The position of the two bench presses and incline bench are pushed up against the wall on the East side of the building. Right where the steel reinforcement beams are located which leaves NO space to safely spot your partner without hitting your head or back on one of those beams. You cannot even get behind them without crawling around the weights or beams themselves. This is incredibly dangerous and a major safety issue. Whomever designed the layout of the weight room does not appear to have experience with weight training. The nautilus machines and free weight areas should probably be switched. There is nowhere to safely stretch (people do it under the stairs) or do ab exercises, box jumps, etc. Someone, with knowledge of weight training, should redesign the space for efficiency and safety.

This facility has a wall of huge windows with a beautiful view of the mountains. It's kept up & clean. There's always plenty of parking...there are even charging stations for electric vehicles. Note, membership is free for Denver residents that are 60+ & those ages 5-18. With membership you have access to all 30 Denver rec centers & pools. I regularly go to two classes - one is a Cardio & Strength class & the other is Tai Chi, both are drop-in. The instructors are fun & very knowledgeable. Christine teaches the cardio class & always demonstrates modifications, so it's perfect for all levels of fitness. Maureen is very well versed in Tai Chi as well. Newbies register and participate in a class for beginners where you learn all six punches and you experience a taste of what the class is like for 30 minutes. Please note that you do need to purchase wraps ($5 or $15 options) but you do get to borrow boxing gloves for free for your first class! You spend half the time punching and the other half on core. This review is for the Northfield location. Cleanliness - 1 star. The bathrooms are always either dirty with shaving stubble or straight gunk. Soap dispenser was broken today. The choice to have hand dryers that blow air rather than supply paper towels is nasty. Hand dryers suck in air and the particles floating around in it then blast all that back out. A 2018 U of Connecticut/Quinnipiac study found that bathroom hand dryers blow a mix of bacteria including FECAL matter - that's poop - back onto freshly washed hands. Equipment - 1 star. This place is always packed to the gills because it's tiny. Equipment is limited and I don't even attempt a full workout anymore because I don't want to be waiting around all night to get to the weights/machines/space I need. Value - 1 star. Anytime Northfield delivers on being a gym accesible 24 hours a day all year round. Whether equipment is available or clean is another story. Staff - 4 stars. Generally friendly and helpful.

For anyone considering, I don't recommend a membership here because, strangely, members incur cancelation fees and penalties that non-members don't. Instead, you should wait for when they run deals for a group of passes. That's the way to go. It's also not a good idea to sign up for the wait list for any class. They can add you shortly before the class begins, and you cannot cancel. If you aren't monitoring your email or arrive late, they will not only charge you for attending the class ($20-$35) but also for not showing up ($50). It really should be one fee or the other, not both. If there were another lagree studio in Central Park, I'd try elsewhere because I think it's the actual lagree method that is the true value. But this is, I believe, the only one in this area.

In addition there are a lot of other perks that complement the WODs, with my favorite that there is a physical therapist located in the building and you can simply text her to book an appointment (and you can do it around your workout timing so no excuses for not getting the treatment you might need!). And this place is very kid friendly for the weekend workouts and my 3 kids love coming while I get a great workout.
