Really disappointed in 3rd Ave Barber Shop. I really liked them the first couple times we went! But last time I got my toddler haircut they double booked us or decided to take a friend/regular before us. This time Irene never even showed (or showed beyond what my toddler could handle) Was there a little before our appointment, waited 15 mins and had to leave bc my 3 year old was about to have a meltdown. All we got was an insincere sounding sorry. They seem popular so I'm sure they'll continue to be successful without our business. read more

Manny is a top-notch stylist who regularly cuts my (baby boomer) husband's and our (millennial) son's hair. Recently I persuaded my husband to get a shave there in addition to his regular haircut -- he told me he'd never gotten a professional shave before -- and he was delighted with the result! While we were there -- since our shower was temporarily out of order that week and I hadn't been able to wash my hair for a few days -- I asked Manny if he'd be able to just wash and blow-dry my hair; he said yes and did a great job, charging me only for those two services since I didn't get a cut or style. Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality I've been coming to 3rd ave barber shop for over 15 years now and haven't regretted it once! Always top notch and with this pandemic and them re-opening it's by far the safest place to get a cut. Everything is cleaned after each person/and the work area every half hour. Both the barber and client is safe with protection like masks gloves, disposable barber capes and hand sanitizer. This place has been home to me for a long time and I don't see that changing. What can I say about this place? AMAZING!!! My son is 3.5 and is NOT a fan of haircuts. At all. Never was. Finding a barber for him has been dreadful, and his hair just has been out of control. Albert seems to have changed his mind (somewhat lol). I've never seen someone so patient and smooth with him before regarding his haircut. He let him touch all the tools and showed him exactly what he was doing before he did it. They have cute little cars for the kids to sit in, which my son absolutely loved, and that helped the process. I will 100% be back here for his cuts. Place is a amazing, it's spotless, you gotta see the way they clean it after each client , all disposable stuff. Found this place when I first moved to Bay Ridge about 3 years ago and haven't been to another barber since. This is a family run operation, both Irene and Albert are great people and always provide some great barbershop banter. As someone who has been losing their hair slowly since 19, it was hard to find a barber who could make the hair that I have left look good. Bad customer service, make an appointment and they still expect you to wait as if you're a walk-in . Its one thing if Irene the barber is finishing up with a client, that is understandable. In my case I walk in at my appointment time Irene finishes with someone and then takes another customer while I'm sitting there and tells me I needed to wait. What's the point of an appointment if they still expect you to wait... Terrible! There are far too many great barber shops in Brooklyn to do this to your customers who are making appointments which is guaranteed business. read more

From the moment you walk in and see two guys eating fries while cutting people's hair, it should be a sign to walk out of there fast. They are highly unprofessional and do not spend time cutting your hair unless you're friends with them, as I observed from the guy that went before me. If you tell them that you're not happy with the outcome, they'll tell you that they know better. I took my son (22 months) for his 2nd official haircut (1st haircut was done New Year's Eve but doesn't count b/c he didn't stay still and it ended up being more of a trim than anything else, that was done in Manhattan). I was on a quest to find a new barber in my neighborhood. I came across 3rd Avenue Barbershop as I took a stroll with my son and decided to try it; I was very happy and pleased that I did. The barber was great! Having kids of his own he had the upmost patience with my son. He listened to direction as well as my concerns. I felt very comfortable. At the end of the haircut he gave my son a lollipop and let me take pictures of him in the car shaped chair. So sweet!!!!! My son looks adorable with his new haircut!!!
