We had the Coco loco mussels in a coconut lemongrass broth and the button clams in a wine broth. Both are served with perfectly grilled crostini. The broth for both is just delicious and they both pair perfectly with an ice cold beer. Service was great as usual. We were recommended to this place a few years ago, but we finally managed to get in. I'm very happy we did. We started off at the bar for a cocktail and service was great. The bartenders were very friendly. We were then seated to some delicious courses. We started off with a few appetizers between the four of us. We shared their famous caviar, tuna spoons, which are delicious and worth getting every single time. We also shared the poke tuna app, SO fresh and good, we had the tuna wontons, they were wow, and we had the tuna crudo. We were amazed at how fresh & smooth the tuna was. My fiancé and I have been dying to try this place for a while and we finally made a reservation. The valet parking when we arrived was a pleasant surprise. Our server, Grant, gave us the rundown of the menu and what the specials were. He helped us make our final decisions which was difficult because everything sounded so good. For starters, we decided to go with the Salmon on Crispy Rice and the Tuna Tartar Happy Spoons which had Uni. They were both on the special menu so we couldn't pass them up and they did not disappoint. The salmon was very tasty and the rice was nice and crispy. They topped it with a wasabi caviar that gave it an amazing flavor. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. We also had the mussels. They were amazing and if I had a straw I would have drank the entire thing. For dinner my fiancé had the fish of the day stuffed with crab. The fish was cooked perfectly and the crab meat stuffing was fresh and flavorful. I ended up going with the scallop and lobster scamp over linguini which came at Grant's recommendation. He definitely steered me right because it was SO good. I have never had a scallop cooked so perfect. It was tender and melted in my mouth. For dessert, because we can NEVER pass on a peek at the dessert menu, we had the butter cake. Let me tell you about this butter cake. I was full and wasn't going to have any, but this cake smelled so good my mouth began watering the second they placed it in front of my fiancé. It was so rich and buttery. They put a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top which sealed the deal. I'd go back just for the butter cake. Great Monday night winter happy hour! Deals on Modelos, margaritas and prosecco as well as $2 oysters and $3 fancy oysters. The fancy oysters come topped with wasabi caviar and tomato jam. You can mix and match the fancy oysters and regular any way you like. We ordered the oysters - they were fresh and delicious. I also ordered the Poke of the Day which was a yellow fin tuna poke bowl. The Tuna melted in my mouth and the bowl had the perfect ratio of fish, veggies and sauce. All the servers at the restaurant were bubbly and outgoing. My husband and I snagged a last second (2 weeks ago) reservation for this spot and I am embarrassed to admit I've lived in the area for 14 years and never visited this place because I though it was a spot for some terribly fried fish n chips sorta food. From the minute we got our first round of drinks to our dessert this place delivered deliciousness with every bite! The drinks were well balanced and actually tasted like they had some liquor in them. The apps were amazing the stuffed baked clams (stuffed with scallop, lobster, crab) with delicious sauce were incredible. The crab dip is to die for but would be better if they served it with more bread. Four pieces wasn't enough to finish the dip let alone and if you have over a group of 4 you'll be splitting pieces of bread. The Caribbean plate was delicious (points off for forgetting the plantains!) but the dish overall was yummy. I do wish it would've come on a board like it is usually served as everything was running into each other and there wasn't enough room to navigate the whole dish. The crab stuffed salmon with mashed potatoes was delicious nothing out of this world but definitely good. The fish tacos were swordfish and really tasty both grilled and fried. The grilled fish was covered in blackened seasoning which I happen to love but if you don't like spicy I would warn you to confirm with them whether or not the grilled fish of the day is blackened. Though the tacos tasted good they were extremely unbalanced. Some had tons of toppings others had barely anything on them. The desserts (all $12 each) were all amazing our ranking was: #1 butter cake #2 key like pie #3 cherry crisp #4 brookie The top 3 were all separated by a thin margin we'd have all of those again for sure! The only one we could do without was the brookie it was honestly nothing special and left us wishing we had ordered a second butter cake! The espresso martini was a great compliment to an already delicious meal. The service was decent our waiter forgot to ring in our salad so we missed out on that. The food runner was super nice and very helpful. The outdoor seating area was well lit and well spaced out. The indoor seating is definitely more cramped and less enticing. We started with the spicy calamari. It was so fresh and tender with just the right amount of heat from the peppers. Fried to perfection. Delicious! Now for the show stopper "The salmon" this was the best piece of Salmon that I've ever had. It was so fresh and it was bursting with so many different flavors. The presentation was stunning and it was a pure delightful for my taste buds. The chef put a lot of thought into this dish and it shows. My husband and I were visiting some close friends on the Jersey shore and they suggested 2nd Jetty for dinner. Upon initial outward impression, 2nd Jetty looks like your typical Jersey shore, seafood, casual dining restaurant. Located at the junction of a couple of bridges/highway overpasses with outdoor seating expanded into the parking lot it's fairly nondescript. But then the food arrives, and oh my goodness this is definitely the best seafood I've had on the Jersey shore to date! Highlights include...every single thing that we ordered. We started with the tuna meatballs which were plump and flavorful. The accompanying seaweed salad provided a nice salty - umami balance to the dish. We also ordered a couple dozen clams that were fresh and delicious. The calamari was crunchy, golden, fried deliciousness. The crudo was a piece of artwork with nearly every color of the rainbow artfully plated. It was a bright, acidic dish that was thoroughly refreshing. Now onto the main course, the Whole Lobster Fra Diavolo over linguine. First of all, the portions just don't make any sense, and I mean this in the absolutely best way possible. They give you so much actual seafood, including lobster, shrimp, mussels, and clams that you forget that it is actually a pasta dish! The tomato-based sauce is rich with a slightly spicy kick, but does not overpower the native flavor of the fresh seafood. Bravo well done! The seafood tacos also looked amazing. Unfortunately, I don't know for sure because my husband was so busy wolfing down the tacos that he forgot to share. I guess that's a testament to great food, lol. We ended with absolutely rich and decadent desserts, a blondie and a peanut butter and chocolate pretzel, both smothered with cool vanilla ice cream. Mmmm On another note the service was phenomenal. I used to really like this place but customer service is horrific. I cancelled my reservation 24 hours in advance and was charged $120 anyways. I have called multiple times, mostly they don't answer the phone but when I finally did speak with someone, I asked if the manager would please call me back so I could share the text and confirmation that I had cancelled 26 hours in advance - I was very polite, even though really annoyed. Nothing - no call back one week later, and cannot reach anyone live on the phone. I really don't have time to chase this down but will NEVER go here again and caution anyone who might need to cancel a reservation because they're just going to charge you anyway. read more
