Omg! Amazing discovery! Amazing authentic Korean! Holy cow! What a gem! Tell all your friends!…read more First off, bonchon dishes are amazing. Fresh, flavorful and fulfilling. My must have is the eggplant. Ugh! Yum! Sauce, samjang is samjanggggging! They make this in house. Store bought samjang isn't the same and other places don't make their own from scratch. The sauce is the ONE! My favorite go-tos to order is the pork belly platter served with rice and copious amounts of romaine lettuce. So fresh and satisfying. The tofu soup option is also a must and they allow you to go extra spicy. Korean food isn't typically spicy but the extra spice level is what I need when I'm looking for more than just a hint and a kick. Service - amazing! Super attentive and observative. They pay attention. For example, low on samjang. You don't need to ask, they bring it right to you. Low on bonchon, they'll bring more. Also, if you notice for to go orders, they pack you bonchon. This is rare. No one does this. You guys have a customer for life!

They are also one of the only Korean restaurants that I know that uses real prawns in their soondubu jjigae, a lot of other Korean restaurants will give you the weird small shrimp that aren't all that fresh/appetizing... I think this is one of the better Korean places that I have tried in the Berkeley/Oakland/Richmond general area.

I wish they have more business and keep this restaurant opens because I really enjoyed their food!

Everything was delicious, and the portions were huge--more than enough for three people to share and still have plenty of leftovers. Service was quick, and we didn't have to wait long for our food to come out. They were also really nice about packing the noodle spicy rice cakes in a sealed container for us to take home, which I appreciated! Plus, they had a great K-pop playlist playing in the background, which definitely added to the vibe. Overall, such a fun spot with good food, generous portions, and great energy. Definitely would come back to try more dishes!

We still had a great dinner, and the staff was nice to us, but I found the food to be somewhat of a letdown, especially at its price point. We ordered a lot of dishes and drinks and split them among three. We ordered more than enough food and ended up with some leftovers. Sundae was okay. The combo set is heavily marketed, but we actually didn't need all that food; there was not enough soup to justify another plate of sundae. Beware, don't fall for the marketing like we did! Beef intestine stew was very disappointing. Did not taste very flavorful at all, just a little bland and a little bitter. We had a whole casserole of it, and we barely touched it. Rose tteokbokki and the seafood noodles were our favorites. But those are very heavy dishes, especially the tteokbokki, so I can only have so much before I get full. And finally, forgot to mention that our wait was around an hour! We went to a nearby bar to grab drinks and then came back. Wait at your own will I suppose.

We tried the seafood scallion pancake, which was crispy on the outside and packed with seafood and scallions. The galbitang beef soup was another standout. It was rich, comforting, and full of tender beef meat on two huge bones. We also had the bulgogi bibimbap, the flavor from the red pepper paste and the beef was outta this world. Plenty of veggies too. The banchan were especially good, fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with quality ingredients. It's always a great sign when the side dishes are this thoughtfully prepared. Kimchi was super fresh but my wife really was impressed by the soft tofu side dish. The service was super friendly and welcoming which made the whole experience even better. Ordering was also incredibly easy thanks to the touch-screen tablet, making it simple to choose, submit our order and call over the wait staff. Overall, a great spot for comforting Korean food, generous flavors, quality banchan, and friendly service. Definitely worth checking out if you're craving a home-cooked Korean meal!

I rate this restaurant very highly, thank you check please Bay Area!…read moreFirst of all, plenty of parking on the street with mini Solano Avenue shops to pop your head in. The staff at the restaurant are all very kind and welcoming. They seem to really care about your experience. The setting is quite unique: you're surrounded by a Korean small market yet outside the doors you're in getaway of a back patio with trees and foliage surrounding you. Quite serene. As for the food, the menu is quite vast, which I am happy about since I will be back to try everything! This was our second visit and during our first trip we were very happy with the three items we ordered, Rosé rice cakes, Dupp bop spicy pork belly, and Jang pasta w/ pork belly. My wife and I loved the duck bop spicy pork belly because it was not just a huge cube of meat, but instead, it was sliced fin to take on a lot of the good sauce. Today I had the lunch special, which left me extremely satisfied. The portion size was large as I'm a rather large eater anyway... The Bulgogi beef was seasoned perfectly over a bit of cabbage or greens, white rice, and the kimchi spicy pork belly soup as you will see in the image was bubbling hot. Superb but watch out if you can't handle the heat as it is a bit spicy. I would say the prices are fair as well. Reservations were not necessary and attire is very casual.

I recommend going on a Sunday so the 90 minute street parking doesn't apply. We were easily able to get a table for four without reservation. But it was inside. Most people were sitting out on the patio. The back patio is such a cute vibe. It's like a lush garden with mature trees and shade and string lights. I wish they had a separate entrance for it though. I saw a couple people walking their dogs through the restaurant to get to the patio. The market actually has a pretty big selection of items! They even have several large refrigerators. I've never seen so many types of ramen outside a 99 Ranch. We ordered the palace rice cakes, beef cold noodles, spicy tofu, both fried chicken appetizers, and the jang pasta, and drinks. They have a nice selection of drinks that I haven't seen commonly offered at other Korean restaurants before like several types of Korean tea. Everything was delicious! My personal favorites were the jang pasta, palace rice cakes, and the cold noodles. The noodles were perfect to help cleanse the palate from the heavier and spicy menu items. Ur was tasty even without the vinegar. They were very generous with the amount of beef in the rice cakes. It was more beef than rice cake! The cost wasn't bad either. For four people it came out to $145 before tip. The only other suggestion I have is they install an air curtain or mesh curtains to help keep flies out. I really enjoyed Korean Superette and want to go back and hopefully get some groceries too!

Korean food can be very hit-or-miss for me, but the food here is actually pretty damn good. I gave them four stars, which is saying something because I'm pretty picky when it comes to Korean food. I've eaten at other Korean restaurants where certain chicken dishes didn't agree with me at all, and my stomach was reminding me about that meal for the next few days. I've never had that problem here. The food tastes fresh, the flavors are good, and I've enjoyed what I've ordered each time. If you're someone like me who doesn't automatically love every Korean restaurant you try, The Jumping Spoon is definitely worth giving a shot. It's one of the Korean spots I'd actually come back to.
