adopted my sweet baby boy from here a couple of years ago!! i met with his foster mom, met my baby boy and then it was instant love!! his foster mom informed me of the process on how to adopt him. as soon as he went to perry's place, i went there to spend some more time with him then took him home the same day! the process was smooth and the lady helping me was kind. she even showed us some other cats and kittens. when i came to perry's place, my boy cat was having an allergic reaction (nothing serious, just red patch of skin with fur missing in between his shoulder blades on his back), and the staff here informed me of it and pointed it out to me before i signed anything. they showed me the medical history and on it, they noted the flea medication that was used that caused this. i was super grateful for this since now i know which flea medication to not use and i was grateful it was brought to my attention when i was there still and before i signed anything/paid. i recommend adopting from here. whole process was smooth and all the cats are so cute. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to adopt a cat from here because I needed a therapy cat. I've been eyeing a cat named Azula on the availability list (I'm a big Avatar: The Last Airbender fan!) and the moment I met her in person, I fell in love. She's not a perfect cat as she's feisty, but she deserves loving and patience too! We've been told that she's a one household cat, but never knew the reason why. We've visited a second time because I was concerned about her binge eating out of boredom. Maybe to get her another friend? However, I know that you can't just simply adopt another cat and expect them to get along just like that. It's not the same way you can do with dogs. We asked questions with one of the workers about our experiences with her and asked if it's recommended to get another cat or not really. I can't remember his name, but he was very informative/helpful. He did his best to research and asked around -- Turns out Azula was placed at the very end of the hallway because she wasn't getting along with her kittens (Katara, Suki and Sokka) at all! So yes, her name fits her. We respected the decision of not getting another cat because of that issue and he recommend us a great store in Burbank to buy her toys to play with. I like that he didn't push us to get another one because he knows that it's not ideal for her. I really appreciate that the workers here know what they're doing and taking efforts into knowing the cats personally. I highly recommend this place to adopt. read more

I have only been to this location once (Aug 2023). We found this little girl named Honey, who was so tiny. She had already had four kittens when she arrived at Heaven on Earth/Perry's Place. Poor lass, with her kittens gone, she needed a home. We brought her home as a companion to the 3-year-old male we adopted in April. He needed company. So far, so good. At first, there was an issue at home, but all's well now. She is home to stay. We renamed her after the song for the 1953 movie called "Lili" with Leslie Carone and Miguel Ferrer. I have nothing but good things to say about Heaven on Earth Perry's Place. Had a very positive experience volunteering here, and at first, I told myself that even though I would almost certainly fall in love with numerous adorable cats & kittens, that I would not be taking another cat home with me. "Two cats are plenty!" And then I met my Charlie! He arrived with 3 other siblings plus Mama Kitty, but the kittens were separated from Mama pretty quickly after their arrival, and I wasn't sure why. However, Mama Kitty is ideally supposed to teach her kits while they're young so that they'll grow up to be well-adjusted cats who know how to hunt, play nicely - "Ouch! Not too hard! No biting!" how to groom themselves, proper litter box etiquette, etc. Perhaps the kittens were separated because of sickness? I know that my little Charlie was unwell for a couple weeks suffering with calicivirus and painful ulcers inside his mouth and down his throat. The wonderful, caring staff at Heaven on Earth Perry's Place diligently cared for Charlie, mitigated his pain, and nursed him back to health. Charlie received the same level of dedicated care that any cat in need at Perry's Place would receive. I praise Perry's Place for being the type of facility that anyone would feel comfortable and confident adopting a cat from. The building overall is clean and well-organized, and the cats are lovingly cared for. The building has several uniquely named & themed rooms that are divided by transparent (plexiglass?) walls so that the cats can safely check out the place and people walking around. Cats are placed in small-medium sized groups according to their age, personality type/typical energy level, any potential chronic medical issues (kidney disease, FIV, or FIP - I think?), level of sociability or shyness (there's even a separate room for friendly ferals!) etc. What more could one want from a feline sanctuary? I'm so blessed to have such a sweet, intelligent, personable companion in my life, and my friends adore Charlie Cat too; I'm so thankful for Perry's Place and the important work they do! read more

Just noticed the email about the new ED Leandra. I have volunteered & adopted animals from Perry's Place and had an amazing experience until I was the one that needed help. They let me adopt a cat with severe dental issues and when I asked for help to treat it the new ED had said behind my back that I should've never gotten the animal if I couldn't afford it. She said this to a friend I had in the organization. Unfortunately this was a very impactful experience and I'll probably never ask non profits for help again..sorry that my financial situation changed over the years I guess? I constantly get emails from Perry's Place begging people to foster animals and donate so I don't understand what gave them authority to judge me. I had to surrender my cat and although they took him back and rehomed him, I noticed that they were not happy about it. The girl who received him was so rude to me. I've also heard that they prefer "pretty cats" and often reject "ugly ones" from their rescue. I implore everyone to ask upfront questions about their organization and the cats if you're interested in adopting or volunteering. I think non profits should be held to a higher standard. read more

