My favorite for ten years or so. I've been a fan since they where at the old location ( now a gym) in same shopping center . I love that it's super organized. I always leave with a bag or two with quality items. I personally shop on the non discounted days ( Sunday, Monday, and Thursday discount days to my knowledge ) only because it's Super Crowded! They are consistently placing items on the rack through out the entire day to keep items on the floor. They added restrooms to this locational as well. Parking is plentiful. I have officially become a #thirfter based on this store! I love this store. I have found everything from vintage slips to camera tripods to a coat for my 10 year old son. Don't confuse thrift with trash. This store is clean, spacious and the customer service is awesome. You can not go through An aisle without an employee excising themselves from your way because they are straightening the racks. Clean dressing rooms and most times, the clothes smell fresh like they just got out the dryer. I find the best hoodies for my son and belts and ties for the mister. Finding slips for myself and my 5 year old daughter was difficult until I found this store. I am old school with old school money still so having this store is a blessing. Often times I will find garments that have brand new tags on them.... Imagine that. A brand new pair of Children's Place jeans for $5. You can not beat that. I just recently picked up a wonderful portrait of important figures in African American history.... You will not find this picture anywhere. Love this store. A lot of pieces can get over the 8-10 dollars range *if you like sport gear (jerseys, retro professional team wear, etc) this is one of the best COMMON thrifts in my experience *if you like getting high end kind of steals not really the place.. (not gonna find a really nice vintage ralph lauren on many occasions if you ever do) *very dope selection of retro knitted sweaters just about every time i go *look through EVERYTHING you''re bound to find a piece or two if you actually see everything im assuming if you come here you prefer more of a retro look and if that's the case this thrift store should serve well and if not come again. Will never ever shop here ever again. Bought a film camera and made sure to ask if it was in working condition (you never know, and I've made this mistake before). They assured me that they had already tested it and that it was in working condition. Of course when I got home it wasn't. Checked the receipt to see return policy and of course, since it's a thrift store, no returns and no exceptions. Called a bunch of times to see if I could do anything about this and no one ever returned my calls. Now I'm stuck with a broken camera and am out $60 read more

I am definitely a fanatic of thrift stores but this place is more than just a thrift store. It actually feels like a regular retail place . It's so clean and organized that you wouldn't think that you are inside of a second hand shop. I just love coming here to see what goodies I can. My son was in need of an alarm clock and this was the best place to purchase one. I was even able to find one that played sounds of nature like the waves of the ocean and the sounds of a thunderstorm. Ended up paying $10 for 2 alarm clocks when I would have had to pay $20 for one at Walmart. I was told that they do have special sales on certain days but I've only been here a couple times, so I haven't figured that out just yet. read more

I've been going to this thrift store for years! This thrift store use to be located were the Planet Fitness is in same shopping center. The toy section,women,children section, house ware, and even men section is large. This place is organized, lacks the dusty and yucky feeling you get sometimes in thrift stores. Flatscreen TVs in all areas of store to let you know what's on sale. To date Sunday's, Monday's and Thursday's are sale days on selected colors. read more

It's now called 2nd Avenue and it is currently my favorite store! Seriously!!! I go there twice a week because they get so much new inventory that I feel if I do go frequently, I may miss a really good buy. I have gotten brand new shoes, a brand new cat drinking fountain, new clothes, etc. from there. It is amazing what you can find if you like to take the time and browse. I actually find tranquility in taking a few hours to visit this store after work and finding some neat stuff and great buys. It is very clean, neat and organized. Not only do I love this store, but my husband does too and that is saying a lot, especially since he doesn't like to shop! You just never know what you can find there. It's so much fun!!! read more

I have been shopping at 2nd Avenue in ALexandria since it opened a few months ago & have been happy with all my great finds! BUT....BEWARE, I recently splurged for a pair of Frye Campus boots which I was so excited to find. Wore them out that night & both heels fell off, which led me to wonder if they were real!!! They were fake from China:( Lesson learned & now I am stuck w a pair of boots I cant wear & out $70 bucks. I will be more aware next visit of whether the products are authentic!! read more

Found decent things but over priced. $11 for a used dress is a little steep for me, but that's just me. Big store- neat inside & tidy.

First, this is a second hand donations, whomever is pricing the donations is heavy handed with the black crayon. Seriously, for used items, it's better pricing for Target or Tuesday morning on clearance for new items. When the store first opened the prices and selection where really good, now the inventory is good but the prices are high. The do have 50% off days, Sunday and Monday and makes purchases seem better that average. read more

Amazing thrift store! This might be the best one I've ever been too (including many in LA and San Diego!) Firstly they have FITTING ROOMS! Great idea - because I ended up buying at least three times what I would normally buy as I could try it on. This is so awesome! The selection is really top notch and a lot of the clothes are in great condition and still fashion forward. I walked out with some assorted kitchen/mis items (set of pyrex bowls, silicone muffin pan, several picture frames) and a TON of clothes for $181. I mean two HUGE bags full of stuff. I got 10 shirts/blouses, 3 pairs of dress pants, 8 skirts, a great rain jacket, and 5 sweaters. It was like Christmas! Everything in great shape which is what I find so amazing. Most thrift stores still have out old, stained, dirty clothing which makes going through it all a real chore. This store is organized with a capital O. Very easy to find items. Of course people move stuff all day long so there are size 16 mixed in with my size 8 but it's not a huge deal to me as I love browsing. I had a full to the top and overflowing cart when I checked out. You can also score on the brand names - I picked up several Ann Taylor pieces in particular that were really great quality. My daughter found some great Liz Clarbourne and Aeropostale. We'll be back! read more

I am definitely a fan! I visited the store for the first time today and came out with some fantastic finds! Of all the thrifts stores I've been too I will have to say this one had the largest selection of shoes. Just an FYI though. Although everything is supposed to be sized I realized a lot of items were not so I ended up spending more time in the store than I originally planned but had I'd not I would have lost out on my fabulous finds. Also make sure you take advantage of their discount days where you get 50% off. I know two days are Sundays and Thursdays and think the other day is Monday. Last thing. This place is decent but a little disorganized. The store on Route 1 and Whisky Bottom has higher quality items and is better organized.

