I made a quick lunch stop here on my way home. I have always heard great things about this place and was excited to check it out! I went with the fish and chips. I will say the batter on the fish and chips was something special. It was a nice crispy thick batter with I THINK some old bay seasoning? It made the fish inside very tender and juicy! Super good! Over all the food and experience was good. Not sure I will go back because it is a little out of the way but the service was good and the beer was good! read more

This is a review for the notorious Dark Lord Day festival which takes place just OUTSIDE the brewery in the cold, harsh elements. This festival is infamous not only for the angry beer snobs who unabashedly rant and rave because they think they are more entitled than others to craft beer, but for the tumultuous storms that often rage on the day of the event. Some years the downpour is so heavy it floods, but thankfully it did not come to that this year. The boo and I were very thrilled to get tickets to this event regardless of any negative stories circulating on the inter-webs. We did end up with Group C tickets but the 2016 fest guaranteed you 4 bottles of Dark Lord plus 1 bottle of a rare variant of your choosing (based on a first come, first serve basis). Thankfully, they offered round-trip shuttles from a pub in Chicago. You do need to buy these separately from your festival ticket, but it's super convenient because who wants to stay in Munster, Indiana? I'd say the rain definitely dampened our experience (pun intended, hehe) but even if we were at times cold and miserable we did enjoy wandering around the tents getting friendly with strangers when offering them a pour from our bottle. The bottle shares were pretty chill, the food was to standard, and the fact that I could get Zombie Dust utilizing one of my vouchers (good up to $40) was an added bonus. In fact, we had a difficult time using up all our vouchers on food and beer. A HUGE sigh of relief though was that the bathrooms were actually not that bad and toilet paper was a plenty! Looking back, we laugh at our predicament and how crazy we were to stand around in the rain all for the sake of nabbing some bottles. We are definitely crazed beer geeks and aren't ashamed of our behavior! (Okay, maybe a little :)) Here are some tips, especially if you are from California and don't understand what that wet stuff called rain is: 1) It will likely rain! Even if the forecast says it won't rain, bring your gear and umbrella just in case! We thought it would only rain at 5pm and it ended up raining ALL DAY. Suffice to say, we got soaked at some point. We were miserable. 2) Bring a backpack. To carry any extra gear and your bottles - those you will receive and any you are bringing. 3) Bring something good from your hometown. People come from all over and will 99% of the time appreciate what you have. They have bottle shares going on everywhere! In fact, kind folks started cracking bottles in our school bus on the way to the fest and in the line to get into the grounds! It was truly thrilling! So make friends and start popping bottles. 4) Hang out near the taps. You'll only be happy sipping on Zombie Dust, Alpha King, and Dark Lord for so long because you'll begin hearing whispers about the crazier stuff. You won't know about these unless you're looking at the boards because they randomly tap them! We unfortunately didn't have the luxury of standing around in the rain with our meager gear, so we missed a lot of good beer. AGAIN, make sure you are comfortable lingering around in the rain. 5) Get there well before your group pick up time. There are two check in lines - the north and south lines. We took an hour to get in, but our friends took over 2 hours in the other line. They almost didn't make their bottle pick up time! So plan accordingly. 6) Once inside the grounds, line up early for your bottle pickup, or don't even consider going unless you score Group B tickets and above. The pickings were quite slim when the time for Group C pickup rolled around. Not sure if my variant is all that great, but it's barrel-aged Dark Lord, so it must be decent regardless right? 7) Guard your bottles with your life because some scumbags WILL attempt to steal them. It has happened in the past and we heard reports of it happening again for this year's fest. I was my ever vigilant self and had my foot at the ready. ;) Enjoy Dark Lord Day if you do score some tickets! It's going to be one pricey trip, but it's still the best excuse for planning a visit to nearby Chicago. read more

3 Floyds Brewing - Of course, all the good variants would be gone by Group C - Breweries Near Me - Munster, Indiana

I'm a huge fan of Three Floyds. If you were to open my fridge at this very moment you would find it stocked with Apocalypse Cow, Space Station Middle Finger, Yum Yum and Arctic Panzer Wolf. While other people dream of Disney World, I dream of a magical land filled with Three Floyds beers. So making the trip from Indianapolis to Munster to visit Three Floyds was a dream come true for me. The beer is excellent and the tap list is amazing. They offer many of their flagship beers like Zombie Dust and Alpha King but the highlight for me was tasting all of the beers exclusive to the pub. On the downside you can't enjoy a beer from the bar while waiting for your table. Also, spots at the bar are on the seating rotation so don't expect to come and grab an open spot - you will be denied. Onto the food. That red potato, sausage and cheesy side dish! I know it's only a side but for whatever reason I can't seem to get it off of my mind. It may have been pricey for a side dish but I would get it again! I liked that you could buy beer for carryout - bombers ($8-$12), 6 packs ($10), and cases ($40). Apparently you can buy Zombie Dust for carryout however you have to get there early and obviously it's limited. We also signed up for the tour. It was super short, like as in 30 minutes short. Not sure if it was due to the current expansion under construction but it was a bit of a let down. Also, no beer is allowed on the tour which just made me sad. On the upside, it was cool to learn that brewer Nick Floyd started brewing beer with a unique random assortment of wok burners and Swiss cheese fermenters. If you ever get the opportunity (I still have yet to get a golden ticket) you simply must come out for Dark Lord Day (aka nector of the gods/highly coveted liquid delight). This event is always held in April and it a must for any beer lover. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed this place. I am a lover of craft beers and this is a great trip. Heavy metal music was pumping through the place. We had a large group and they got us in with no wait and they sat us at a table we could look into the brewery. The food was outstanding. We had the deep fried cheese curds and Buffalo knots. Both great appetizer dishes. For my main course I had the Italian sausage with fries. It was delicious. My girlfriend had the roasted pork dish. It was also great. I recommend giving it a try if you're in the area. The price wasn't too bad, mid range. read more

