I can't imagine this restaurant getting anything under a 4 rating. It is outstanding. The service was top notch with a very attentive wait staff. We started with a wedge salad that we split and were amazed how delicious something so simple can be. Then we had a wonderful ribeye that was "melt in your mouth" good. Please try the mushrooms. Good luck with online reservations... I reserved for two at 6:30 on 8/2/25 for our 27th anniversary. I received a confirmation for 7:30 mountain time. I read that the place follows mountain time and planned accordingly. When we didn't show up at 6:30 mountain time, they canceled us. Tried getting seated anyway (multiple vacant tables) and was told there was no way they could serve us. Bad communication all the way around. Won't return ever. read more

I had really high expectations of this place. For what it costs to dine out anywhere any more, the experience better be spectacular. We were very happy with our experience and very surprised that it was excellent. I mean, Jackpot is no culinary destination, by any stretch. Still, the restaurant is quiet, understated and elegant. The service is about as good and refined as you're going to get outside of big city fine dining. Pacing is always a problem in 90% of restaurants, but they coursed everything and it was a very leisurely dining experience. We had the baked brie which was very good, my favorite part of the meal, especially the berry, nut and raisin mix they served with it. Husband had the filet and I had the short rib pasta. The portions were generous, everything was nicely prepared and presented. Our server was very sweet and attentive. It's nice to find fine dining in this region, there is so little of it. We ate here before Covid then it closed down. We are happy to say it has reopened and is better then ever! It is located in Cactus Pets Casino and is very small with limited servings so be sure to make reservations in advance. We had "Zoe" for our server and she hit it out of the park! She was beyond friendly and the service was as expected when spending $60 + for a steak. Started with a perfect Gin Martini then table-side Caesar that was just outstanding! Two in our group got the onion soup and loved it but said it was a bit on the salty side. (Onion soup normally is to me?) We ordered Ribeyes and Filets. My Ribeye was just perfect and my better half said the char/flavor on her filet was perhaps the best she has had! All and all everyone from the hostess, server, and salad preparer could not have been nicer. The Ambiance is nothing to boost about. It's clean, nice and comfortable. I have eaten at many restaurants throughout the world, this may not be Italy, France, London, NYC, or San Fran... but listen to me when I say the wait staff is nothing less then any of the above!!!! While dinning tonight there was a table of down right rude disrespectful patrons.... I finally had to get up and make my peace with them, the wait staff was calm and cool throughout the entire evening taking their abuse. The food was top notch, the wine list fantastic.. Zoe was nothing short of amazing!!!! Hats of to the Chef meals of that nature I am sure are not easy to develop much less sell in a place such as Jackpot, yet each and every member of this crew knocked it out of the park!!! We ate dinner here March 25, 2022.  We ordered a filet mignon, potatoes au gratin, shrimp scamp (4 pieces of shrimp) and asparagus.  We ordered our meal at 5:35 pm and received our it at 6:20 pm. I ate the shrimp and at 2 pieces I stopped eating.  Immediately afterwards I started feeling very sick....  If you have ever experienced food poisoning.  This was it. We had to drive from Jackpot, NV back to Nampa, ID.  This was the longest 3 hour drive in my life... This was not a good birthday trip! read more

We were seated at a table although we did not have a reservation, but there was lots of seating available anyway. While we were looking at the menu, the host / server brought us a side dish and said that was a compliment from the chef. It was served at room temperature and looked like pork belly which tasted average. A female server who was very friendly, pleasant and attentive took our orders. Every meal is ala carte I ordered the smoked Alaska salmon with a side of mashed potato, and my lady ordered the seafood fettuccine. A basket of dinner roll was served before our meals but got removed when our entree arrived, but the empty dish from the chef's side dish remained till the end of our meals. That puzzled us and couldn't really figure out the practice of dinner etiquette in this restaurant. The pasta dish was delicious, nicely prepared in a tasty yet a bit rich sauce with two each jumbo scallops and prawns,which were very fresh and pack with flavors. My salmon came in a delightful smoke scent and the fish filet was prepared to a perfect medium done, with an apple radish covering the salmon, it sat on a bed of couscous. All the components were nicely put together and made a complete dish. Had I been informed of this, I am sure that I would not order the side dish of mash potato. It's a good place to stop over for dinner if you are passing by, however, I would not make this place a regular stop, as it is quite pricey. read more

We took our son for his 23rd birthday, had such high expectations but was very disappointed! The menu is very small And as far as seafood they had lobster tail or seafood pasta that was all. We booked dinner when we made our hotel reservations. When we arrived we weren't sure what to expect from a small town casino steakhouse but we were more than impressed! The food was incredible as was the service! Our waitress Zoe was incredible from making our drinks to the very end of our meal! This was a pretty nice place, I got the seafood fettuccine..very sad to say it was more SEA than it was food, I'm talking so salty I felt like throwing up, couldn't finish more than a bite..my boyfriends steak was absolutely delicious though! Since I'm a waitress myself I didn't request to have my dish remade because I know how stressful and frustrating it is to have upset customers over kitchen mistakes. Also the Tiramisu was to die for!! If it weren't for my $34 dish of salt and the overly talkative waiter it would be a five star from me. read more

