    Twisted chicken

The food was ok. Nothing great. The salmon was very bland and needed more glaze. The chicken didn't seem very fresh. It was pretty pricey for the sizes and quality. It was pretty busy on the Abe side so we sat in the dining room so service was a bit slow. The restaurant was clean though.

    French dip

The jalapeño stuffed burger was juicy and perfectly cooked, not spicy at all. French dip was tender and had excellent flavor. Pasta had a decent amount of ingredients, except was lacking on artichokes and was flavorless. Typical Montana restaurant atmosphere, nothing special. Good service.

We have one of the Billings coupon books and decided to use it to determine where to eat tonight. We decided to make the trip to Acton to try 3 North. It was well worth the drive! The restaurant and bar are beautiful and well decorated. Our server and the rest of the staff were friendly and attentive. We never waited long for refills. We had an appetizer of fried pickle chips to start with, served with the 3 North sauce. I was pleasantly surprised that they were handmade fried pickles! They were the right amount of spicy and the house made 3 North sauce was delicious. I had the 12 oz prime rib. It was so tender and seasoned to perfection. It was cooked perfectly as well. I would rate it as one of the top 5 prime rib I've had at a restaurant!

Very nice place, in the middle of Montana prairies

Very slow service for a night that wasn't busy with over-priced and poor quality food. We had high hopes and were super disappointed.

The bourbon glazed bison short ribs are the best ever had. They melt in your mouth. The wedge is also amazing

Good chance that you will enjoy your meal. Although my chicken was raw last time. So, one bad experience in two years.

Very polite service, my husband loves the Chicken Fried Steak! I would like to see them buy Wild Caught Salmon as opposed to Farm Raised!

Lived in Billings for five years and thought I had been to all the good steak places, but no this one is terrific.

Anytime I had a request they were quick to respond and did whatever it took to accommodate our needs. From getting the fridge stocked with food, setting up horse rides for the crew on our day off, holding their work on the ranch so it would be quite for sound when filming, the list goes on! Not only was the hospitality incredible, but the property itself was a dream come true! After a long day of work, it was the perfect place to unwind. We would sit on the porch and watch the beautiful sunsets in the big open sky while cooking our dinner over a campfire. One night we even got to watch roping practice in their outdoor arena. They not only have horses and cows on the ranch, but 3 dogs and 3 cats who became our "office pets" (their dog Prince quickly became our favorite). A great added bonus to our stay having sweet animals come to great us each day. I would recommend the magical Cottenwood Ranch again and again. We were very fortunate recently to spend 3 nights at Burnt Out Lodge. It is a truly unique place…read moreto relax. Your first view of the log cabin lodge reveals an unpretentious structure that is very roomy inside with a large common room that serves as a gathering/breakfast space, seeming to be, with the loft, a nice facility for groups. The Lodge is constructed of logs that remained after a fire consumed 12,000 acres including much of the ranch. The hosts Ruth and Blick shared their story about the building of the lodge which we found fascinating. Our rooms were very spacious with cathedral ceilings with outside entrances/porches. A pond lies just outside the Lodge and a stream just steps further(our fishing skills were too limited to take advantage of those opportunities). Cattle graze all around the site as part of its ranch setting in the coulee and we saw turkeys and deer along the road. Breakfasts were simple but good with large portions and very accommodating (we needed breakfast at 7 AM and it was on the table right on time each day). The long rock/dirt lane road made us wonder whether we were in the right place but signage assured us that we were. The road also encouraged us to stay in during the evenings which was fine for us and resulted in a very tranquil stay. This was our first exposure to Montana "ranch" life and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Preparing meals together was a valuable experience during the reunion. Six individual rooms like hotel rooms -- private bath, closet and area to unpack suitcases, towels, linen, roll-away beds, clock-radios, porch-space outside. High ceilings and quaint log construction. Large common area for dining and socializing. Internet by satellite -- adequate for Email and web, but you won't be streaming video. Cell phones out of range, but you can get cell service by driving 1.5 miles up the road to the ridgetop. Hiking and some fishing on the stream nearby. Large pond for a canoe or raft. Garden flowers and green lawn. Cattle on the surrounding ranch are entertainment. Near enough to Big Timber. The only shortcoming: this area recovering from a fire a few years ago; surrounding hillsides show dead twisted trees with new trees only beginning to grow -- namesake "Burnt Out" lodge. Would certainly go back again; would certainly recommend.