The Gage with better beer. Hidden away in an industrial wasteland of the region in Munster, IN you'll find the home of my favorite local brewer, Three Floyds. Good thing for us we arrived shortly after the pub opened. It was packed already and we got one of the few remaining tables. While we perused the menus and beer options, featuring just about all of the house brews and a few outstanding guest taps, I soaked in the vibe. I'm going to like any place that decorates itself with tie fighters and storm troopers (We don't need to see his identification, you can move along). Brews first. The Arctic Panzer Wolf for me and the Rabid Rabbit Belgian Farmhouse Ale for my bird. My potent beverage came in a snifter and I sipped up its deliciousness while we waited for our food. I chatted up our server a bit, inquiring about tours, growlers and take away provisions. I'm happy to report all are available, depending on what they've got for sale, of course. The menu is more bistro than you'd expect of a brew pub. You can still get pizzas and burgers. Kris had the veggie za and I had the grilled chicken sandwich with white cheddar, bacon, chipotle, lettuce, tomato and fries. We liked it all. The fries were great. For our second round we had the Gumballhead (hers) and the Alpha King off the cask for this alpha male. Nice to see they had the cask, and that was the best pint of the alpha I've had. Side note:if the cask beer is to your liking, you'll find the Bruce on cask at the Beer Bistro-West Loop representing yo. A great detour for the trip back to town. Not too expensive either. Grabbed a case to go and we were on our way. You'll want to be prompt when they open, they also are open until 2 am. We'll have to do a tour the next time. Road trip anyone? read more

Great food, great drinks! Eat the squash pizza and you won't be sorry. The only reason this place does not have five stars is because of the staff. AWFUL STAFF. When we were called we found that one of our friends forgot his id and had to return home to get it. The hostess told us she didn't want to seat us and the table would not be served until our friend returned with his ID, in the rudest manner possible. She threw the clipboards on our table and rolled her eyes at us. The waitress was very slow and we had to seek her out when we wanted to place an order. I'm sorry, but I would have spent a LOT more money at that place had the service been great. I will never go back again until I hear that the staff has been reconsidered. read more

My husband and I woke up this past Saturday with nothing on our calendar. What? Crazy! Once we got over the shock, we realized we needed something to do. Yelp Bookmarks to the rescue! We plugged Three Floyds into the GPS and we were brought to an industrial park. Hmmm... maybe this isn't the right place. Oh but it is. Three Floyds is nestled in the back and surrounded by cars. When we inched closer we immediately noticed the long line outside. Dang! Did we had inadvertently showed up on some sort of special day? No, upon further investigation, we realized that this was the norm. I waded through the crowds and talked to the door man. The bad news is that we were told that it would be well over an hour before we got seated. Wowzers! That is a long wait. The good news is that everyone outside is in the same boat and happy to be waiting. We met some really nice people in line and once we got inside it almost felt like we had friends there. It did end up taking well over an hour; so, once my toes thawed out, I was thirsty and starving. We both ordered the beer flight. It comes with four choices, two of which we liked. We aren't IPA people but, I was happy to try it. I really hoped that I would expand my pallet beyond wheat beers and lagers but alas it is not the case. I did love Pride and Joy and Gumballhead. The beer was great but it is the mussels that I can't get out of my head. The tangy, yellow sauce, sour apples, celery and mussel combination is out of this world. When we ran out of bread, I had to stop myself from tipping the bowl up to slurp up the rest. For my entree I ordered the chicken sandwich and my husband ordered the hamburger. Both tasty! I will go back, but maybe when it is warmer out and I have a snack! read more

If you like beer, then this is worth the trip and wait! I take the trip a few times a year, literally just to go to Three Floyds. Yes you will have to wait in line, even if you show up a bit before it opens, they cannot let everyone in at once. Think about it...if they let everyone in at once, then they would overwhelm the staff and you could just sit at your table for awhile without anyone acknowledging your existence. That isn't the kind of service they want to give you because they want to make sure you get excellent service. That is something I can respect. Sorry if I seemed a bit harsh, it just makes me sad when a place gets less stars because they are trying to give you excellent customer service. People love this place and a line speaks volumes of its popularity. Dress warm if it is cold out and expect to wait in line. I can tell you it will all be worth it though. I recommend to anyone that goes to sit at the bar. The bartender, Greg, is super friendly and knowledgable. He will explain anything you need and will help you pick something of your liking! The food is exceptional. Probably the best food I have ever had at a brewery. It could be to the level of fine dining without the suit and tie. Just wonderfully done and well thought out! Always tons of beers on tap, they even feature a few beers from other breweries! You are bound to like something! My only negativity and it is the same every time, is that every time I go they have never have women's shirts smaller than a large and even then it is left overs in the back! Please carry smaller sized clothing! I would buy it all! Size small PLEASE!!!! read more

