With 14 different meals to prepare they advised it may not All be ready at the same moment. They came to ask if we preferred to have the meals kept warm for simultaneous service or if we would rather have them served when ready. I don't recall such a courteous question before. The food was amazing, the service exceptional, the space was great for a group visit (sorry to other patrons, we may have been a bit loud?) and the location, off Memorial Drive is on the bus route and Walking distance from the Franklin C Train station in Short Pants Plaza. Everything tastes like it's made by the Nigerian mom you never knew you had. The parking in this strip mall REALLY SUCKS. You can park along the street but expect to walk. I've had the pleasure of trying various items from here because my coworkers default to this place for potluck dishes. The meat pies are freshly baked every day and the puff puffs (a deep fried sweetened dough) are like giant fresh, round donuts. The chicken in the tomato stews are hit or miss because they can come out fresh, or really dry and old. I dined-in once with coworkers but don't expect excellent service. The owner is almost always the only one running the restaurant and take out is usually the avenue to go. Price wise, the food is exotic so expect to pay $$$ for some items that may seem plain. The food is good overall, but I'm taking off points for service and the fact that not all popular items are available even during peak hours, so you should call ahead of time before making the trek here.

Today, I had an awful experience and am certain that I will not be returning to Africana again. My table ordered 2 deserts: a mango lassi and a pistachio falooda. Having grown up on these delicacies, I have a pretty good idea of what they should taste like. When we tried our deserts at Africana, they both had a particularly sour taste, as if the milk/yogurt in them had expired. Our server apologized and took them away, only to return a few minutes later and claim that someone in the kitchen tried them and that we were just mistaken (we hadn't complained about any food thus far, so this was a surprise to hear). She also said that they were going to charge us for the deserts anyway despite us sending both of them back filled to the top. I have never experienced anything like this. The manager was around, but did not come to our table. This restaurant seems to take their customers for granted. I would visit the food court for a better experience.
