I love a good steak and I always get a great one. I know what I like and how I like it cooked and thats what I get. The rest of the menu is just as good. Great place for a great meal. read more

Delicious food and great waitstaff!! 2Johns has a wonderful menu! I try something different every time we come and I haven't been disappointed yet!! read more

Had one server for 20 people, brought bread after the meal, ran out of cocktail, food was good though

For me to give any place five star would have to be extraordinary, but this place is real close. The part I think I like most is the people. Just wonderful folks from the owner to the table stewards. They have a couple of sea bass recipes are fantastic. The crab cakes are so good that my wife will eat them there. They have a full bar with knowledge folks behind the bar. Very clean and is your typical neighborhood establishment. While menu selection is very small but everything on there taste great. The variety is extensive from steak to seafood, to chicken to pasta and shrimp and a variety of salad selections. The calamari is the best in town and very tender. The appetizer selections are all excellent. If you have someone that is on a special diet while items like this may not be on the menu they can accommodate. Needless to say I'm a frequent visitor. read more

Food was delicious! However, I told my server that I had a late lunch and didn't want a heavy dinner. He suggested the 9 oz filet or the red fish entree. When I reiterated I wanted something lighter and ordered the crabmeat au gratin appetizer he became less interested in me. I also ordered a Prosecco and he tried to up sell me on the gin / lemon and Prosecco drink. Please listen to your customer and think of their needs before your needs for a higher bill and tip. Server was Gregg. read more

Took my husband for his birthday we arrived earlier than our reservation so we hung out in the bar area. The drinks were excellent Joel was knowledgeable about drinks and his suggestions. Once our table was ready we were seated our waiter was okay nothing to elaborate about. I ordered the filet with Oscar and my husband had the steak with Oscar. Now don't get me wrong the food was okay considering we sent it back because it was COLD!!! Yes cold, so the waiter took it back brought it back again and yeap COLD again!!!!! The only thing he would say is I'm sorry no explanation now we did get hot food..., mashed potatoes. Even my grits were cold how does this happen. The bartender gets 5 stars, the waiter 3, the hostess 1 (stay off your phone when talking to guest). Price wasn't surprising but I do expect temperature to be correct. read more

My husband took me here tonight for my birthday dinner. We are not from the area, but after researching expected this to be a high end great steak house. The atmosphere was very loud and very little walking room around tables. Which would've been fine had the food made up for it. I will say the wedge salad was amazing and probably one of the best I've had, but I didn't go to a steak house for a wedge salad. I ordered a New York Strip medium rare. It came out medium well...sent it back and it came out rare and cold!! I've cold in the center. By this time my husband had finished his steak which was cooked medium like he ordered, but had so much salt on top of it you couldn't even taste the steak. I sent my rare steak back a second time and decided not to let them try again. So, my meal consisted of a glass of wine, part of a wedge salad, some bread, and potatoes. We paid well over $100 for just my husband's meal since I sent mine back, but thank goodness for that $1 manager discount we got off our bill for messing up my food. AND if I'm spending that much money and I have to send my steak back not once, but twice I would expect a manager to show their face at my table, but our server never said sorry, a manager never showed up. We were just very quickly given a bill and felt rushed out!! This is NOT somewhere to go if you are expecting high end food!! Very disappointed and will not be returning!!! read more

Fantastic steaks and fish dishes! Impeccable service! Filet is very tender and flavorful, fish dishes are creative and tasty read more

Hands down the BEST high end restaurant around! I have been to a couple of other "high end" steak houses in Shreveport and that don't come close to 2 Johns! My mother was visiting from NC and we decided to give 2 Johns a try and I am so glad we did! Service was good and the food was amazing!!! We also had the fried calamari for an appetizer and it was so great! I will definitely be back soon! read more

I would give it a 4.5 if I could. Best salad I have ever had. Try the fire green tomato salad! So delicious! We also ordered the steak which was cooked to perfection. Sweet potatoes and bread were ok. Great ambiance and the owner even came by to say hi! Try this restaurant, you won't regret it. read more

Excellent restaurant for Shreveport. Service very earnest. I had the snapper over risotto, which was very good and Louisiana.

Good steakhouse and fish house. Appetizers are great, but nothing out of the ordinary. Entrees are really good: I got the trout with crawfish sauce and it was delicious, maybe a little too sweet for my taste, but good. Interesting wine selection. Good service. A/C was a little low, but we ask to turn it down! read more

Hands down, best steak in town. They make an amazing old fashioned and the bbq quail is spot on. Great place for a date or just a really nice meal. Our server was super nice and new the menu backwards and forwards. He was able to answer Any question we had and describe the dish in detail. read more

The filet was cooked ordered(medium rare) and seasoned nicely. The asparagus were cooked to perfection. Great atmosphere. Cakebread Pinot paired well. read more

This was a spectacular place. Loved the bar (band playing "Bad Bad Leroy Brown" when we walked in - you have to love that) and the owner personally told us about their steaks. Which were UH-mazing. Great find in little ole Shreveport read more

I have eaten at 2Johns many times. Ive always had great service and food. Tonight it wasn't to be. The service was great as usual. 2 steaks were ordered. They were served as ordered. Definitely quality product, but salty. We ordered mac and cheese and sautéed spinach as sides. They were so salty they weren't really edible. I will definitely go back, everyone has an off night. Im writing this less than glowing review just as a notice to the restaurant to be on top of their game. At $190 for two before tip, this wasn't a value. Always one of my favorite local eateries, hoping the consistency returns. read more

Best steak house in Shreveport/Bossier area. First time we have gone but will definitely be back. We have eaten at the other upscale steak/seafood places in the area and this one is the best. We had both the steak and fish and both were superb. read more

There service was excellent. The atmosphere was soothing and the food was delicious! Kudos to the staff and management.