We arrived 20 minutes before open and the line was already about 25 people long outside. Unfortunately, they were not doing tours for whatever reason. So it turned into a beer and food trip, not that there's anything wrong with that. The decor was very left of center. Loud metal music, skeletons, and tattoos, which isn't necessarily my thing but I still felt welcome. Plus on the shelves was some old school WWE merchandise, always a plus in my book. The music wasn't ear-splitting, but still loud enough where we had to raise our voices to have a conversation. I'd never been to the brewery and I'd only had Gumballhead before, so I tried a couple of new ones. First, I ordered the Alpha King, their flagship beer. It had a caramel overtone to it and a citrus hoppiness on the end. It's a very solid beer that would pair well with a good burger or some fried chicken. Second, the Zombie Dust is another one of their most popular selections. Like the Alpha King, this is also a Pale Ale. It's not quite as bitter and went down really easily. I would easily buy a case of this beer. Finally, I tried one of their specialty brews, called Perched Atop the Denim Throne. Just the description alone convinced me I had to try it. "This American Amber IPA was brewed as a tribute to our favorite fallen heroes in the squared circle. Gone too soon are: "The American Dream", Mr. Perfect, The Ultimate Warrior, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Andre the Giant, Macho Man, Miss Elizabeth, Ravishing Rick Rude, Owen Hart, The Von Erichs, Paul Bearer and the Junkyard Dog." Even though I'm not a real big IPA fan, this was incredibly drinkable. It had a robust flavor with a full crisp finish. I sampled a Moloko, which is a milk stout, and I never ever drink stouts. But the one that I tried didn't taste overwhelming or heavy. It was just a deep, bold satisfying beer, that tasted like it had been roasted. Would be very satisfying in the winter. And then there's the food. Wow, that food. I am so impressed with how much planning they put into it. The presentations are nice, the combinations are creative, and the flavors are wonderful. The chicken wings were brined and smoked. They were then covered in a spicy BBQ coffee rub and served with refreshing pickled watermelon cubes. The spice was great and the wings were juicy. We also got the bacon and porter caramel corn. they pop the corn in duck fat and add in chopped house-cured bacon. Need I say more? And the cheese curds may have been the best I've ever had. They were huge, dipped in a tempura batter and deep fried. They were topped with a kimchi aioli and then served with julienne red peppers and green onions on top for a pop of color. Amazing. I asked for my steak sandwich to be cooked medium rare and it was cooked right on the money. It had grilled onions, arugula, dijon mustard, chihuahua cheese, and was served on a baguette. It was really good and the arugula added a different flavor that what you'd normally get in a steak sandwich. And don't skip the fries. The are definitely fresh cut, topped with garlic and salt, and sprinkled with parmesan shavings. And that parmesan is incredibly robust, it ain't from a can. It tastes like it was just grated. And the beignets were an incredible dessert. Hot and soft pillows of fried dough. The chocolate sauce is totally unnecessary, but try it if you must. This is a tremendous place and I plan to visit the brewery a few times every year, even though it's 90 minutes from my house. It's that good. read more

Yes, I finally made it to this beer mecca once I landed in Chicago back in May. My friends picked me up at Midway and we headed right for the border to Indiana. I could not think of a better way to start my vacation. There's a wide selection at Three Floyds, both of beer (theirs and others) and food. I tried a flight and a few other beers with my pals. Overall I liked the Zombie Dust (probably their most popular beer) but Wigsplitter was by far the best of the beers I tried (an oatmeal stout brewed with espresso). As far as food, we shared the cheese curds (very tasty) and I ordered the brisket tacos (amazing). A few things did slightly bother me. One, the flight was pre-chosen. I get that they want people to try certain beers and usually I don't mind if there's a flight offered of flagship beers. However in this case, when I see a list of 20 or so beers available, it would be nice to be able to choose myself. Another thing that was annoying (in more of an eye-roll way) was the fact that the purchase of bottles to-go has to be made separately and can't be added on to dine-in food and beer purchases. Both were only a mild inconvenience (and may be due to local liquor laws, I'm not sure). Don't worry, the pros more than outweigh the cons. The beer and food itself was better than I hoped, even with high praise from friends. (I don't usually think I'll be blown away by brewpub food but seriously, those brisket tacos!) The service was friendly and helpful when I had questions. And even though I expected a wait, we were seated almost immediately. I didn't feel the food and/or beers were overpriced at all given our level of satisfaction. And had I not wanted to bring a few brews home the con of having to wait in another line for bottles to-go would not have even made it on my radar. The overall quality of everything at Three Floyds measures up to the hype. read more

