Unfortunately LAAS is a broken system just like the entire animal control/care system is, across the state, nation, world...no one cares about these guys because they don't turn a profit sadly. They do their best (well, some staff...not upper management) and there are lots of cute doggos that don't deserve to be here, and sadly deteriorate just from being sent to dog prison. LAAS at least has adoption discounts constantly, just about every weekend, so there's no excuse not to adopt from the system versus getting an inbred dog with health issues for thousands of dollars. Lots of them end up back here after 1 to 2 years old it seems. And if you can't adopt, volunteer! Dog walking is the best escape from LA.

They offer cat carriers for you to borrow if you need one and they also will send you home with a starter kit if needed (some food and litter) The staff here is very friendly and you can tell the cats here are well taken care of and loved. As someone who has only ever rescued pets, being told that I'm somehow not suitable for one of "their" dogs was honestly laughable. I fully understand that rescues need to screen adopters and make decisions based on what is best for each animal. What I experienced here, however, left me with very little confidence that their process is as fair or objective as they claim. I'm also deeply uncomfortable with their practice of pulling cocker spaniels from shelters before those dogs ever have an opportunity to become available for adoption to the general public. There is something incredibly frustrating about watching a rescue take dogs out of the public shelter system, only to make adopting those same dogs feel unnecessarily restrictive. Rescue should be about getting animals into safe, loving, permanent homes--not creating an exclusive gatekeeping process around animals that desperately need them. Unfortunately, my experience with this organization left me questioning whether its priorities truly align with that mission. Social media visibility and fundraising have become such a prominent part of modern rescue culture that transparency and accountability matter more than ever. I feel most sorry for the beautiful animals caught in the middle of it. They deserve loving homes, and I sincerely hope every one of them eventually gets one. Based on my experience, I would absolutely recommend looking elsewhere if you're hoping to adopt.

I saw an advertisement for a Maine Coon kitten on the adopt a pet website which redirected me to Purrfect Solutions website, I sent an email to establish my interest in Meadow, the kitten. The initial response I got was to ask where I lived and if I would be okay with a site visit, to which I responded with my location and that I had no issues with a site visit. The next message I received dismissed me whole cloth, stating that Meadow was to be adopted with another kitten there, something that was not on the website or in the initial email message from Pat. The dismissal was terse and unprofessional. It was this message dismissing me whole cloth after initially asking if I would be okay with a site visit and where I lived that my opinion was formed. This woman dismissed me because I don't live in a majority white area and my last name is Spanish. I actually brought this up to her, in a follow up email expressing my concern. She did not deny it, instead speaking in coded language that these kittens had come from the "PITTS OF LA" and that she had received interest from people in "SANTA MONICA, MALIBU, SAN DIEGO, AND THE PALISADES." I do not live in a bad area, it is a nice valley suburb, I have a professional degree and steady income. But in my opinion I believe I am not sufficiently white enough or live in a sufficiently white enough area for Pat. If you know anyone looking to adopt a fur companion please consider this place. Finding the facility is a little difficult to find as there's no signage detailing where the business is, but the address is legible outside of it. There's metered parking in the front of the building. Be aware that most of the meters do not function which means, you can still park there anyway. Samantha was our host for our in house event today and she set up the play area and cleaned up any puppy "messes" rapidly along the way. She was very kind and supervised with so much care for my children and those adorable pups. The pups had lots of toys to choose from, water bowls and were just so lovely. If my place allowed animals - I'm sure we would have taken one home! My kids ENJOYED their time and fell in love with these 5 sweet and energetic puppies!!!