This is the best restaurant in Northwest Louisiana, hands down. It's not just the outstanding, consistent quality of food every time we eat there, or even when we go for just a drink at the bar, but the impeccable customer service, atmosphere and entertainment are second to none. I come from a history of eating in the finest restaurants across the U.S., and 2Johns would rival any of them. I recommend a drink at the bar before your meal - perhaps a barrel-aged old fashioned for the men, with a pineapple-infused cosmopolitan or barrel-aged margarita for the ladies. Get to know Joel, Paul, Damon and others - they take pride in getting to know you personally and will remember you the next time you come! Come enjoy some live music for an hour before having a relaxing, 5-star dinner. The crab meat au gratin (with lumps of fresh crab so big it takes two bites) is a great appetizer. Follow it by the most premium beef available, like a tender filet au poivre, or if you want even more flavor, the ribeye is a must have. If you're feeling more creative and light but don't want leftovers, try their multiple seafood options, where their special is usually a must have, and you don't want to miss it. End the evening with some delicious bread pudding and a port, or finish off the bottle of wine you ordered from their extensive menu. Say hello to John, the owner, as he comes by to personally check on every customer. But before leaving, have a night cap at the bar - they have an extensive list of high-class customized drinks, from seasonal egg nog to jalapeño infused vodka, or a chocolate martini with only the finest ingredients. read more

This is going to be short. Had to opportunity to have dinner at 2 Johns on a Wednesday Night at 7pm. This place is hoppin... Live Music, Full Bar, Old School vibe, very classy joint. I ordered the Cowboy Ribeye with everything (Their special sauce and crawfish tails). Absolutely stunning presentation and taste. I'm not one to sauce my steak, however, I took the suggestion from my colleague and was completely satisfied with my choice. Their bar is stocked with anything you would want. I mean, come on, they had Lagavulin 16. Classy place. We even had a visit from one of the two Johns. Shook our hands, asked how things were, joked with us for a few. He cares for his place. I can see why its such a success. I will be back for more! read more

Fellow Yelpers, oh how I adore thee! You so rarely disappoint. Yesterday was one of those "I need an excellent martini ASAP" sort of workdays, and I saw this place is known for their outstanding drinks, so off I go. Walking in, I was rather nervous as it is very upscale and snooty-looking, however the young lady who greeted me at the door welcomed me with the biggest smile and reassured me my work clothes were just fine. I sat at the bar and was greeted by Joel and Nathan (I hope I'm remembering their names correctly. I'm so bad about that) who are truly gifted Mixologists. They also happen to be very nice, funny and outstanding salesmen. I had no clue what to get other than what the Yelpers advised (grapefruit martini. Beyond sublime, but I'll get to that) and that's when they began to describe this upstream swimming Salmon from Alaska in all its succulent glory. I don't like seafood. Not a fan of fish unless it's Tuna but the look on His face when he described it....I knew I had to see what the big deal was about. It was SO GOOD. I ate it all.I also had a fried green tomato salad that was so crisp and fresh! But those martinis....the Peach, the grapefruit..I dreamed about them later on. As an added bonus, the restaurant has excellent taste, as they do carry Don Julio tequila in not only silver but anejo and reposado. The piano music and singing was excellent, the crowd welcoming, and it was a very enjoyable end to a pretty rotten day. The price for such a lovely experience isn't cheap; In fact it was the first time I ever paid over a hundred dollars for just myself but I had good company, a meal I've never had before, excellent drinks, great atmosphere and free entertainment in not only the live music but watching the bartenders create their unique drinks and clearly having a ball doing it. The way my bank account is set up, you won't see me often but the very next time I find myself with a little extra funds I'm definitely headed here to treat myself. And when I do, I hope to meet some of you there in person - You'll find me at the bar, sipping a grapefruit martini, I'm sure. Well done Yelpers, you were so right about this place. read more

