I was extremely disappointed with my experience with Adrienne at the cat connection rescue. I had applied to adopt one of their rescued kittens and had provided all the necessary details in my application, including the gender and age of my adult cat at home. However, Adrienne still got the facts wrong, which showed that she wasn't really paying attention to the details on the application. The reasons she denied my application were that she thought my "12-year-old" adult cat was a girl and that it would be difficult for a female cat of this age to accept a new kitten. However, I corrected her that my adult cat is actually a 10-year-old boy and that I had babysat a kitten for my friend while they were away, and my cat was totally fine. He grew up with other animals while he was in foster care, and he is very chill. To make matters worse, she accused me of planning to separate the kitten from my cat if they didn't get along and claimed that she didn't want the kitten to live like that for the rest of its life. I explained to her that I was just responding to the question as my first initial thought of what I would do if they don't get along and started harming each other. The space on the application to answer certain questions is very limited and she took it literally!... like really LITERALLY.... I even told her I would of course try other things, like slowly introducing them again, discussing with the vet about behavioral issues, and reassuring her that I'm serious about the adoption and once I adopt any cats, I do not give up on any of them. Still, in her opinion, I was not good enough for her. Despite all of my efforts putting in a lot of time filling out the application, following up with phone calls (which were never once answered or returned by the way), exchanging text messages, and even doing a Facetime call with the foster mom, there was still no formal interview process. You are being judged alone based on what you wrote in the application with very limited spaces for each question. And she didn't even get all the facts right. During our text exchanges, I tried to remain calm and polite, even when Adrienne made unprofessional/absurd comments such as, "This is not the only Siamese kitten." That got me thinking do you actually want people to reach out to you to adopt your cat(s) or not? Because with this kind of comment, it sounds like you do not. I even explained to her that I understood but we (my partner and I) just fell in love with this kitten when we saw his photo on Petfinder and really would love to adopt him. I also explained that I have had three cats before, all of which were rescued and had pet insurance to cover vet expenses, and that they were always kept indoors. I also subscribe to pet emergency funds for emergency situations. She told me "Let me get back to you" and never actually did. In fact, I never heard from her again. Not even an update if the kitten is still available or being adopted already. Additionally, I saw in one of her responses to someone's review here that she said "I would never turn down a good home." Well, she did, and in a most unprofessional and absurd way. I ended up rescuing another kitten from a city shelter and the kitten gets along with my adult cat JUST FINE. Based on my experience, Adrienne's comments and opinions were unprofessional and rude. While I appreciate the admirable work that Cat Connection Rescue does for their rescues, I hope that they will improve their communication and attention to detail for potential adopters in the future. That being said, I would not recommend adopting through this shelter. The experience is less than pleasant and turns people's good intentions, something worth celebrating for all parties, into such a stressful and disappointing one. One thing Adrienne was right about; this is "not the only Siamese cat", in fact, this is not the only rescue that you can adopt from. So take her advice and don't waste your time. Go somewhere else. Unless you are someone who is "qualified" and capable of providing a "good home" in "her opinion", you won't be able to adopt any cats from her. Seeing all these negative reviews... I'm extremely disappointed with CatConnection more so with the owner Adrienne. I was inquiring about adoption a kitten or a bonded pair so she made me fill out an application. She then sent me an email (which had VERY demeaning undertones) about me capability of feeding a kitten on a schedule and questions about a vaccine I gave my cat. I guess I mistook the name of a vaccine for another and was quick to explain my fault. This wasn't enough for Adrienne. She continued to ask me very open ended questions with very biased opinions. I obviously kept my professionalism and Adrienne did not. Vaccine regulations are different from state to state. In the state of California, no vaccines are actually required but are strongly recommended. Where I originated, core and rabies vaccines were required annually. It is your responsibility as a pet parent to talk to your vet and learn what's best for your cat for where you live and your situation. Adrienne questioned my reasoning for giving my cat the rabies vaccine if he doesn't go outside. Knowing that