I have a rescue pitador who's 11 months old. Really high energy and is definitely a puppy. Additionally, he's had a traumatic incident with his front left paw. The toenail is completely gone. And when you touch his paws, he immediately tries to bite in your direction. We have taken him to other places who claimed they had to muzzle him while three large adults held him down and still could not trim his toenails. I called 4 paws spa and spoke with Robin. She gave me some training advice and desensitization ideas to help my puppy overcome his experience. I brought my puppy into their shop and he was so happy to see the staff. He seemed nervous at first, but loved all the attention from the staff. Robin was able to cut his nails (unmuzzled and allowed me to hold him) and advised a treatment plan to keep his nails trimmed to the proper length. All of this for $12.00! The agility class with Amanda Fuller was an absolute joke. I stopped taking my dog halfway through the sessions when I was told by one of her colleagues that my dog and I don't "have a connection" and they provided a disproportionate amount of assistance to other dogs and not mine. Very disappointing and a huge waste of $200. I was even asked to move my training session to a complete different month due to their incompetency and inability to handle my dog and two other dogs who were extremely reactive- yet my dog is the one who was ostracized. Save your money and join a dog sports club. read more

I love that we can wash our dog ourselves and not need to worry about clean up and materials. However, I have never seen a place change their working hours as much as 4Paws. Its like every few times we show up and they are closed. Very frustrating. read more

You can find a cheaper self-service dog wash; PetValu in particular is $5 less than 4 Paws, but you won't find a better one. I've been bringing my mutt here since the day I brought her home from the shelter over four years ago. They know Georgia well and they treat her like the spoiled brat that she is. They deal with her being blind and how she's become a bit more cranky as she's gotten older, and they deal with her absolute hatred of having her nails clipped. They treat her kindly and gently and she likes the girls and ladies that work here. I read the one negative review by Dead J., and while I will not attempt to call him a liar or claim that he never experienced the treatment that he wrote about in his review I can honestly state that I have never received or witnessed any other customer receive service like he says that he experienced. To me the kindness and great treatment that my dog and I receive here is more than worth the extra five bucks that I'd save by going to PetValu. Corporate stores have such high turnover that you rarely ever see the same employees from month to month; 4 Paws is a small business that has retained employees for years. 4 Paws has self-service bathing and full service grooming, though I highly recommend that you call a week or so in advance to schedule full-service grooming as they are a pretty busy place, especially around holidays. They also have a supply of dog treats, toys, collars, and leashes at reasonable prices. The only complaint that I could have about 4 Paws is that I would like there to be more than only two towels in each self-service bath; however, they will supply you with more towels upon request. I wholeheartedly recommend 4 Paws Spa. Take your pooch there and give them a shot. read more

Checked website and called to verify were open today (July 4th). Nothing out of the ordinary indicated, no holiday hours on website, regular voicemail indicating they were busy when called. Packed up the kids and our 13 year old dog in the car and drove up from Joppatowne area to find them closed. Uncool. I did my due diligence, and they didn't. I have been to 4 Paws several times. Today I was interrupted by the "manager" and reprimanded for clipping my dog prior to his bath even though I had permission and walked in with 2 large clipper boxes!! She had a terrible attitude and I packed up and left with a partially shaved dog !! Then She came to the counter and charged me 5 dollars!! There were countless ways this could have been handled but attitude and saying "I am the manager and the owners daughter" like a child was not one of them. The lady at the counter kept apologizing to me and was so uncomfortable because she knew the so called manager was dead wrong and unprofessional. Also while I was there I could hear angry screaming at dogs in the grooming area- probably the same awful angry person. read more

The way these people treat customers is atrocious. I walked in for the first time and was greeted by rude looks, it took several minutes for anyone to acknowledge me, and through the entire process the rudeness continued. I felt as if they were angry at me for wanting to get my dogs groomed there, very unwelcoming. And they don't do a better or worse job than any other place around here, so I'll go somewhere where I'm treated like a human being. They need a lesson in customer service. read more

I took my coton to be groomed for the first time. I told the groomer that she had a few knots in her undercoat from not being brushed everyday while we were on vacation, but that I didn't want her shaved, just cut short. After a couple of hours, I went to pick her up and she was completely shaved and unrecognizable. Cotons are long haired dogs that are super soft, like cotton. A part of her front leg was so completely shaved that I could see skin and her nails were clipped so short, it looked like they bled. I'm not sure if she's the only incompetent groomer in this place but I wouldn't take the chance of taking your dog here. read more

4 Paws is a great place to train for dog performance sports like agility and obedience. They keep the venue clean and they are very organized. The grooming and spa area is immaculate and never smells doggy. It's a real treat to live close enough to train there regularly. The only cons are that the training venue is smaller than AKC regulation and it's hot in summer. read more