I am a native to the Shreveport-Bossier area, but now live in Houston. I dined here with my boyfriend and another couple. I am a manager at a fine dining steakhouse, so my expectations were pretty high. The food was absolutely delicious. Tried the BBQ Quail and grits app, it was divine. Just the right amount of seasoning and the grits were a nice consistency. I had the Rainbow Trout Meuniere and my boyfriend had the NY Strip medium. We both loved our choices! Our guests also were delighted with their food, which I expected since they suggested 2Johns. Our server, Greg was just fantastic. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and of cooking in general. He was a pleasure to talk to. Throughout our meal, I noticed John, the manager, visiting every table in the restaurant. Being a dining room manager, I recognized how nice that looked. I had heard some unpleasant opinions about how certain people are perceived by the mgmt staff there, and to my disappointment, John never once visited our table. We had a full dinner from a bottle of wine, apps, entrees and desserts, so we were there for quite a while, which gave him ample time to check on us and he never did. While everything else was great, this small negligence left a very bad taste in my mouth. Food and Greg's service was great, but being looked over when everyone else seemed important is why I gave 2 stars... read more

There are a few times in life when everything works our perfectly. Tonight was such a night. The food was exquisite. We started with the crab au gratin app which was rich and decadent. My husband had the red fish and I had the striped bass. Both entrees were served with a wonderful spinach risotto and haricot Verts. We ended with a fabulous bread pudding with craisins and pecans covered in a southern comfort sauce. Our Server, Stacy was the best! Highly recommend 2 Johns for a romantic dinner. There was a piano player as well that added to the ambience! read more

Where do I start? First and foremost I have issue with going to a dining establishment and not being able to hold a conversation with my guests. A++ on this. Grapefruit and Peach Ruston Martinis were amazing. Shrimp and grits appetizer was equally as good. Berry Salad, wedge salad and Green Tomato salads did not disappoint. The Entrees were stellar! The dishes chosen were Steak med rare of course, Halibut and Snapper. All were stellar. The desserts were gone in the blink of an eye. Creme Brulee, Chocolate cake and Blackberry Cobbler were ever so enjoyable. Service was Impeccable. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

I made reservations for my wife and I at 5 pm on a Tuesday. We arrived a few minutes early so we had drinks at the bar. The bartender recommended a Grapefruit Martini and it was marvelous! The atmosphere was pleasant. At 5 pm we were promptly escorted to our table and brought a wonderful bread roll with whipped butter. We had appetizers of a wedge salad and shrimp cocktail. The salad was absolutely fresh, light, and tasty. The shrimp in the cocktail were true jumbo and served with cocktail sauce and a light zesty honey mustard. For main entrees, my wife had flounder and I had the 10 Oz filet steak. The flounder was excellently cooked without an overbearing fishy flavor. My wife comes from a seafood industry, so her tastes are highly discriminating. My steak was ordered medium rare, and it was cooked correctly. The steak was very tender by means of 1. Excellent sourcing of restaraunt meat and 2. excellent cooking techniques. There were no chemicals or cheap tenderizing techniques used. The resulting experience was the best beef steak I've ever had (and I've been around many fine restaraunts). The servers were very personal and attentive to our every need, and they quickly packaged my wife's meal to bring home. If there was anything to complain about, we had a large boisterous group seated next to us that kind of ruined our intimate meal. In the future, I will be more selective in seating (and tipping) to ensure we could find a more cozy booth in a corner. But I do highly recommend 2johns as the best upscale eatery in the entire Shreveport/Bossier City area. read more

My husband and I went here for our anniversary, and our expectations were high. I started with the fried green tomato salad. It was only OK, a little too "oniony" for my taste. But the fried green tomatoes and homemade dressing were really good. For the entrees, I had the Filet Oscar-what bliss!! The steak was a perfect medium, topped with jumbo lump crabmeat with jumbo grilled shrimp on the side. On the side were mashed potatoes & haricot verts. Everything was absolutely perfect! My husband had the rainbow trout -I had a taste & it was cooked very well. You can't go wrong with surf or turf here! They had a good selection of red wines by the glass, I tried a couple. We were too full for dessert, maybe one day we'll go to the bar for drinks, apps & dessert. read more

This restaurant did no meet my expectations. Service was average and the food below average. The highlight was the wedge salad and the au gratin potatoes. I ordered the ribeye cooked medium and it came medium well. My husband ordered the filet special medium rare and it came medium well as well. For a restaurant that is suppose to specialize in steaks, we were not impressed. We are definitely willing to pay for the dining experience as much as excellent food and service; this restaurant did not meet any of these requirements! read more

Our favorite place for steaks in Shreveport-Bossier. Great service, great atmosphere, great food. What else do you need to know?

A review for our out of town visitors: welcome to Shreveport/Bossier City. I am a native Bossierite & a foodie. I love personal service & want my dining experience to be memorable & special. This restaurant is owned by two extraordinary people. John Sr. always visits the dining room & usually makes it to every table. While John Jr has the back operating like a well oiled machine. The steak is like no other. The seafood is always fresh. The desserts are worth making room for. And, the expert wait staff make you feel as if you're the only table in the room. I love attention to detail: they hit the mark & then some. Complimentary valet parking. Nightly entertainment is the icing on the cake. Don't leave town without a visit to 2Johns. Upscale atmosphere & well worth spending your evening there. read more

Great experience! The service was perfect--they are always there when you need them, but do not hover. The food was delicious. I had the chicken and my boyfriend had the filet. They had great flavor.
