We were first timers at Flavours Restaurant and it did not disappoint! The owner walked us through the menu and created a tasting menu for us to share. We started by sharing a meat pie and a couple puff puffs followed by a traditional African meal of fufu, goat, melon and kale and spinach vegetable soups, a side of fried plantain, side of jollof rice, and and order of chicken legs. Do not bother, everything on the menu is bad. Tried them twice out of desperation and disbelieve that could be so bad consistently. Asun was hard, Nkwobi tasteless. Moimoi had no flavour except for ginger. The restaurant name is clearly an irony or an inside joke lol. read more

Every second Friday our family picks a restaurant from somewhere in the world that we have never tried. This Friday my oldest daughter, Grace, selected Flavour Cuisine and Catering from West Africa. We had no real idea what to order so the gentleman that answered the phone helped me order and offered some insight and assistance. We had Okele Iyan which is like Nigerian mash potatoes but is used as a scooping vessel for the rest of the meal. The Jollof Rice (spiced rice) is perfectly flavored. The Egusi (melon seed stew) and the Efo Riro (spinach stew) were very unique and enjoyable. We had both Chicken and Beef which had a spice that made our lips and tongues dance. Overall, the flavours were outstanding. Quite spicey but not to hot that you couldn't enjoy the flavours. To me this is a restaurant that I would travel for. The first in Calgary and my favourite stop. Great food homely and welcoming. Highly recommended for all Nigerian dish. Friendly staff.

I have been wanting to try West African food for ages and finally made it to Flavours. The food is very flavourful and well cooked and while we were eating there was a constant stream of people coming in to pick up orders. But the best thing about the place were the owners. Very welcoming and proud of their cuisine and super helpful with suggestions for my friend and I who had never tried it before. We will absolutely be going back! Was looking to try something different so headed over to Flavours Cuisine and was not disappointed. For dinner, we each ordered something different to try and share and thoroughly enjoyed everything that was brought to us. The owner took her time and shared a bit about each dish and made us feel like family. What a wonderful experience. Finally made our way to this wonderful restaurant. Everyone was so friendly and helpful in directing us on making the right choices :) Tasty variety of food. We had the JollofRice with beef, so good !! While their 'soups' are not what Canadian soups are, they were delicious along with their 'bread' which is unlike Canadian bread as well. The plantains/sauce (we had 2 orders :) ) were exceptional as well as the Puff Puffs !! All in all would definitely recommend Flavours Cuisine for a meal made with real love and pride. Decided to stop in today using an Entertainment Book coupon, have never been here before. I ordered Jollof Rice with beef and loved all the flavors in both the rice and beef. Sooo good, highly recommend this dish. Nice clean place, interesting atmosphere, lots of seating, and we liked how there were dividers in the room offering a bit of privacy. Very poor customer service. It took 3+ hours to get my food to me and it's not worth it (quality and taste wise). I was told to leave my number to be called back while placing an order because another order was coming in. I didn't get called back for 1-2+ hours after that and even then the call was to inform me that I will be called back again. I received the worst customer service experience of my life. I contemplated cancelling the order but I didn't because I wanted to see how they would handle the situation. I spoke to the business owner Bola, as well as 4 other people at the restaurant and no one could tell me what was going on with my order. If I had a health condition I would have died in the time waiting for these unprofessional people to do their job! I didn't even get a discount after I complained about their poor customer service last time especially since this is the second time I've given them a chance to prove all their negative reviews wrong. People like this have no business running a restaurant. Laughing at customers on the phone and feigning ignorance is totally unacceptable! I will never subject myself or anyone I know to such horrible service in the future! read more