rabies is 100% fatal to cats with no treatment available...as a good cat parent, I'd do anything preventative to protect my cats health. I'm not sure how cats get adopted and from reading the other reviews I'm not the only one who feels this way. With the way Adrienne's privilege and unprofessionalism prevents cats from going to living homes, I'm surprised this business is still running. It's also quite obvious that Adrienne can't take criticism or alternate opinions through her replies to the negative comments. Instead of responding to issues efficiently, she's quick to defend herself. I personally don't feel comfortable adopting from a place with such negative energy and I would strongly advise to adopt from somewhere that is warm, welcoming and treats their adopters and cats with respect. read more

I've both fostered and adopted through them, and it's so apparent that the best interest of the cat is considered above anything else. Adrienne was wonderful and really worked with us to find the right fit - both for us and for our cat Walter who had gone from being one of 5 cats when he joined our family to suddenly becoming a solo cat when the last older cat passed. The woman who runs this place (Adrienne) is not nice. She is not a kind and loving soul, as you may assume. Shes also not business savvy or profession, the way you may hope. She is extremely disorganized, rude and accusatory. I reached out to inquire about 1 cat & she responded & made me fill out an app. The second i did, she said the kitten was taken already. Then why did you make me do that? Then when discussing other cats she said that the cat was still available, but i needed to get him in a pair. Then she said he is not available again. Then she said he is, but xyandz. Every time i talked to her, her story changed 3 times. Every time i talk to her she asks if ive dome an application yet. She has no idea what is going on. It also like she is doing everything in her power to stop people from adopting her animals. No matter what you say - there is an issue: You dont work? You wont be able to pay for this pet. You do work? You wont spend any time with it. You work from home? It needs another furry companion. You have a cat already? Its too old. You have a dog? Thats not okay. You're getting a companion? You hould put animals together for 5 months and they may not get along. You have kids? Too rough, prefer a quieter home. Dont have kids? Cat will be bored. Oh and also she is super accusatory "all you people only interested because of the quarantine...just going to dump them all back out in few weeks" disgusting, rude, insulting. Also "you're all going back to work." My husband works from home full time. I work from home 2 days a week... she didn't even ask. She is supposed to be finding good homes for pets in need. Subsequent to adopting Wendy from Cat Connection, I had the opportunity via Cat Connection to foster Billy Bob -- a beautiful, black, 9 year old cat -- for a period of a little over 2 months, after which he was adopted by a family pledged to love him for the remainder of his days. I am writing this review to sum up my fostering experience with Adrienne and Cat Connection. The fostering process is simple: I took Billy Bob into my home, fed and lodged him. Although he missed out on having people view him at the shelter, his picture and story were posted on the Cat Connection Internet site. It is there that someone found him and adopted him. I took Billy Bob in on 5/28/17. On 6/13/17 I noticed a lump (cyst) on BB's lower left side. I informed Adrienne of this and she immediately made a convenient vet appointment at Beverly Oaks Animal Hospital, where Cat Connection is housed. I saw Dr. Chapman on 6/15/17. She was great! She examined BB, then drained the cyst, which was benign. Adrienne paid for this service. Later, Adrienne said that Billy Bob needed to have his teeth cleaned, and he had another cyst on his right rear side. Once again, Adrienne made an appointment for me. On 7/31/17 I took the cat in to Dr. Leach, who extracted 5 of Billy's teeth and, since he was already under anesthesia, removed the cyst. Dr. Leach said that Billy Bob's mouth stitches would dissolve, but that he needed to have the stitches at the cyst site removed in 14 days. The vet tech covered Billy Bob's cyst operation site with a bandage. Medications were issued, and I followed up by medicating him and going for his stitch removal. Cat Connection paid for all of this. I was really happy that Billy Bob was completely up to date health-wise, so that his new adoptive owners would not be burdened with any expenses. Cat Connection is very generous and really takes care of its animals. All vet techs and doctors at Beverly Oaks proved to be kind, competent, and caring. When Adrienne received a call from a family that wanted to "interview" Billy Bob, she called me and first offered BB to me. I said that I had enough cats at that point and that Billy should probably go to a loving home without so much competition. So, she asked if I wanted to bring him to Cat Connection to be shown, or if I wanted to show him at my house. I opted for my house, because Billy was used to it and I felt that was where