We wanted some toast with our breakfast, didn't see it on the menu but they had it. She also said they could do a classic breakfast that wasn't on the menu. Good to know! We had the breakfast bowl, and a strawberry smoothie. Breakfast bowl was not a large portion, but was sufficient. Smoothie tasted. Great. Men's restroom was somewhat clean, urinal was out of order. We would visit here again.

Crowded but we parked right up front, got on the list and eased out to wait in the comfort of our car. App updates ran accurate and we were seated in a perfect location. Our server JT (according to the ticket) was super cool and put us at ease as first timers and offered some great suggestions. I had the cathead chicken biscuit, well half but the second half went down later at home. We split the coffee cake and Mrs scooped up a Creole omelette. Food was everything it could be and more. Oh, I almost forgot the added blueberry jam I put on the coffee cake, and after the ride home the cake soaked up the blueberry jam liquid, OMG let's just say that's how it should be served. All in all a great experience piloted by our capable server and guaranteed with nice size portions of really good food. This is on the rotation now.

We were floored by the robust flavor of each of the homemade gravies. They have a tomato gravy, a sausage gravy, and a redeye gravy. The texture of the gravy was not too thick and none of them were greasy. We each ate a plate of homemade biscuits and in-house made gravy. Although the biscuits and gravy seem like a small serving, the dish is really an adequate meal. Overall, the flavor of the food and the friendliness of the staff solidified our making this restaurant our breakfast place when we visit Mobile.

The service can be a bit unpredictable, and the coffee isn't very flavorful, but that doesn't stop me from loving it, mainly because of the Breakfast Brisket Scramble. It's full of flavor, really filling, and the kind of meal you end up craving days later. No restaurant is perfect, but The Toasted Yolk nails the important stuff: the food. If you're grabbing breakfast or brunch, do yourself a favor and order the Breakfast Brisket Scramble. It totally makes up for the little flaws elsewhere.

Stayed anyway because server and hostess were good and atmosphere was cute. I ordered a Power Bowl called the Garden Breakfast Bowl (I knew my mom ordering traditional breakfast for me to sneak bites from). I was hoping for healthy crunch and boost to my day. The vinaigrette was too much for the fresh veggies, bulgar wheat and quinoa. I'm not sure what you would put on that power bowl but that dressing was not it. It had too much of it as well. The veggies and avocado were fresh and ratio of other fillers was good. I wouldn't get it again though. Like I said I took some bites of my mom's traditional breakfast. Eggs cooked correctly, bacon was too, Belgian waffle was very good- fluffy and sweet. Pancake was basic. Overall, the whole experience was basic honestly. I wouldn't turn down if invited there but not going back on my own.