When 2nd Avenue first came to Laurel we were very excited to see the low prices and the great jobs that they brought to the neighborhood. About a year later we started noticing that the prices of the used items seemed to rival new items in the store. Now often times you can find better deals at Walmart then you can at 2nd Avenue. The new manager seems to be totally obsessed with raising the prices on items that she actually is getting for free. My wife often tells me that now she can find better deals on new items than the prices offered at 2nd Avenue for Used items. I used to use them for my ebay sales but now I find it very difficult to find products that have a decent sales margin so I stopped frequenting them. Please check your prices and other stores before you overpay at 2nd Avenue. read more

When this store first open it was great. But my last few trips, not so good. I mostly shop for household items. I was there yesterday and saw a Mason Jar for $2.90, a small cover glass casserole dish for $7.90, a 9x13 baking dish for $9.00. I can get them for less new at Homegoods or Walmart. As for the Mason Jar they are .65 to.75 cents new. I don't know about you but, I don't go the thrift store to pay more for used things. read more

"Disneyland for hoarders" is an apt description of this mega thrift store. Rows and rows of everything from Hollister shorts to kitchenware, tennis rackets and computer monitors. This is by far the largest and most well stocked thrift store I've ever been to. If you're in the market for a deal on secondhand goods - it's impossible to not find an absolute steal. You'll appreciate the wide aisles, and well organized product categories. The extensive clothing selection is separated down to sleeve length & style. If you needed something specific it would be very easy to track down in this place. I was just browsing for bargains today and was very pleased with my finds - a silk Victoria's Secret pj set with the tags still on them (a small stain on the pants makes them slightly imperfect but still very wearable) for 16.90, a pair of brand new LL Bean boots (unwanted Christmas present?) for 9.90, and three popular adult paperbacks for .50 a piece (best price I've found on paperback books - Goodwill & other thrift tend to charge $1 a piece). I'll definitely stop back in when I'm next in the area. If you're shopping around Laurel, give this place a try! read more

I admit I am thrift store whore. If there is one, I have to stop. This one is good but it is always hit or miss. You can go sometimes and you walk out with a major find (brand new kitchen style crocs in my size and color... yes thank you) or you can walk out empty handed. More often then not lately I have not really found anything that sings to me (you know how it is)-- I do not want to fault the store for me not finding anything 'cause they only get what is donated but still..... This was my first visit to this 2nd Ave location and I was thoroughly impressed! This store is HUGE. It is pretty well organized as well. I didn't have time to get to all of the sections so I stuck with my faves - housewears and women's clothes. I didn't find anything astounding but I got plenty of good deals! They had 3 color tags 50% off and 2 were 33% off which was fantastic. My best find was a Limited blazer with tags for $9. I got 3 pairs of pants (gap, J. Crew, Loft), 2 blazers (Limited, Calson), 1 button down (Attention), 3 sweatshirts (Lou & grey, gap, Kenneth Cole reaction), 2 pullover tops (gap, Loft) all for $50! This thrift store has recently gotten a facelift and looks incredible! To me, it looks as if they purchased the retail space next to them and expanded which created much more space and a revamp! Products now sold are VERY organized and priced reasonably. No more broken items, no more crap, no more spaced out employees and no more smelly clothes. The first time I walked in I was amazed! I found so many items I had been looking for a long time. The store was well put together and worth the trek up and down each isle. My cart was full before I was able to get half way through the store, but no problem I knew it was time to pull myself away and look forward to another visit. read more

I think I love 2nd Avenue Value Store more than any other thrift store in my area. I go on Sundays or Mondays for 50% off. I got like 6 beautiful sweaters for only 25$ last week. Amazing. Hopefully the quality does not go down over time. read more

Wow! Was this place organized or what? Everything being in its place made finding things very easy. Lots and lots and lots of toys. Dishes and china, too. Plenty of clothes and accessories, but not a whole lot of upscale items, if you're looking for that. Only medical devices I saw were crutches. 2nd Avenue offers decent values IF you come on a discount day (Sunday, Monday, and Thursday), when select colors are 33% to 50%. Other days, some of the stuff seems priced high. You have to know your brands to be sure you're getting a bargain. You ALSO may want to shop with a friend, so you can watch each other's stuff if one of you has to use the bathroom. At least TWICE I have left my cart just feet from the ladies' room, figuring the Dressing room attendant saw me go in....only to find my cart GONE when I came out, like one of the over-enthusiastic employees thought it was abandoned! I couldn't even find the manager to complain (whoever's in charge there seems to hide a lot of the time). The Laurel store is clean for a thrift store....EXCEPT the bathroom, which is old, run-down, frequently with toilet paper scattered all over the floor....but OFTEN NO TOILET PAPER in the dispensers. You'd better take care of bathroom needs BEFORE visiting this store!!! read more