he could best display his natural, outgoing behavior. The family came, interacted with Billy, then left. A few days later, Adrienne told me the family was adopting him, so I turned him back in to Cat Connection. The fostering opportunity was rewarding, and I still miss Billy Bob very much. Throughout my fostering period, Adrienne checked in on me periodically to see how everything was going. And, as mentioned, facilitated Billy's every medical need. Billy is doing fine in his new home. In conclusion, I want to say I have the utmost respect for Adrienne and the Cat Connection. I go there frequently to visit the cats, and Adrienne has proven a tireless, dedicated worker. Folks just don't know what a tremendous responsibility she has and how much she sacrifices for these cats. May God bless you, Adrienne. I've never left a review before but I had a very negative experience with this shelter. I emailed back and forth with Adrienne for a few days about a cat I was very interested in, submitted an app, did a zoom call with the foster, etc. Adrienne was condescending in her emails about some of my answers on the application and was not helpful at all in trying to set up a meet and greet with the cat. I had to ask a few times about getting an update about my application because I really wanted to meet and hopefully adopt this cat. Adrienne finally got back to me after a few days without contact and simply said they had "let the cat be adopted to a family with another cat". Adrienne was not professional at all in her handling of my application and getting back to me in a timely manner about a cat that I was really hoping to bring into my family. I definitely do not recommend this shelter if you're looking for a good adoption experience. read more

I have had a million questions about my cat and not only can she remember every little detail about every little cat, and Adrienne's got a great network of fosters to help. For adoption, this place is typical: pay a small fee and take your new adorable cat(s) home! For fostering, however, go elsewhere. There are many other organizations that will not only give you a formal training on what's expected of a foster (and caring for sick kittens and cats), but will actively support you by covering the vet bills, food and litter--such as the Best Friends Animal Society. They will also lead the charge with getting the cat(s) adopted quickly, involving you in the decision as much as you would like. So, when you do your research, be careful! There are a few groups that facilitate fostering, such as groups of idealistic--and potentially corrupt--individuals raising money on Facebook or Twitter to save cats from being killed at local shelters (with money raised by how much the others like a particular cat, rather than the money in general going to a pool; in the end, the foster of the saved cat doesn't see a dime of that, so where did the money go?!). And, these groups, though very informal, may claim to offer the same support as a brick and mortar organization. But, if my experience speaks any truth, I will tell that I was given a sick mother with three sick kittens from one of these Facebook groups and showed up at the "affiliated" vet where all bills were supposed to be covered only to be turned away unless I put my own credit card down. Fortunately, Cat Connection LA wasn't that group. BUT, there was a point in 2012 when I brought in my second foster cat (the one from CatCo, not the Facebook group) to the vet that CatCo works with, and the vet told me that this was the last visit CatCo was covering. (Further, I was supposed to receive financial support for the food and litter, but that stopped after the first three months--and my emails and phone calls to the funder were ignored.) For all intents and purposes, it seemed that, after about the first 6-12 months, CatCo had dropped this special needs cat on me without my permission. Fast forward a few years later, and my life required a hiatus from fostering (aka forced adoption). I hadn't heard from CatCo since 2012, so I figured that I was likely alone in my search for a temporary foster. But, surprisingly, after not hearing a word from Adrienne, my contact at CatCo, she responded to my request for help. She said finding a foster would be impossible, as it was kitten season and my estimated 3-6 month need was a bit long. But, she said she could board Harley for 3 months if needed; meanwhile, I found a foster who could commit to help, meaning Adrienne's offer became my contingency plan. She also told me that the vet who told me CatCo was no longer covering the cat's care was wrong, and that she assumed for the past 3 or 4 years that I had been bringing my cat, Harley (formerly known as Alexander) in for care (despite receiving no updates to his medical records or any bills indicating as much). She proceeded to colorfully blame me for believing the vet, after previously always saying, "Do whatever the vet wants. She's great. You can trust her." Anyway, given I could now bring Harley in and get his dental cleaning done on CatCo's dime, I dealt with her condemnation, focusing on the light at the end of the tunnel. Fast forward again, this time to my visit to the