It's not a destination dinning experience but if you're gambling at Cactus Petes in Jackpot Nevada it's the best dinner in 100 miles. The service is attentive but not overly so. The decor is maybe a little dated (as is the entire casino). Small venue 15 or so tables. Before the pandemic this place was totally 5 star. It's still good but staffing issues make it suffer. I had the Shrimp on the rocks appetizer and the presentation and portion was good. Main was Steak au Poivre. There were four medallions two were a little tough and two were perfect. The pepper corn sauce was not a cream sauce as the original recipe intended or as peppery as I would have liked but it was still very good. Finally, I had a side potatoes au gratin. These were also very good, the sauce maybe a little too watery. The wine list isn't epic but they have a good selection from low end Mark West to high end Cain Five. It's somewhat spendy, likely not to get out of there under $125.00 a person but it's worth the price. I'll go back. read more

Told her that for $40 for the Rib eye and did not get a Rib eye it should be discounted. She get the chef to come out and give me more lie's like I have never had a Rib eye before.... I've been dining here 30+ time in the past 20 years and the food/service is always excellent. I'm always confused by the negative ratings. Our meal was perfect for my wife and I again last evening. She had the Chilean Sea Bass and I had the Salmon, with Bananas Foster for dessert. All were prepared perfectly and the table service performed by Heidi was attentive, consistent and friendly. The service is NOT hurried, and the pricing is reasonable. I travel some and dine in some high-end establishments. The food, service and pricing compares VERY nicely with anywhere I've eaten. We visit cactus Petes in Jackpot NV quite often, we usually eat at the buffet, which is pretty good! We decided to eat at 36 Steak and seafood because it was my husbands birthday and wanted something special. Our meal was absolutely delicious! We both had the filet and lobster with asparagus and augratin potatoes. I was really hesitant on ordering the steak because of the previous reviews. Our server Russ recommended the filet and he guaranteed me it would be good so I gave it a chance and 'am so glad I did, it was the best meal I have had in a long time and i'am very picky about my food. Russ made our experience very nice, he is a top notch server at the steak house or poolside, which is where we first met him. Service was great! It took a long time to receive the main course. This was our first time visiting after the resent remodel. I wasn't impressed with the food. This was the first time ever receiving a meal that wasn't up to my expectations. So my husband and I were disappointed. We both ordered steaks neither were up to the standards we have grown to expect. Also both of our 1 lb. Baked potatoes were Luke warm. Another point that I noticed was that the new name stated 36 steak and seafood. There was a very limited seafood selection and they are serving Farmed Salmon. I made a reservation for this place when I checked in at the hotel. The room is tiny, and there was no where to wait after I checked in, so I was directed to sit at the bar while my booth was prepared. Another staff member grabbed me from the bar area and sat me at a little table. I mentioned that the other server was setting up a booth for me and I would have preferred the table I actually reserved. He said that was all that was available and throughout my entire meal that booth sat empty, which kinda made me mad. Seeing that the table they gave me had a broken flashing bulb right above it. I honestly did not know who my server was. Someone who appeared to be the manager took my drink and food order. Someone else brought out my food. I think the chef stopped by to ask me about my meal, and another guy brought me my check. Food was pretty good. I ordered the sirloin but this thing was the size of my fist. It was tender and juicy and reminded me of filet mignon, could have been a mix up in the kitchen but no complaints here. Had the banana Russian drink and it seriously had me lit. I will probably never be in Jackpot Nevada again but if I am I would stop in. read more