AMAZING beer. Good food. But... rude service from the man in the store. He tried to rush us along, was incredibly reluctant to bring out any of the shirts to show us (told us there was a line that we were holding up.. a line of 2 people.. give me an effing break dude), and was way rude. Correct me if I'm wrong, but since paying customers are what is keeping you in business, perhaps you should be a hell of a lot nicer to them? read more

I'm so very torn about this review. The beer was great, the service was bad. Maybe that is just their schtick. We go there about 15 minutes before they opened and there was a huge line at the door....30 people or so. When they went to open the door they host said he could only let a couple people in at a time because the wait staff and bartenders can't handle a rush of people. I'm sorry I've worked in food service enough...if you can't handle 30 people the staff needs better training. After getting in and asking questions of the staff seemed like we were bothering them. Having said that the beer was great. I had a Zombie Dust and a Moloko Milk stout. Both were great. They were all I could have imagined and more. So I'd suggest going, but just know the service sucks, but the beer is good. read more

When I was visiting Chicago, I was told that my Pacific Northwest taste buds would love this Chicagoland brewer. So when my boyfriend had a business trip in Indiana I decided to tag along. For me -- the bar had a very in the middle of no where type of feel (which it was!), but the food said otherwise. I was very pleasantly surprised by the "gourmet" selections. We ended up getting their mac and cheese, Pastrami, and Free Range burger. The food was very good. From the pictures of other Yelpers -- I would love to explore menu items. My boyfriend (a beer enthusiast) along with the help of the bartender did an amazing job at helping me pick out beers I would like (the more hop,the better!). After lunch we went to pick up a case of beer. Their Zombie Dust (which I hear is a very sought after beer and sells out within an hour) just got done being bottled minutes before we arrived. Snagged a bottle and took our beer and full stomachs back to Chicago! read more

Really fun brewpub with amazing food and unique beers. Definitely have to get past the heavy metal music that they play, but quality makes up for it. I tried the 25 million dollar man and Lazermouth. Both. Really tasty beer and bold with tons of flavor. The biggest surprise here is that the food is super gourmet. We got cheese curds, wings, and dumpling. But these aren't bad food here. They are works of art. The wings have a coffee dry rub which was mixed with something sweet, the cheese curds have a kimchi aioli on them which complemented well, and the dumplings were also made with high quality ingredients and presented on a wood board. Finally, the tour was really fun and the servers were nice. read more

I LOVE YOU THREE FLOYDS! With that being said....I came here after a night of drinking at the Skylark that left me hungover. I was hungry, it was crappy out and I had a pounding headache. The place was cold and I was not feeling it. In fact, I only had one beer, but sipped others. I've had most of the Three Floyds beers anyhow..........but after looking at their menu and talking to my friend (who used to be a beer buyer and is now a wine buyer) I've determined I need to come back to try some of those! The food here was DELICIOUS. We ordered a cone of fries and went for all of the sauces. The horseradish one and the chipotle, maybe, were soooo good. I don't even like horseradish! The brown mustard, or whatever mustard was too intense for my liking. DID NOT LIKE, but that's ok because the other 3 people I was with did. I ordered the mac and cheese. OHMYGOD. It came out with baked cheese dripping down the side. The people at the next table asked if that's what it was and seemed excited as they had ordered it too. It's not your typical mac and cheese as it's made with egg-type noodles and a creamier alfredo-looking sauce, but, it wasn't alfredo and it was delicious. I was full, but because the kid didn't come take my little bowl away I kept eating it. SO FILLING. SO GOOD. The football game was on the wall next to us via a projector. It was pretty sweet, actually. Not that I watch football, but if it was another sport I would have really enjoyed it. Good thing my friends (that I convinced to drive) knew how to get here because it really is down some random road.....not to mention it had snowed quite a bit so the road could have easily been passed up. I don't remember what my boyfriend ate, but it was a sandwich and it was REALLY good. I debated getting it, but the mac was calling my name. My friends split a pizza that looked awesome. Figured this was the perfect review for my 500th yelp. Three Floyds is a beer drinkers wet dream. I was able to make it here for Dark Lord Day 2009. During what was an outstanding day of drinking and music, I was also able to get into the brew pub for some great drinks and amazing service. Just a hop, skip, and jump over the Indiana border is the gold mine known as Three Floyds. We were fortunate enough to get to go here on a weekday, which was perfect- decent crowd but tons of empty tables so there was no wait. Service was great too! Three Floyds had been on my radar for years, and I'd been wanting to go all that time. Now that I know how easy it is to get to, I might just be going there a little bit more often! We came around lunch time with an appetite for beer and food. I'd always heard how good the food is, and it did not disappoint. We ordered the fried cheese curds and the buffalo popcorn as appetizers. The curds were large and plentiful, and of course delish. They were served with this house-made mustard that was dijon-y and a little bit cinnamon-y??, and I thought it was fantastic. The buffalo popcorn was also amazing- it had buffalo and celery salt sprinkled on it and was a great treat. The portion was good sized, and we were able to take some home. We also ordered the basil pesto pizza which was large, with thick, juicy tomato chunks, great flavor and a cracker crust. I would come back for the food alone! They always change up the menu, too, so there's more incentive to come back! I was interested in trying a flight, which they did offer, but it was preset and was the "regular" beers you can usually find locally/at the liquor store - Gumballhead, Alpha King, etc, so I didn't find that appealing. They do serve tons of other beers that are only available there. The Fraggo was my favorite- a lighter beer with a mild strawberry zip to it. It was probably one of the best beers I've ever had. Alpha Kong was strong, and citrusy as well. I didn't really have any bad beer-tasting experiences, even though I'm not the hugest beer fan, so that was pretty significant in my book. They do have a lot of IPAs though, which wasn't my thing. The brewpub itself is full of character- they play movies, have tons of unique art pieces, and have mounted tap handles everywhere. LOTS of visual interest as well. They have a 'to-go' beer area where you can purchase a few options, but again, it was the same things I see locally, with one that was different. The line moved quickly. I enjoyed the big signs that said "NO ZOMBIE DUST", which apparently shows what they are endlessly asked about. Check online because the beers/food/sale items change frequently! read more