I got my kitty Theo (originally named Dale) from Perry's Place a few weeks ago and he's wonderful. As soon as I saw him I loved how playful and sweet he was. The staff was very patient with all my questions and explained his history to me. He has trauma and neglect from his previous situation so he was friendly with the other kitties but not trusting of people. As of now he's doing very well with my other cat. He loves to play with string toys and explore the house as long as it's not too loud. He is still quite shy but loves being pet at mealtime. I volunteered at Perry's place during the COVID-19 pandemic. My work encouraged us to volunteer as part of our corporate responsibilities to our communities. I went to about 8 Sundays where I played with cats for 2 hours each time. A lot of cats in the facility need human interaction to build trust and be more "adoptable" so they can eventually find a forever home. Perry's Place use to be open to the public, but due to the pandemic. They have placed many precautions. To become a volunteer, you have to complete training and abide by rules to prevent infection (such as wearing mask, hand washing, maintaining 6 feet apart while in the facility). Currently they limit the number of people who interact with the cats - only staff, fosters, adopters and volunteers. Many of the cats want to play or be petted, but it's very hard to give them all attention. There's about 60-80 cats/kittens at a given time. Half of them are very timid or feral and need patiences to assimilate/adjust to human interaction. I really value Perry's Place as they are a no-kill shelther and they are constantly saving cats from other LA shelters. Hopefully if you have time to commit, please consider adopting, fostering or volunteering at Perry's Place. read more

My negative review of this organization is reinforced by the self-promoting response by "Ritchie" herein, which skirts the issue of the staff's negative & toxic behavior in dealing with potential adopters. Perry's Place's "12/15/2017" response is the antithesis of what it claims ("make every effort to engage with professionalism"). To be clear, their representative's avoidant, self-promoting, dishonest response is a classic example of UNPROFESSIONALISM. What a shame. They did rectify the issue by providing a rabies certificate however, when I asked them about providing a certificate they did lie to me and state that they don't provide them which can be shown in proof by text messages. They did give vaccines for free and clipped nails however I don't like being lied to or having though unnecessary trouble when they should have provided a rabies certificate in the first place. read more

I am so impressed with Perry's Place. A week before Christmas, I saw a TikTok from their account of a sweet calico. I filled out an adoption application, and was able to get an appointment to see her within two days. I ended up taking her and another girl home with me that day. While I was at Perry's Place, they answered all my questions, gave me information that I wouldn't have thought to ask, and allowed me all the time I needed to visit with the cats to make a decision. But what has really impressed me is the contact I continue to have with Perry's Place after the adoption. They utilize an app that sent me surveys on my cats' acclimation, eating, and bathroom habits in their new home, with responses to my survey answers. They also sent me emails to check in on my new roomates and see if I had any questions or concerns. I have sent them pictures of the cats via email and their Instragram account, and they always respond quickly. The people who work at Perry's Place are genuine in their concern and care for the well being of cats. I'm so glad I made the decision to contact them as it brought me two fabulous roommates. By the way, I adopted two cats who had been possible candidates for the "working cat" program - a program designed to place formerly ferral or semi-ferral cats into barns, greenhouses, etc. These two ladies were a bit skittish and shy with me at the shelter. They needed a little patience, and someone who would meet them where they were in their comfort levels. But within a few weeks, they have become incredibly affectionate with me and each other. read more

I had heard the warnings that Heaven on Earth cat adoption can be selective about disclosing medical or behavioral problems. But reached out to them anyway because cat adoption resources are scarce in the valley. The manager pre-selected a cat and, to her credit, Oreo immediately bonded to me. I am an experienced pet owner having raised five dogs, nine cats, and numerous other animals over the past 40 years. Including a pound rescue cat that they said was incapable of bonding, but with patience became my lap baby for the last 12 years until his passing. Oreo and I were instantly inseparable. If I stepped out of his room, he would meow until I returned, and then it was a loving purr fest. I stayed home 24/7, and Oreo clung to me day and night, even as I slept on a sofa just so that I could be there for him. However, every few minutes Oreo would leave my arms, and start frantically panic screaming at the door (as if he was being beaten), and then run back into my arms for comfort. I think that he was sensing that my wife's dog was somewhere beyond that door. All the while, my wife's dog (a service animal) never left her side. This was not normal cat hissing, but an uncontrollable instinctual reaction that no amount of time could have ever resolved. It did not matter that Oreo and our dog remained in different rooms with no contact. Oreo had seen the dog twice, and that was twice to many times. After 48 hours, Oreo developed mild diarrhea and I knew that the longer he stayed in our home, the more traumatized he would become. Potentially getting very sick or becoming emotionally unable to be re-homed. I had to decide between keeping my wife or my new cat, to which my wife said that I took an uncomfortably look time in deciding. Bringing Oreo back was one of the most difficult decisions that I have ever made, and the fact that he spent 95% of his time in my arms made that decision even harder. But I had to put his needs above my own. For him to have the best chance of a happy life, even if it meant being away from me. I told the facility staff to keep the adoption fees and handed over another $300 in cash (I had given $200 in cash on the adoption day) to help cover care costs. I then held Oreo one last time, as he reluctantly left my arms for their cage. My hope was to take a few days before opening up to another fur baby to love. Rather than having any compassion for this experience, management repeatedly stated that it was my fault for not isolating Oreo. When I asked to be considered for a different fur baby, I was told NO since I had not kept Oreo for two full weeks. A policy they had never previously mentioned, and to which they admitted was subjectively applied. Not that I would have risked Oreo's well being just to fit their policy. I should have listened to the warnings because, for me, they turned Heaven on Earth into a living... I can only hope that they treat cats better than they treat people. The city animal shelter is no-kill and has fur babies that need a home, they disclose all medical and behavioral issues, and they don't punish people for doing right by their pets. read more

