SUV and was physically unable to take my dog to burn energy as she is just over one year old. So now not only am I trying to heal my broken wrist and fractured knee, but I am also tending to the staples on her head and her ribs, antibiotics, pain medication, and anxiety medication. My dog is so playful and sweet, absolutely loves people and absolutely loves other dogs. It's going to absolutely crush me if I see her confidence or friendliness extinguished in any way from this experience. Update in regards to their reply: they have my email address have not sent me any solid explanation as to what happened still. I have so many doctors appointments, phone calls with my lawyer, and I am trying to rest ice and elevate myself and now take care of my dog on top of all that. I don't have the time to sit on the phone with you while you tell me that you don't have an explanation, in different words nine times over. Reply to my email when you figure it out and if you can't figure out what happened, shame on you. You shouldn't be running a dog care business.

When I asked the groomer why it looks so bad she said "I brushed him for 20 mins". I will NEVER bring my dogs back, will NEVER buy from their store again and plan on letting everyone know about this. Last time I called in with my monthly order the person on the phone said "I'm new, I don't know how to do that. You can order it from the website." Which was annoying for one. Then I explained I actually could not order this product online, hence why I called in the special order. The employee stated the manager was in a meeting, but they would call me after to address this. Never got a call back. Called in again the next day and was able to place my order. Of course it's been over 3 weeks and I have not received the product. Last time this happened, it was because they stocked the product on the shelves and forgot to hold a case for me. Sometimes when I order a case of product, they stock it to the floor and only hold ONE of the product I ordered in bulk. I really want to support this business instead of places like Petsmart or Chewy, but my pet requires speciality food for health reasons and this customer service puts my cat's health at risk when I have to supplement different foods bc they can't get their employees on the same page with special orders. Everybody is really nice most of the time, but I'm bringing my business elsewhere.

If they don't have what you want you can ask if they can get some with the next order. All the profits of the store are put into the Parrot Rescue Services that are part of the same building. They do adopt out birds and they take the time to make sure that the match between bird and new owner is a good fit to minimize any returns. The birds are the first priority. They are not just trying to cycle them through for adoption fees. They truly care about each and every bird in the rescue and want them to get a great home. It is worth a look there if you are interested in a bird, you will know exactly what you are getting before you bring your new companion bird home. Sabra and her staff of volunteers are great people that want to help birds and their owners. You cannot go wrong with this store and knowing the profits are going to help unwanted birds to be healthy and safe until they find a good lifelong home is so much better than supporting a for profit pet store!

The store itself was smaller but clean and had lots of product! First thing I noticed was it was a little chaotic, understandable for a nail trim special event, although no staff ever called out where to check in and where to check out or where to get in line for the trims. There was one groomer who was very very sweet, even stepping out of the grooming room to trim nails for a shy dog while their owner held them, they must be a regular because I overheard the owner say "see you next month again". Our little Bruce went in first and I anticipated screaming but he was really screaming. Thank goodness for the windows into the grooming room because I saw him thrashing around and immediately went over asked to step in after hearing the groomer (different one than mentioned prior) raising her voice pretty loud at my dog a few times and saying things like "stop it", "that's enough", etc. I also saw her put some powder on his toenail but she never mentioned during or after the trim if she trimmed to short or what. Once I was holding him, it went much smoother but I didn't her tone of voice with him or the limited info on the powder. My other big, shy dog was hesitant to go in but I was able to encourage him in and he did fine. He actually seemed to be doing pretty good at first, I had asked for the filing on his if he tolerated it. Although when I had stepped in to hold our small dog, Bart (our big dog) FELL OFF THE TABLE, hanging briefly by the neck holder thing! The girl doing Bruce ran over to help lift him up and he was just fine but startled. Both of their nails are pretty good, 8.5/10. I do understand the chaos of this event and a full room or barking, whining dogs. I can imagine it's not the groomers favorite day or event. I understand some level of annoyance but also expect good service at the same time. It was not bad at all, it was alright and we were able to grab a couple bones on the way out which the boys will enjoy. Not 100% sure we will come back for the nail trim as we can do it at home but need to hold them like babies and it's not ideal but we will see. This might be better for those doggies who don't really mind nail trims and you're not confident in doing them yourself.

Wow, what a wonderful shelter!!!…read more Rather than being in sad cages, all the cats are in rooms - some with other cats if they get along or need some socialization (and some alone if they are divas!) The rooms are all SUPER clean with lots of beds, perches, toys, litterboxes, etc. and the cats all looked very well cared for. They all got turns to come out of the rooms and explore the hallways for a while. The staff were great and very friendly. They knew a lot about the cats and who might be a good fit for the adopter - making sure that every kitty goes to a home that will let them thrive the most. If you are looking for a cat this is 100% a shelter you need to visit. You have to make an appointment but you will most likely have the place to yourself to get to know the cats. Well worth the extra bit of effort (we had recently gone to an adoption event at another shelter and it was so busy and most of the cats were off in "visiting rooms" so you couldn't meet them very well.

Rather than keeping the cats in kennels or cages, the cats can free roam within rooms that are specific to their personality type or medical conditions. There's a big main room for the social cats and kittens, another room for cats that are shy, a third room for cats with dietary restrictions/food sensitivities, and a fourth for kitties who are FeLV positive. The rooms have windows and beds and space for them to move around, which is so nice to see! This is a nonprofit no-kill shelter in a fairly small town so because they are volunteer based, they don't have long daily visiting hours. However you can rest assured that the cats get plenty of socialization and attention. These are very happy, very loved cats :) Staff here are also very active on social media so check out the Caring For Cats Facebook page to see all of the cats and their stories, to donate, or to participate in their fundraising events! If you're in the market for a fluffy new best friend, please consider making the trip CFC!

Not only is this store located in a very pretty and interesting building, it was very bright, open and full of fully landscaped aquariums with plants & fish everywhere. As soon as me and my friends walked in we were approached by an employee immediately. My friends went to look around and I asked a few questions. The employee gave me a lot of good answers as well as recommendations and items that might interest me in the store. The store is extremely well stocked, with items I've only been able to find online before. Me and my friends had a ton of fun looking at the tanks around the store and I good some great inspiration looking around. I got a few items including a snail trap (another item I've only seen online!) and the cashier was super friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the shop. I love this place!…read more You know how your kid bugs you for a fish tank and promises to take care of it only to lose interest as soon as the first pair of guppies dies? Well, that was me over 50 years ago except I never lost interest. I've been keeping fish and visiting fish stores around the country for my entire life. The people from World Of Fish who started RiverShore Aquariums have done a great job. Located not far from the original World of Fish, RiverShore has clean tanks, friendly and knowledgeable staff and they are super keyed in on planted tank setups. These days my tanks are relatively simple just to keep things easy, rocks and driftwood mostly, but I've been wanting to do a planted tank for a while. I know the basics but had some questions on substrate, plant selection and lighting for what is basically going to be a freshwater nanotank. The staff person who helped me was super knowledgeable, answered my questions and gave me some good advice for getting started. They had a good selection of different kinds of gravel as well as an assortment of driftwood and rocks. I liked that they have a table where you can do a little aquascaping trial and error before you make a final selection. The fish were high quality and appeared healthy. Most were smaller species suitable for planted tanks. I even discovered a new species that I had never heard of - anchor catfish. Super cool and perfect for my little nanotank. I know enough about fish and have been to enough fish stores to know which ones are really good. Rivershore is at the top of the list if you live in the Twin Cities, and especially if you're interested in giving planted tanks a try. Even if its plants aren't your thing or you are new to the hobby, I'd checkout Rivershore for your first aquarium.