In walking into this posh looking restaurant my husband and I felt a bit under dressed. The lighting was very low and dark as the man (I assume the owner) that checked us in discovered the lamps had no bulbs above each of the side booths. We reviewed the menu and weren't surprised at the prices. I chose a filet mignon requested med rare with sautéed mushrooms and a ceasar salad. The filet was marked at 52.00 the mushrooms at 16.00 and the salad for 2 was 12.00. The best part of the meal was the table side prep of the ceasar salad. My filet was very rare, the mushrooms had been either microwaved to death or baked, not sautéed. There was a pile of poorly cooked onions in red wine sauce on the side as well as something quite odd to me. An entire head of baked garlic. There was little to no seasoning on the steak and certainly none on the shriveled dried out mushrooms. I did request my steak be prepared as ordered (I mean, 52.00 right?) It was sent back. I also requested some garlic butter to attempt to salvage (a very large portion I may add) my mushrooms. To no avail. The owner came to the table and informed me that my steak was being "refired". When my plate was returned the plate itself was scorching hot the head of garlic was darker and drier than before, my steak had even shrunk in size. It was quite clear the entire plate was popped into a microwave. Now I may be a small town country girl but, I know food. That precious cut of beef was done zero justice, the mushrooms were horrible and enough for 3 to 4 people. The owner did comp the mushrooms and in the end a dinner for 3 was 198.64. The best part of this meal was the ceasar salad (including prep and the very nice man that did it) and the 2 very strong margaritas I myself drank while waiting for my food and waiting for it to come back to the table. I actually did not eat my steak or the mushrooms. I later got a sub sandwich from NOSH, also located in the Cactus Petes Hotel and Casino. Proper cook on steak is key, as well as portion sizes. I truly had hoped such an upscale place would have given way more bang for the buck. I will also add my sisters prime rib was a 16 oz 1.5 inch thick slab. We really enjoyed our time last night. We were there for a friends 30th birthday dinner. The service was great and our waitress was nice! My husband and I ordered the prime rib special we made sure to order it medium as we wanted it medium rare. Many times if you go a step above what you want you get exactly what you want. The meat was tender sides delicious! Atmosphere is super quiet you wouldn't know that you were in a casino. It is a smaller place so if you have a group like we had it may be smart to make reservation around 7 so there are more people. We went at 6 and were the only ones for a little bit and a few couples came in. Would highly recommend this place! read more

My wife and I went down last week for our anniversary. Despite the bad reviews we decided to eat at 36 Steak and Seafood.. since it's the only fancy restaurant in the area. What a mistake. My wife ordered the crab cake that was refrigerator cold and I ordered the chicken cordon bleu with the white cheddar potatoes au gratin. Very disappointed in the meal. The bad part is we were truly looking forward to "fine dining" (No kids) and felt leaving ripped off. To top it off I messaged Cactus Pete's to inform them.. not to get any freebies but to let them know the dinner was garbage.. but no reply. Please do yourself a favor and take the reviews seriously. Waited over 2 hours for our dinner, when it finally came out not all of it was there. So had to wait even longer for the rest of it. Service was non existent, and yet they expect a nice tip but can't bother to refill our water or offer a discount for the wait and sub par food. I do not recommend spending your money here. We arrived on time for our reservation, were told we were going to be seated in a booth, then the host realized the table wasn't ready so we had to wait around while the staff tried to figure out what was going on/got the table ready. Normally this wouldn't be an issue, but the place wasn't packed and there were plenty of other available tables. I'm just asking that when I've had to confirm my reservation half an hour before arriving that when we do arrive, they know we're coming and be ready when the place is clearly not slammed, because standing around waiting in front of other diners is awkward when there's no real space to do so. Our server was great; Frannie was sweet, attentive, and personable. The food was just ok, which was especially disappointing considering I had a stellar experience a couple months ago and was really excited to share the same with my family on my mom's 60th birthday. A word of caution for anyone excited about the 'crispy' brussel sprouts: 'crispy' is code for completely undercooked. I was actually very concerned I might choke on the little buggers and made a futile attempt to cut them in half with a very sharp steak knife, to no avail. All in all, a expensive and mediocre dining experience as a disappointing follow up to a previously fantastic one. I'm sure I'll give them another shot, but not without some hesitation. Was surprised to see less change than expected from the Plateau Room, which is both good and bad - we loved the Plateau Room before it began its descent into mediocrity, so were happy to see some things on the menu carried over, but also raised the concern that the changes were more cosmetic than meaningful. Based on this experience we are cautiously optimistic that it will return to some semblance of its former caliber. A 48th Anniversary celebration meant going to 36 Steak and Seafood. We loved the atmosphere and lighting. Nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the casino. Started the dinner with a fresh spinach salad made right at our table. It was excellent. Then on to the entree. Husband chose the ribeye which was so tender and full of juicy flavor, and I chose the Seafood pasta which was so rich and delicious. We were happy with what we had chosen. The service was top notch and we ended the night with an Anniversary dessert. Tiramisu in a chocolate bowl. Great experience all around. The staff went above and beyond to make our dinner memorable. I visited this place with a friend who was traveling from Australia. Our waiter Russ was very attentive and did confirm that the salmon on the menu was wild because my friend is a vegetarian. I ordered my filet medium rare as I always have in this place and it has always been perfect. However, this time I had to return the steak 3 times to prevent it from walking off my plate. Later during the end of the meal, the chef that evening came to speak with me about my order and proceeded to scold me for confusing them by ordering medium rare and that I should have ordered medium. Well, I've never had an issue in the past, nor with other famous steakhouse such as Ruth Chris and I don't know where this chef received his training but I am not going to pay almost $50 for a piece of meat and then have some juvenile chef blame me for his lack of knowledge on meat preparation. Also, the table side prep of the caesar salad is no longer made from scratch and we were told management said taking 10minutes to make a salad table side was too long. That may be, but then don't continue to charge $20 for the salad. Bottom line, pass on this place if you have any other options. read more
