We had a really great time here and loved listening to the live music that they have some evenings. I really like that you can post up and stay for a couple of hours playing games and enjoying some cold beverages. I enjoy the Spring Branch kombucha, but I did not like the Simple Batch Blackberry seltzer. I'm not a beer drinker, but their Kolsch is pretty good if you're looking for something light and you don't normally like beer. read more

I definitely recommend this location of 4 by 4! We spent the day checking out Springfield local breweries and this spot was by far my favorite! I love a good IPA and they accomplished that. If you are looking for an amazing experience, look no further! I rewarded myself after a run at the local park with a beer flight. 1/2 price on Mondays! I asked for suggestions and told them my preferences. The bartenders created my flight for me and it was just what I wanted! Very relaxed and chill atmosphere. Also tried their new "Smart Bistro" vending machine and holy crap!! So good. I love bao bao buns and these were quite good. Great vibe, nice setup, bad tasting beer. They have no classic beers, too many flavors with goofy twists and none are very good. I think they should focus on the basics and then start to experiment. While I was only in Springfield for a short time, I made every effort to visit each brewery. I could have passed on 4 by 4 Brewing because it was a little bit outside of downtown. However, this is not one to be missed. When I arrived, I noticed that they had eight beers available, along with four blends which offered up some variety by combining their brews to produce a more distinct flavor. Like always I started off with a flight, which consisted of four 4oz pours. It was difficult picking a single beer as my favorite. However, I will say that my top three had to be the Salesman's Wit, Parkside Pineapple IPA, and the Pom Pom (Pomegranate Blond Ale). As far as the blends go, I enjoyed the Salesman In the Park, which was a blend of the Salesman's Wit and the Parkside Pineapple IPA. It was well balanced and a great tasting beer. In addition to beer 4x4 also has board games and popcorn available which will help make a night out with friends even more fun. Food is not served here, but you are welcome to bring in food or order in. It was also a pleasure to talk with the owner, Derek. You can tell that he is passionate about beer and loves what he does. I can say that I will be back to 4x4 the next time I am in Springfield, even if I have to make a weekend beer trip. read more

I was in town 4 years ago for cardinal baseball game, I heard about this place, came in and check the place out, I had sticker from limitless brewery with me, talk to a brewer and he gave me a tour and I put the sticker on their wall, plus I heard dog friendly too, this place is tuck away ,staff and customer are super friendly too, I have meet several people from KC area, they have a food truck next to them which is really good, the pitch has a place in town too, this company does lot for Springfield and the community too, just meet a upcoming brewery in Jefferson City Missouri, started in March, you meet lots of people here,lady my lab enjoy this place and people luv her and took pix of her too, a new place is opening end of the year and they will have to location, there nice park close by for the children's to enjoy, 4 by 4 also have mix beers with Kombucha too, they also sell Saint Fox Rose cider too read more

We love this place! It's close to our house and the beers are excellent. They have a kick ass indoor space for adults including ping pong, corn hole and board games. There is free popcorn and even a pizza food truck outside!! You couldn't ask for anything more. read more

After looking for this place a few times we found it tucked behind some other buildings up a steep driveway. Upon entering the business makes me think I'm in another city. Their decor and they way things are set up reminds me of a bigger city brewery. The business has an extremely modern feel, and the attention to detail is everywhere. 4 by 4 really swung for the fences and are taking all the chances with their brews. When you taste most craft beers from companies they have similarities that all their beer share; this is called "playing it safe." This lets CO's brew different styles without diverting too far from their original base recipes. 4 by 4 does the exact opposite of this! Their beers rang from a light Pilsner to a extra hoppy IPA even a couple Belgians make an appearance, with an Ambery red ;) Their flagships have absolutely nothing in common; each having their own notes and signatures. In fact the only similarities these beers share is an extremely clean finish, yes even the IPA! Do you enjoy coffee, but hate how they always seem to blend them in stouts? Well you're in luck since they pair it with a pilsner, and that's just one of the unique combo blends they offer. This brew Co is also family friendly, and offers a few drinks for the kids while you enjoy a craft brew. Although I did recently find out they don't "brew" flavors with their beer, such as the pineapple; they just add juice to the beer afterwards. We have been here several times and never disappointed. We took our oldest to celebrate part of her birthday and had a great time. Love the fact they offer FREE popcorn to go along with the libations that are served. We also like the fact we can bring in food or picnic basket with food to munch on while enjoying the good craft beer. I know this summer will be lots of fun and they will really be busy! We plan on walking the Greenway when it gets warmer and then heading up the hill to 4x4 Brewery. It is also nice they have a beer for everyone's tastes. Glad this place is on this side of town, too!!! Keep up the good brews and we will be back often to see y'all!!! The only Con about this place would be seating accommodations. I don't think they realized how well this would take off. I am sure as the weather becomes better, the busier they will become and seating will be an issue. Springfield is home to another brewery! 4x4 has quickly moved to the top of our list. We visit a bunch of breweries on our travels and while most of them have a couple beers we like, all of 4x4's beers are awesome! They have popcorn to snack on and a couple of the nearby restaurants will deliver food to the brewery. Do yourself a favor and stop in for a pint or two. read more

There are many breweries popping up around Springfield. This one is in the Sequoita neighborhood. They have a nice selection and reasonable flights. One thing they do that is unique is that they have their normal taps but also have blended taps. This takes what they already have to give new experiences within that. The staff is friendly. They have side room now which helps so it isn't as crowded in the main room. That room has table tennis and other games available. To me the signature beer there is Java the Kolsch. It really is awesome. Overall, this is a great brewery and one of the few the south side of town. read more

Small, but an awesome place! Good view of big screen TVs to watch games. Some of the best beer in the area! I got a flight to make sure I could try most of them and it didn't disappoint! I enjoy visiting 4 by 4 Brewery. We have visited a couple times and think it is a fun place to hang out and have a couple of beers. My favorite beer they have is the 1835 Black IPA. I have enjoyed several of their other options. Recently we tried the Half a Hill Mule and I liked it as well. They just built a new outside area and it was definitely needed! They have a great space but it is a small space. They have water on tap for you, which is nice. You can refill as you need. They also have a popcorn machine and really clean bathrooms. I love their Beer it Forward Wall. Basically, you can buy a beer for someone and then they write their name on the chalkboard so when that person visits, they get their beer for "free." They have a really nice location and I appreciate everything they are trying to do. I cannot wait to see their taps at local restaurants. We love local brewed beer and will continue to support this business! read more
