If you like a shared space gym that's packed full of fun things, then this is the place to be! I…read morefelt both completely out of my element and right at home as a traveling aerialist. The space is compact and looks like a parkour gym with a little bit of this and a little bit of that tucked away in every corner (even a fairly full-looking weights area in the front of the building outside of the parkour area). The other students looked like they were very comfortable in the space, and the other students in my (Chinese pole) class were very nice, and we played around together after our class, which was awesome! The instructor did a great job moving the class along and bringing everything up/down in difficulty depending on the individual student. I loved trying out this new apparatus in such an encouraging and judgment-free place. I'll be back next time I'm in town.

Since I was 11 years old, I've always wanted to do a backflip. Now that I'm 40, it seemed like a…read morelost dream. I bought one of these 30 day challenges online I thought would help me achieve a backflip, but it ended up teaching me the wrong stuff. Then someone recommended Apex to help me because they have drop-in classes and one-on-one coaching. Within four months, I finally got results! Here are my takeaways for success: * Come in with a goal. Pick a trick (or several). It motivates you to keep coming and helps you gauge your progress. * Do a monthly membership for at least three months. It gives you access to all their classes, which leads me to the next point.... * Take different classes. They do a LOT more than parkour, and I've yet to take a parkour class. They do aerial, handstand classes, tumbling, trampoline, tricking, and more. Taking other courses rounds out your training and helps your brain put all the pieces together. Most importantly, you get access to different coaches. I started with tricking, then tried a tumbling class with Anthony and everything came together. He's an incredible teacher who's great at demonstrating. But they all have unique teaching styles. Rob gives simple, clear instructions that work up to more complex tricks--with big results; Natatia has a great warmup and is vigilant to avoid injuries; and Bethel can spot mistakes others miss. It's important to find what works for you and every instructor is unique. * Consider private lessons. Ryan is a phenomenal coach, one of the absolute best I've ever met. I made more progress in one hour with him than months on my own. He's the perfect combination of supportive and challenging. HIGHLY recommend talking to him. * ASK QUESTIONS. Some reviews suggest people are unapproachable here. They aren't. They assume you are working on something unless you state otherwise. You'll understand why as soon as you land a trick and stimagine if everyone was interfering with your practice. Sometime you just need to do the work uninterrupted. * Finally, be gentle with yourself and your expectations. This is a lifestyle and progress moves at the pace your fingernails grow. Don't rush what's uncomfortable. It helps if you have other stuff to work on so your mind-body connection can rest. That's where learning happens.... Good luck to you and enjoy. This place will truly change your life.

We have been to the camps before, but this year it was beyond disappointing. Our daughter is enrolled in the 2-week camp: 7/26 - 8/6 and we have to tell you how disappointing this week has been. First of all, the counsellors are great and Grey really liked them - we have no complaints there. We want to bring to your attention just how the kids spent the week: Day 1: they went canoeing in a lake where the water is so filthy and toxic that the kids were told they could not get in the water at all and to make sure the water didn't go near their mouths as they would get extremely sick. Day 2: they went on a bike ride and were taken to a trail that was completely exposed and offered no shade. Ultimately, they could only ride for 30+ minutes before they had to call it quits as the kids were overheating. When the 100+ degree weather is taken into consideration, this seems like a ridiculous activity and a poor choice of bike path. Apparently they spend most of the day sitting under a tree to escape the heat. Day 3: a hike was planned but apparently one of the kids forgot their medication so once at their destination, they all sat around and waited over an hour for the child's mother to arrive with the medication. Once that was over they "hiked" for literally 20 minutes before loading up and driving back. Day 4: this was another water day an equally filthy lake. Even though the temperature was over 100 degrees, they couldn't jump in the lake. Day 5: this was the only day our daughter enjoyed because they finally went to a lake where they could jump in the water. When one takes into account the $100/day price tag we pay for your camp to show our children the kind of summertime outdoor adventures we as parents would have enjoyed taking them on ourselves, it seems as though all we paid for in the end was an elaborate daycare.

I am planning to do some drawing and possibly more painting over the Summer. They offer kids classes too. We used water colors as the base today and she started by teaching several techniques, which was incredibly helpful once we started our abstract pieces. We also used pastels on top, which I thought added a really cool texture to my work. The teacher made each part seem so simple, everyone in the class was able to make something really beautiful. So much fun! Go check it out.

Being that the event was on a Saturday the parking lot was relatively empty so I didn't have to find street parking, but I did notice many of my classmates found street parking. No one complained do it must have been easy. The class was small and intimate with 8 of us present. The instructor Karin introduced us to the Art Students League of Denver, the offerings, and some history. We went around the room and discussed everyone's level of experience and interests. She really listened and worked to tailor our experience based on our responses. Each seat was set up with the materials we needed and we started off with introductory stitches. After an hour we focused on our Art piece and near the end of class picked up remaining supplies to finish our work at home. 10 mins before leaving we all did stretching exercises and cleaned up the room. I'd recommend attending if others are interested in learning something new or expanding their skill set.