vet to get his comped check up. I speak to Adrienne to ask to get a test approved, and she says yes but then starts telling me she no longer wants to go along with my fostering plan, and instead I would have to adopt him that moment (and lose her boarding offer) or leave him there for good. She said she didn't want the "hassle" of dealing with the foster I found and didn't "trust" that they would care for the cat well. Yet, she's never met me in person and I became her foster without any training or vetting... and she hadn't contacted me in about FOUR YEARS to see how the cat was doing (though her vet verified I gave exceptional care to the point where he is off his meds). I questioned her change of heart, and she didn't like that one bit. She kept reiterating that she didn't care about her relationship with me, just about the cat and avoiding the hassle of a new foster. I told her I thought that the plan we had was the best--the cat stays in a home he knows (his foster is the person who has cat sit for me many times over the years) until I get settled again. I also reminded her that she wouldn't have known the difference had I not reached out to her after years of her never showing a dose of concern over his well-being. She had no response. In the end, I never saw the cat after he went back for his lab test. I told her I will adopt him after her change of heart, but now she won't let me. Worse yet, Beverly Oaks continues to work with her! Update: I heard my Harley has asthma from the anxiety of living with his new owner. All that I have now are tears and memories. Bottom line: Great for adoption and a temp no-kill home, but don't foster through CatCo. read more

I wish I could give negative 8 stars for this place. The lady on the phone I believe it was ADRIENNE, was off the bat incredibly rude for it to be 11am in the morning. I was asking simple questions and got passive aggressive sighs and answers that didn't match up to the question. For their oldest staff member to be the face of the company when answering phones, she lacks professionalism to the max. I had to call HER to find out I was denied for an application instead of her sending me email letting me know. If I never called I could've been waiting days for nothing. I've seen lemonade stands run by 6 year olds who have no math skills with more professionalism than ADRIENNE. They have a no outdoor policy which is not clearly stated anywhere which allows them to trick potential adopters into saying they would potentially be let outside. In my opinion a cat can be raised however the parent pleases as long as they're healthy and happy and well loved. If not stated clear in the policy ADRIENNE shouldn't have the audacity to fault people for marking their honest answer. I went elsewhere and adopted a kitty from a shelter that isn't run by snobby discriminative white women who take pleasure in making people feel less than. Im an adult and should not be talked to like I'm less than a child by someone who is providing ME with a service. The energy was overall disgusting and who would want to adopt a cat like that. If you're looking for a sweet adoption experience DO NOT EVEN CALL THEM. You'll be very disappointed. ADOPT FROM SECOND CHANCE LA they don't have nasty Adrienne's answering the phones. I had a cat that I needed to surrender due to a myriad of reasons. None that would be valid to fervent pet lovers I suppose but nonetheless in the best interest of my cat who was my companion for 17 years. The woman that answered the phone here literally was so judgmental and guilted me into keeping my cat cuz I was just a horrible person otherwise and even used the "f" word. Believe me, all was considered before having to make this call. Please note that being in this situation is never something anyone expects to do. All I ask is that no judgement be instilled. I truly believe the work Adrienne does here is beyond selfless. She is constantly dealing with people giving up there animals and truly cares about each individual cat. I had such a hard choice to part ways with my animal, and she made me aware of the consequences of my decision. I'm so happy she was able to take care of my baby until a family could take her in. And I would say if you can't handle the truth about what happens to these animals that's on you, but she goes out of her way to make sure these animals aren't euthanized. Completely unprofessional. I called to get help or information on other recommended organizations about cats that are living outside of my apartment but then got accused and yelled at instead of being provided resources to help with the cats. These are cats living on the streets not someones pet but instead of letting me speak continued to talk over me repeating the same questions that I could not answer as if I was a child. Didn't want to provide her name and said "I cant deal with you right now" and just continued to argue on the phone about how no one around will be able to help me only because I didn't have the answers that she wanted. I started fostering for Adrienne last year and haven't had any problems. She has been warm and communicative with me. Although I can see how people might have had bad