Finally made it to the Floyds. This beer is tough to find, but always good when found. Coming here to pay homage to the 3 Fs was worth the trip for me as we got to sample several or their offerings. Pro Tip: They might not offer flights, but you can order half-pints which allows you to sample more and retain your palette. They have about 15 house drafts, and another 10 or so guest drafts, plus a decent bottle selection. I enjoyed the Yum Yum, Alpha King, Gumballhead and Zombie Dust. The Backmasking was strong but pretty good. The War Mullet was just okay in my opinion (it grows on you as you drink it). The Chevalier and Pear Bear are sours and worth a small sample. The food menu is pretty good with lots to choose from. I had the cubano sandwich which was great with tasty fries that are dusted with cheese (talk about yum yum). My friend had the pulled chicken sandwich and seemed to enjoy it. They have 6 packs and bombers of different beers for take away, and believe me, you will be carrying some out. Now I just hope I can fit all of this in my luggage and they make it safely home so I can share some 3Fs love with my friends. read more

9/15 3pm I'm from Chicago. With that said three floyds....I can get your beers and eat amazing upscale bar food a lot of places in this city. With that said. We trucked it all the way to Munster. I've been a fan of the beer for a while and thought It's my birthday weekend I'm taking off work and going, early to get a tour, eat some eats and have some drinks. When we arrived I was stoked almost like a kid arriving at Disney Land. I couldn't wait to take the tours they advertised on the website and seeing what this place was all about. I could only imagine the BAD A** time I was going to have. First thing a saw was a line under a sign that said "get some" at first I assumed that's where people were lining up for the tour. Eh nope. There was a man at the door with a clip board and because the website said the tours start at 3:30 we assumed putting our names on his list was our in. From what it seems we got lucky because I hadn't finished my cigarette and they already had called our name. When I asked the "host" about the tour he said he'd get back to us. Our server was the icing on the cake =/ Red head (gingery) Very quiet, Very not personable. She had a pin up shirt which I thought was adorable. Rushed our table we asked for a coke to cool down before we started in on some beers....(NO COLA @ THREE FLOYDS FYI) I opted for a ginger ale. Just drank a bit and looked over the menu. Nothing to appetizing...I really wasn't excited about anything on the food menu. We ordered the Beef Jerky to start and honestly I was quite scared...and I do have to say the Jerky was PHENOMENAL. I'm still talking about it. I'd drive back just for it. And I definitely recommend it. My gf got the pulled pork I got the short rib burger. meh. we barely ate half of it. our server non existent, we flagged her so many times I just wondered what she was up to... We ordered four beers mentol, Calumet Queen, busyboyz, and my personal fave gumball head. Beers super phenomenal. I don't know what we were thinking about ordering desert after our meal was such a horror show...but we were curious about the Robert The Bruce Icecream, it's unfortunate they force you to buy the blueberry crumble with it. Because STAND ALONE the robert the bruce ice cream is GREAT. The not so great blueberry crumble takes away from the awesomeness of the ice cream. The biggest nightmare was the amarillo hops creme brulee. It was completely inedible, SOOOO HOPPY, so bitter nothing that a creme brulee should be. I unfortunately had to turn it back to the kitchen because I couldn't get passed one spoon full. When I told the server I didn't like she said "are you not into hops?" no I am that's why I'm here and that's why i ordered this...some things should not be food and that definitely is not it... Here's some suggestions for you Three Floyds.... 1. Asking people if it's their first time at your bar. 2. Asking if they are there for the tour. 3. Server describing the beer to you as they drop it to your table. "You have the calumet queen this is brewed with..." 4. A menu that isn't competing with your beer. You guys have an amazing product with a pretentious food menu upstaging what really is one of the best beers in the mid west. Your servers MUST be full of knowledge working at a great brew pub like yours... it's be nice to hear some cool facts and learn more about three floyds or even have a beer suggestion..."If you liked gumball head you'd love.....fill in the blank" Maybe our server ruined it. Or maybe I should have spoken up. But I was extremely disappointed. and I'm giving you three stars just because I love your beer. read more

