Here are the reasons we LOVE TLC: 1. Small class sizes (just like we had at our private school) 2. Feeling of welcoming, one big family! 3. Inclusive, my children have learned to interact with ALL kids! Typical or not! It truly warms our heart to see my children helping others on the playground and in classroom. 4. Teachers are responsive, and highly educated. 5. Kids are always recognized for their kindness and their success. 6. My children LOVE going to school! 7. Because of TLC's Gardening classes with Farmer Mark, the kids have created our own garden in our yard. They educate my husband and I :) 8. Teachers recognize each child's learning level. 9. All parents are welcomed to be part of the TLCCA which allows you to see what the kids are doing, help with parties, come up with fun events and help make TLC fun and engaging! 10. Homework is limited, my kids don't have excessive homework as in private schools. We get to spend more family time together playing Monopoly at home and Uno :) 11. My children are thriving! They are well educated and honestly sometimes we as parents, think they are book smarter than us :) Overall, I cannot emphasize enough about how much we love this school. Did I mention that the principal & Vice Principal know every student by name! That, I love!

This school is wonderful for elementary school grades and that's where they should stop…read more Junior high does not adequately prepare students for high school (one month into high school, we are now living a nightmare). In the entire 8th grade they wrote two essays and there is no feedback loop for corrections. They baby the students due to their learning differences rather than pushing them. Science and history are adequate but math and English are absolutely subpar. I know at least 4 other families who complained about one of the English teachers but the administration acted as though it was a situation unique to us. Irvine unified came to observe my son's class as part of his tri--annual and advised that he had made zero progress in middle school. They also observed the complete disorganization of the teacher who had planned a lesson where the students were to write an email only to realize the students didn't have the ability to send emails. She flailed trying to figure out how to handle the situation. Lack of use of canvas or email is also detrimental to students moving into high school as they are ill prepared. My suggestion is to start your child there young as the OG intervention in elementary is fantastic. But get out by 7th grade if you want your student to have a chance in high school!

Prior to coming here , he hated school , had a ton of behavioral issues and was so unhappy and school was just awful for him. We have been here for 4 years now. He loves school , he's thriving and it's absolutely remarkable to see how much he's changed and grown. The staff is amazing and I'll forever be grateful to have found this school. They truly do care about our children and they go above and beyond every day to make this environment a positive one for my son. I highly recommend Mardan if you're needing an alternative to public school , especially for children with special needs.

The front desk knew I was serious and determined and a no fuss mother who wanted answers. Finding a solution, giving me answers and showing me the steps was comforting. I had learned about the center from a speech therapist. She suggested it and said you are the only determined mother who will drive an hour one way daily. Two hours round trip! I did! I drove so much and was exhausted. Needless to say thank you Stowell as I write this with tears in my eyes. My son can read, he is graduating from high school in eight weeks and currently has a 3.74. It has been four years since he has been there but looking back I don't regret all the money, time spent. Seeing your child thrive is priceless!!! Thank you to Kaitlyn!! Thank you Everyone else! He is so relieved to be at a different school now. It was also very clear the staff had A strong dislike for my son. They actually said they dnt think there's anything they can do to help him. I found out in our iep meeting that they weren't even giving him chance to be in the classroom everyday they would just escort him to a room where no work was done. He was disciplined essentially every morning right at the door without a fresh start opportunity to join the class. I would recommend my son says his current school has transfers from Olive Crest who share a similar experience and are so traumatized they cannot complete work in the classroom or at all. This place should be shut down.