We just adopted a kitten from heaven on earth, and we had a fantastic experience. I have adopted other cats from animal shelters in the past and we have had flea problems, upper respiratory illnesses Etc...... with this adoption I have never seen a place that was so clean the animals were so well taken care of and our kitten was in spectacular shape. She was clean, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and in great condition. So it's been a year since we adopted our cat from here and her medical bills have reached $15,000 because they lied to us and said she was healthy and didn't need any vet checks (she literally said this to us) even though they were treating her for an ear infection which turned out to be chronic and she has to be on allergy shots for the rest of her life. Her ears were so impacted she had to undergo deep cleaning to scrape out her ear canals and the damage has affected her hearing. Had a random trip to LA and saw that this cat shelter was on the way home. I already called a couple more in the area and the amount to adopt was ridiculous someone even quoted me 300-450 while this shelter was only 100. All the volunteers were extremely helpful and knew the personality of every cat i was interested in. I fell in love with this little guy and they helped me into the enclosure to get to know him . The adoption process was extremely easy but just know that you need your own carrier . I love that they give you coupons to Petsmart so I saved a couple dollars and got free cat food. Adopt don't shop there's so many sweet hearts who need homes and this cat sanctuary makes the process so quick and easy. I met Payton Swanson from Perry's Place, one of Heaven on Earth's adoption cites at a PetSmart in Sherman Oaks. She was very friendly and helped us so much! He had all of his shots, he was neutered, and microchipped by the day our adoption was final (the next day!) he's a beautiful Siamese-Lynx mix with bright blue eyes! He is the most energetic, cuddly, wonderful ball of joy. When I got to Perry's Place, all staff and volunteers where as sweet as ever, including all the cats and kittens they house. They currently house 178 kittens in a total of 330+ cats and care for all of them well. The adoption went smoothly and he was in the room with me while I signed the final documents it was lovely. I would highly recommend adopting from Perry's Place in Sherman Oaks. This is our kitten. His original name was Peter. We named him Musashi. Had my kitty spayed and was so thrilled that I did it here. Due to Covid, they are currently working from the West Valley shelter in Chatsworth. The nurses were very sweet and gentle during the easiest drop off/pick up. The doctor provided detailed notes from the entire process. They also included pain meds for her at the end at no extra cost. I used the LA City voucher too. I wish that I had saved the stress with my other cat and took him here instead. Adopted Our new kitties from this place and the journey couldn't have been more comforting and easy. I absolutely LOVED the time they took with us not only to help us but also help the KITTIES. They knew every cat pretty much there and if the cat was new they made sure to pull their file and learn about the cat so that you are informed just as much. Absolutely loved that they gave us time alone and to also spend time with the cats in a seperate location to see if the cats responded to us. As all cat owners know the cat must choose you, ultimately. Boy did these two kittens from separate crates choose us and we couldn't have been happier. Originally only thought about taking one kitten but honestly taking two kittens was a much better fit especially for these two because they can learn from each other and play with each other. Jill is amazing! We rescued our BEAUTIFUL cat, Luna here back in May and we cannot be any more thrilled and in love with her. The adoption/rescue process was incredibly painless and efficient. Years ago I adopted my beloved Trixie from Heaven on Earth. The staff have always been extremely friendly and helpful, and to say that Trixie changed my world would be a huge understatement. Sadly, Trixie passed away years later, but the staff was very supportive even as I grieved the loss of my precious girl. My parents also adopted Alice from this place and could not have been happier. I can't reccomend this place highly enough. They are doing great work here and I'm so happy I stopped in on my search for my new fur baby. If you are in the area and looking to adopt a cat, I'd make this your first stop. I came to Perry's Place after meeting with many of the adoption organizations around town, and Perry's was one of the few who seemed genuinely focused on getting the cats home, rather than having prospective adopters jump through hoops just for the organization to still have control over the cat for the rest of their life. I love Perry's Place's mission of helping cats who most need it, and the cats at this shelter seem to be very happy and cared for. I met my sweet Momo and put a hold on her and I was able to bring her home the following day. The workers who helped me in the process were so kind, helpful, and knowledgeable.