How to write this review? Beer or the pub area? Hmmm? If this were for the beer only it would be 6 stars. I've drank a few craft beer in my day and this place does it the best. The Zombie Dust is awesome, but I favor the Alpha King.... but no matter what your pleasure, if they offer it, it will be some of the best you've Had. Now for the pub area, we went on Sunday afternoon, had to wait 45 minutes for a table, but this is 3 Floyds so its worth it. We did get seated. in the time promised. But the service was rushed, the waitress was not friendly at all. When you asked her a question she would rapid fire off an answer and walk off. The place is like walking into a heavy metal bar, which is ok if you like that kind of thing, its not me obviously, but they play the music way too loud. (I know if it's too loud you're too old.) We had to almost shout to hear each other. The menu is very eclectic and for the area, a little over priced. We had a couple of appetizers and a couple of beers and went to eat somewhere else. If you haven't been then you have to go for the beer, but I'm not making a return trip. read more

Very disappointed. I'm from Los Angeles. I visit my boyfriend monthly out in Chicago monthly and really love 3 floyds beer. I've been wanting to visit this place for months, but was warned the weekends and evening were bad because it's busy and over crowded, so ventured out on a Monday, early afternoon. Walked in and headed to the bar. Didn't see a host/hostess. Sat down.. And looked at the menu. The hostess approached us at this point insisting on our IDs. I'm 32, I look 20.. I never get upset about getting my ID checked, but I guess I just expected her to be polite about it. The beers are GREAT. Customer service was not. I wish someone was there to guide though the beers and at least suggest a beer. I don't want to spend time complaining about the unfriendliness. The retail store seemed a bit overpriced. Go here for beer, get your fix and move on. The service I would expect from a pretentious bar in LA, not a local brewery in Indiana. Be more humble, I expected more from the wonderful people of the Midwest. read more

So don't even know where to start. There was a million things with this place that just don't seem to match up like whom serves duck confit ramen at a death medal brewery, or Piriogies???? Seriously. I was hyped to try the beers, granted they all tasted simple and bland but good quality not life changing or worthy of the distance to travel to Munster for a visit. The place is set up like an old Applebee's in an industrial work area. Feels too pub/LIKE.....what happened to just a great brewery. If you're a brewery fan and this is on your list stop thru other than that no reason to stop in unless you want a cheap shirt or some bottles to go. PS don't bother asking what hops or grains or malt is in the beers the bartenders claim they are not told what's in the beers or that's just lovely. Useless I knowledgeable cicerones lol read more

SO WORTH THE DRIVE! Drove in from the Chicago burbs on a Sat. afternoon. Arrived around 2pm. The wait was approx. 45 min (ended up being an hour). I wish I knew that you could put yourself on the waitlist on the Three Floyds yelp page when you get close (probably would have saved us 15-20 min.). A lot of people wait in the parking lot, or you can probably find another pub nearby, but there's not much in the area. We also spent about 15 min. waiting in line to buy merch + cases to-go in the side shop. My boyfriend and I aren't huge on strong, hoppy beers which is what Three Floyds is known for, but the bartender was super helpful and gave us a few amazing options. First we had War Pigs Salmon Pants (one of the lightest), next was Gumballhead and third was Lazur Snake. All three were so good and I have since ordered them at bars in Chicago. Food was SO GOOD. The Cheese Curds with Kimchi were really tasty, but too large for 2 people unless that's all you're eating. The Mac n Cheese was some of the best we've ever had. The cheese sauce was very light, the chorizo wasn't too greasy or salty and the poblanos..well who doesn't love those. We finished with a burger n fries.. Pretzel bun for the win! Everything was seasoned & cooked to perfection. read more

If you know the quality of beer Three Floyd's produces, anything less than 5 Stars is a crime. I bought a great selection of brews at rock bottom prices to take back to Indianapolis. I am extremely happy about this. I couldn't stop saying "I AM SO EXCITED" in the parking lot. Brb, gonna go have a Gumballhead. read more

Man, I LOVE the beer here. LOVE! But the combination of waiting forever and sub par service really grinds me down. This time, I went to grab some of my beloved Zombie Dust and get some grub but the brewpub is under construction so the grub part was just a cookout. A good cookout, but a cookout nonetheless. I also wanted to get a flight and I was DENIED (not really sure why), the menu is really small because I'm pretty sure there isn't a kitchen at the moment, and the usual metal/horror film/rock vibe just wasn't there today. Some good things about the trip: 1. Got a case of Zombie Dust. HELL YES. 2. Tried two new beers: The Lawless ESB (carmelly and lightly malted taste and bitter finish...good hop aroma too) and Mutiny & The Mollusk (Oyster Stout collab with Half Acre...nice strong espresso-y flavor with a sweet finish. Didn't taste briny or oystery, but sweeter than a regular stout. It also has somewhat of a hoppy bite to it.) 3. My beer left a smiley face on the table and made me turn my frown upside down. (It's the little things in life that make me happy sometimes. Lay off me.) read more

3 Floyds Brewing - The 3 Floyd's miracle. Yes, I am aware that it is not the face of Jesus. - Breweries Near Me - Munster, Indiana