experiences with her. Speaking from experience in assisting others with a non-profit, its not always easy doing these things. So sometimes you just need to give people the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes you just catch someone at a bad moment. That shouldn't stop you from willing to help, if its something that you believe in. Or stop you from adopting. The cats are well-taken care with this non-profit. The hospital is top notch and does great work in addressing medical issues with the cats to make them adoptable. There are a lot of great cats through this non-profit waiting for their forever homes. If you are looking to adopt, this is certainly one place where you can find a cat that will make you happy. As the cats are well-taken care of either in the foster setting or at the hospital. read more

Cat Connection does a lot to help the cat population in LA. It's such a sad story to hear over and over again about how a cat was found abandoned by their owner or left with a terrible injury at the hands of negligence. This group makes a point to improve the lives and chances for adoptable animals to find good quality homes. They're very picky about who they adopt to and I find that comforting because they're looking out for the best interest of the pet. (Some people are looking for accessories rather then pets and will return the animal for reasons as dumb as "not being able to take good instagram pictures") This group absolutely cares and invests everything into looking out for these orphaned animals. If you're looking to save a life and make a four legged friend (maybe a three legged one in my case)... then setup an appointment and come meet some incredibly loving and adorable family additions to your home. Worst experience ever. We drove over an hour to see the cat that we were interested in. Spoke with someone on the phone before we got there regarding our application and she advised us to come in. We finally got there and were turned away immediately because we sometimes (rarely) let our other cats on the patio with us on a leash. They said that we weren't allowed to do that with this one and we were immediately denied. Staff was extremely rude and clearly does not care if these animals got rescued or not. read more

Very well-respected rescue in the rescue community who have been around for many years. Their primary focus is on the cats. Period. Cats receive the best possible vet care and carefully screened adopters. If anyone is denied adoption it is for a good reason they may not necessarily agree with. I am actively involved with street rescue and trap-neuter-return in LA County where it's desperately needed (to the tune of 458 cats in 7 months) and Cat Connection is one of the few rescues always willing to help with often very expensive vetting for the street babies. They also help with placement of said street cats. My review is not one from the adopter's stand point, but from a stand point of what Cat Connection actually does for the community and the cat population in Los Angeles in general. They do what a true rescue should do - focus on the most difficult medical and street cats and make the biggest impact. Also, as a foster, I will say that when Adrienne makes a decision that the cat should stay at the vet, it is again, for the cat's welfare. No need to take it personally. To some of you this review will sound biased, but I assure you, that if you personally saw the enormous amount of care Cat Connection provides for the cats, the community, and their very well chosen adopters, you would understand. read more

Adrienne from Cat Connection went above and beyond for us when a senior cat was dumped in our family's backyard. The cat had extensive injuries due to our dog finding the cat before we did. Adrienne helped to get us rescue pricing at the vet she works with, get us an immediate appointment, helped us get donations for the cost of surgery, and checked in with us daily to see how the cat was doing. If it weren't for her amazing and quick efforts, this cat would not have been able to get the medical attention it needed. My fiance and I have been looking to adopt a cat or kitten for months but have just been taking our time trying to find the perfect companion. It was our anniversary yesterday and we ended up seeing a kitten that we were both interested in at Cat Connection. Getting excited about finally finding a new family member I gave them a call. A lady answers and I told her that I was interested in a certain kitten and was wondering if it was at their "shelter" so we could come take a look. Well I guess the word shelter was offending to her for some reason... Sorry I am not up to date on the lingo for rescues. She immediately seemed to change her mind and fired off "test" questions which I quickly failed. No I do not currently have another cat in the home which is what disqualified us. This whole trying to do a good thing and adopt a cat has become a nightmare because of people like this. I am about ready to just go to a breeder and buy.... Since there are so many other cats that are just being put down you would think they wouldn't be so bat sht crazy. Stay clear from these women!!! read more
