Working with 24 Restore was a nightmare. The technicians that they sent out were 50-50 - some did very good work, some did not. Some did not speak enough English to be able to explain things to.
Water leak in pipe in wall of bathroom was fixed by a different business, and they were the ones who sent out 24Restore personnel. The "demolition" team wanted to demolish a lot, a lot more than was needed (such as tiles on the bathroom floor, not even near the leak in the wall). And they were demolishing things before I had seen or signed a contract with them. My feeling was that they were scammers - trying to get me to agree to more work so that the insurance company would pay them more.
It took 9 months to fix things, due to their incompetence. Bathroom vanity was destroyed by the demolition crew and it took two attempts (2 months) to get a new vanity installed as the first one had drawers that would not fit with the position of the drain pipes; a sign of incompetence as that should have been double-checked. Then 4 attempts (6 months) for them to get a sink that fit. In fact, In July they finally ordered the sink that I had suggested in March. It fit, of course. Very little contact with the project manager during all this time. Unprofessional, not competent behavior on this part of the project.
In the (8) changes of the contract updates during this time they added over $4000 to the price. Again, scamming as nothing new was being done. Perhaps the accountant/business office is incompetent, but scamming seems the more likely answer. It seemed they hoped I would sign with the higher figure so that I would have agreed to the higher value. I did refuse to sign and requested that the number be changed back. They did request nearly $700 more from the insurance company for the vanity; not sure why as the vanity was a part of the original work. Insurance company did pay it. And, at the start they charged more then what they had negotiated with the insurance company. I requested an explanation several times, but I gave up with my project manager's incomplete response and paid the extra nearly $500 anyway.
From the first day to the the last day I always felt the company was scamming, either homeowner or insurance company. The project took too long, never knew if the workers who came out would be professional or not. I would avoid this company if I were you; I will avoid them, too. read more
