RoadOne Towing - Can anyone explain this to me? I feel like I've been burned in the worst way rn

Around midnight and as I am cruising down the freeway out of the blue a big piece of wood(??) was…read morein the road. It couldn't safely be avoided and one of my tires hit it. My tire pressure warning light didn't turn on, so I kept driving.... but 30-60 seconds and I find myself making an emergency stop on the shoulder to find out that my tire is completely sheared. **Searching Yelp for a towing company with good reviews that was open at midnight and would service the area near Del Mar was not panning out.** Fortunately a CHP officer pulled up and asked me if I wanted him to call a towing company [for which I would be responsible to pay]. Given my unfruitful Yelp search I said that would be appreciated. He contacted RoadOne Towing and said they typically arrive w/in 15 minutes. 5-10 minutes later RoadOne r arrived. He told me it would be $154 plus mileage to tow the car. I asked him what would be the price to change the tire with my spare; he said it would be a flat $154 (pun intended :) ). He changed the tire lickety split, charged my credit card, and I was on my way. I forget the name of the driver who changed my tire, but he was very friendly. If you find yourself in need of a tow or tire change, especially late at night in the Del Mar / Encinitas area, I would definitely recommend RoadOne Towing. Thank you also to the CHP officer for calling them for me. P.S. I have no idea if the rates are the same if you call them directly versus if the CHP calls them for you.

very high marks for the driver at RoadOne Towing but very low marks for the company in general…read more my sixteen-year-old son Wyatt had borrowed my truck and was headed home after a wrestling tournament. he hit something on the freeway that blew up a front tire and took a hard left turn into the westbound 78 median in San Marcos. he wasn't seriously injured but the Tundra wasn't drivable. the tow truck was already hooking up by the time I get there which was PDQ. fast, friendly, efficient, but here's where things get sketchy: he asks me where I want the truck towed and I tell me as close as he can get to Carlsbad. the Tundra got dropped off at a yard in Escondido and, with a little back-dating, was checked in before midnight. apparently, the yard runs on Hawaiian Standard time. why is that important? because the yard charges storage fees by the day so I got charged for Friday. they're not open on weekends, so I get charged for Saturday and Sunday. Monday's a holiday and they're not open so I get charged for Monday. they don't take credit cards over the phone and I can't get to the yard because it's in effing Escondido and they have my truck so I get charged for Tuesday too. with a lot of help from USAA, the yard got paid and the Tundra towed to a repair place in Carlsbad. total cluster-bang. I doubt the driver got a cut of the money scammed by the yard which is a shame because he did the heavy lifting on a chilly, wet, and generally miserable night. anyway, if you use RoadOne Towing, do a better job of getting control of the situation early and often than I did.

I was caught between a rock and a hard place this afternoon. My car started to make a VERY loud…read morerattling noise in the wheel well on the passenger side. Something fairly terrifying at 50 mph. I yanked the car over and stopped and stood confused about what the problem could be. The driver for Delta, his name was Jeff (or Geoff?), was punctual and took my car out of harm's way. The wait wasn't unreasonable (roughly 35-40 minutes). When Jeff lowered my car off the truck he spotted the problem! My brake caliper was out of position! One of my caliper retention bolts was missing! It had fallen off after I probably failed to torque it enough after previously replacing my rotors. It was one heck of a repair! A whopping total of about $2.00 for a new bolt at Hoehn Honda, lol! I fixed it the next day.

I don't think I waited more than 10 minutes before Geoff had arrived. And since I was stuck on the side of the road, with cars zooming past me, I was relieved to see their truck pull up. Geoff was extremely polite, and understanding all while quickly getting my car hooked up and towed to a nearby mechanic. Being a young woman in the Carlsbad/Oceanside area makes me skeptical of any male coming to "help" but again, Geoff was so polite and helped put me at ease. He did his job, and moved on, which is the most important to me! Hopefully i won't have to use their services again anytime soon, but I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs roadside help!!