I'm not a super religious man, but I do pray three times a day while pointed toward Munster, IN. OK, sacrilegious jokes aside, this is a must-see destination for any beer lover. Anyone who knows anything about Three Floyds knows how good all of their products are. So it's a blast to be able to visit the source -- and walk away with a bunch of their beer. I recently made my third visit here, which isn't an easy thing to do if you don't live in the area. Three Floyds is in the middle of an industrial park in Munster, IN, so it's not exactly a hotbed of activity or some place you would just happen to come across. You have to make the effort to get there. Luckily, it's worth it. The brewery and the restaurant have both expanded since I last visited a few years ago, but the vibe -- think heavy metal meets comic book store -- remains the same. I've had the burgers and pizza, and both were very good. This time I tried the hot chicken sandwich, and man were they not kidding about the hot part. I have an extremely high tolerance for spicy foods, but I could barely finish this because it was so blazing hot. The good news is there was so much delicious beer to wash it down. Most varieties of Three Floyds you can think of are usually on tap, including the famous Zombie Dust. The best part of the brewery, however, is the carry-out window where you can order cases of their stuff. It depends on what they have available, so make sure to check before coming. I left this time with two cases of Gumball Head (two case per person limit, $40 each) and have filled up my trunk other times. Service has always been friendly despite the punk aesthetic but get here early, especially on a weekend as the place fills up fast. We got there this time shortly after they opened at 11 am. By 12:15 there were several people waiting outside for a table. read more

I've heard a good amount of negative comments about this place. "They have their heads so far up their @sses" and "I've never met such smug people in my life." So, perhaps I had really low expectations going here. I've also heard its impossible to get a table on a Saturday or Sunday, so my husband and I waited until we both had a weekday off to go for lunch and beers. Of course, the place was packed, even for a Monday. We had a "short" wait of a half hour...but whatever. We certainly weren't going to drive all the way back to Naperville. The host was nice and our server was nice. I don't know why people say these guys are smug jerks, because they were nothing but friendly and helpful. My husband and I each got the Hesat Burger and shared a side of Sweet Potato Poutine. The Hesat Burger was insanely delicious. We both ordered our patty med-rare, and it was a bit more on the med side, just FYI. But it was juicy and flavorful, without being overly greasy. There was an adequate of bleu cheese and toppings...except for the pancetta. It was a small little fried slice, I would barely constitute it as an item that should be named on the menu as a featured topping. They shouldn't skimp on it next time. The sweet potato poutine has goat cheese and sausage gravy on it. I know, a weird combo, right? But just order it! It was one of the most memorable dishes I've eaten in the past year. My husband and I both said that we wish we would've ordered one for each of us, instead of sharing it, because it wasn't really big enough to be shared. But hot damn, we cleared that plate so fast, like it was the last time we'll ever eat it. I would HIGHLY recommend it, because you'll never eat anything like it anywhere else. Despite how delicious everything was, we were still a little hungry...or maybe we were just intrigued by the menu, I don't know. But we ordered the chicharron nachos. My hubby looooooved this, while I did not. It was just fried pork rinds with a dollop of guac, some crumbled cheese, and some pico de gallo. I think the chicharron had zero flavor, and it was clear that the guac on top was from a pouch, not freshly made. There was barely any cheese. I dunno, I just wasn't impressed. I would not order it again. I saw a couple pizzas go by, to other tables. They did not look like anything special. They looked like a prepackaged Freschetta. Just sayin'. We both ordered a Zombie Dust (obv), and it was delicious as usual. He ordered a Blot Out The Sun, and I was eyeballing it the entire time. He gave me one sip, and I was sold. I wished I hadn't ordered the Pride and Joy, which was just ok. If you go there shortly after reading this, I implore you, get the Blot Out The Sun! In all, we enjoyed our experience there. The burgers and poutine were excellent. It was "fancy" bar food I guess, but I didn't drive an hour to have a bacon cheeseburger. This place is rated, by many, as the best brewery in the world, so they should definitely have a good pub menu to please those who travel. The beers will not fail you, period. If they do, then you suck at drinking beer. read more

Amazing beer. Great food. Very diverse menu. Excellent music. Play bad movies and classic cartoons. Just hard to get in!

We had a couple of beers and cheese curds. My daughter had a peanut butter brownie cake with strawberry dark lord sorbet. She loves it, we didn't. The beers were okay. read more

Get here early and get the burger. You'll make it in time for the brewery tour, don't you worry, you just have to be willing to wait in line if it's hot or cold. The brewery tour is short. Shorter than any brewery tour I've been on, and that's been a lot. While I was happy with the short tour, as I'm certainly well-versed on how beer is made, I think some people may have gotten the shaft. However, the tour was FREE, so I get it. We had a seat saved just for us for lunch after the tour. +1 -1. Now... what I'm about to say might stir some people up, but just hear me out. 3FFF's is known for some loud ass metal music, but I don't need to hear screeching so loud as I can't even hear myself chew. At one point, a song wasn't even playing, it was just a loud pitched noise that sounded as if the system has broken for 10 minutes-- no joke. Kill the noise a little--just by a decible or two. THE BURGER. GET THE BURGER. Oh boy, was their meat patty delicious. It has bacon, some cheese, and bernaise sauce I believe. All beer is $5, some 6 ounces, some 12--so keep that in mind if you're driving on a 10% alcohol buzz :) read more

