Extremely Disappointing, Overpriced, and Serious Food Safety Concerns…read more
I really wanted to give this place a fair chance, but after multiple disappointing experiences, I have finally reached my limit.
I ordered the 12 oz Bangus (Milkfish) entrée for $20, with no side. For that price, I expected a full fish or, at the very least, a side dish to accompany it. Instead, I received half a fish served with raw peppers and an assortment of sliced onions. To make matters worse, I found a hair with my lemon. Absolutely unacceptable.
The sour tamarind broth arrived with what appeared to be a fruit fly in it, and the surface was covered in an excessive amount of fat and scum. This immediately raised serious concerns about food quality and sanitation.
The lumpia, which I ordered twice the quantity of for $14, consisted of only eight pieces. They were tiny, dry, bland, and practically tasteless. I have never been served lumpia this disappointing, especially at that price point.
The chicken barbecue was equally disappointing: dry, bland, and so darkly cooked that it looked completely unappetizing.
I also ordered 8 oz of langka (jackfruit) in coconut cream. It was bland, the coconut cream was chunky, and the jackfruit itself was still crunchy. The texture and flavor were nowhere near what I would expect from this dish.
As a Filipino, it genuinely saddens me to see food that does so little to represent our cuisine well. Filipino food is rich in flavor, tradition, and heart. Unfortunately, my experience here was the opposite: bland, poorly executed dishes, disappointing portions, and prices that simply do not reflect the quality being served.
The most concerning part, however, is the potential food safety issue. Finding what appeared to be a hair in one dish and a fruit fly in another is not something any customer should have to experience.
I have given this establishment plenty of chances, hoping each visit would be better than the last. Instead, I have been disappointed repeatedly. At this point, I will not be ordering from here again.
To anyone considering ordering, I encourage you to manage your expectations.
And to the owner: PLEASE DO BETTER. Your customers deserve food that is flavorful, properly prepared, reasonably portioned, worth the price, and handled with the utmost attention to cleanliness and food safety.