Three Floyds is first and foremost a Brewery. While the beer is the main attraction their kitchen does not disappoint. I try to make it my business to visit Three Floyds at least two times a year. One of my friend arranges a pilgrim annually that I always go to and the other is for the Dark Lord weekend. Since this is not a review on Three Floyds Beer I will leave that as an exercise to the reader to purchase Three Floyds brew at your next trip to a specialty store, I will focus on the food. The food is not your typical pub grub. Three Floyds seem to be shooting after the Gastro Pub experience without the London prices that are usually come with it. Despite having a fantastic assortment of beers I always fondly remember the omnivore pizza long after I have left Munster, IN. As the reviewer Johnny B points out, the beer is strong so have a designated driver, rent a bus, or else -well, we always have one these options above on trips here. Failure to do this could result in a free ride with IN or IL's finest. read more

Great Beer...(most important)...Great Vibe...Great Service. Only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that they were playing vinyl...HEAVY METAL...VERY LOUD. Hard to talk, heck even hard to even think for yourself. Tone it down and this will be a 5 star. read more

I love this place with all of my heart. I am in Chicago 7 times a year and go to Three Floyds just about, seven times a year. If you love beer, you can not help but appreciate just how truly special this place is. This is my favorite brewery making my favorite beers. No, they are not some one trick pony, all of their beers are consistently unique and so delicious. The staff is the genuine article. Knowledgeable, friendly and really nice to speak with. I am so happy for these guys and believe they deserve all of the accolades and attention they are receiving. read more

I was finally able to eat here on our way home from Chicago! I was so excited to try the brisket tacos that my husband has raved about for ever only to find out they were no longer on the menu. Instead of the brisket tacos I ordered the spare ribs and as much as I wanted to love them I was extremely disappointed. They were so fatty that most of it was not edible. In fact one of the 4 or 5 chucks was just all fat. Thank goodness I had ordered the whitefish as an appetizer- it was served cold which was weird at first but it had a nice smokey flavor. I also stole a cheese curd from our friend's order and it was good too. Ultimately, I'm giving it 4 stars because they have awesome beer and I'm keeping my hopes alive that the next time I'm there they will have brisket tacos again. read more

A little late on the review but we had (another) amazing experience at Three Floyds earlier this summer. It's no wonder they've been placed as the best Indiana brewery on multiple online lists. We went in on a Tuesday for lunch since we knew it can get pretty busy other times and we were seated really quickly and served quickly as well. I tried a few new beers I hadn't had which included the Necron 99, Space Station Middle Finger, and another that I can't remember.. regardless, I loved them all. Add them to the list of tons of other great beers that Three Floyds makes. I was surprised by the quality of the food at Three Floyds. I expected normal brewery food but it was like brewery gourmet. We ordered a plate of fried cheese curds (nice and squeaky) that were drizzled with a delicious sauce and decorated with peppers - they disappeared quickly. We also ordered a basket of jerky which came out warm! I've never been served warm jerky and it was amazing - highly recommend if you are a meat lover. On top of that, we had a Flammkuchen pizza and a patty melt. The pizza was the thing that least blew me away. It was good, but not quite the flavors I was looking for when I ordered the pizza. That said, I would still eat the whole thing again if you put it in front of me. Also, my mom devoured the patty melt. I didn't get a bite quick enough so I'm assuming it was great. The environment of the brewery was pretty great. There are interesting things all over to look at and they play actual vinyl records instead of a playlist which made me like them even more. My only complaint is that there weren't seats that were distanced from speakers so it was hard to hear each other, which makes it difficult to bring older people. Our servers name was Tim and he was the best. He was constantly making sure we had everything we needed but also gave us the distance to enjoy our food and each other without being bothered. He had awesome food recommendations and answered all of our questions about the menu. Great experience. Excited to move back to Illinois soon so I can go to Three Floyds all the time! read more

The food and beer were excellent. We sampled BBQ beef jerky and the sourdough toast. The jerky was a redefinition of beef jerky for everyone involved; we purchased two extra orders to go. The sourdough toast was something new and different. The whipped feta cheese spread was a delightfully tangy accoutrement to the unexpectedly unique BBQ topping. Zombie Dust draughts finished everything nicely. There is one small dent that isn't worthy of docking a star: there was a zombie slasher film playing on the TVs. It was very graphic and bloody and I did not want my four year old watching it. I asked Megan, the hostess, if we could turn one of the TVs off. She curtly replied that the TVs could not be turned off as a matter of restaurant policy, and offered no other help in the matter. We also asked if we could change our seats to another area away from the TVs and she said no. I found her demeanor rude and inconsiderate. Our server, Melanie, on the other hand, immediately helped us out and found a manager who was willing to change what was on the TV to something more family friendly. Ironically, shortly thereafter, 2 more families with small children arrived to eat. Melanie was awesome and a great waitress. read more
