Sweet potato fries were good and the 3 sauces that came with them were awesome. It made my burger taste much more flavorful. The burger itself with the added bacon wasn't anything special. And by added bacon, it was probably only one piece cut in half. One thing I loved was the 16 Tuna or something rather. Very flavorful, but for three small layers of it as a social platter for $14, quite pricey but splurge worthy. The waitress wasn't very helpful. And very misleading when it came to the portion sizes. She also was a little too casual with us, seeming very unprofessional. The restaurant itself was very dim. The most lit spot in the restaurant is their full bar. Which they don't have a menu for. A great place for burger whenever you're in the Squaw Valley area. Here's my personal opinion about this place, based on my own personal experience. Food: 3/5. Its a mixed experience. I love my burger; full of flavor and good serving size. The salad that my wife ordered though is, well, not so impressive. It simply did not have the flavor that we normally get from a salad in the price range. Price: 3/5. Quite average in the area Serving: 5/5. No problem here. Polite and very attentive. Ambiance: 5/5. The place is located right in the center of the ski resort, with amazing view. The restaurant itself is very clean and has that relaxing atmosphere. I always enjoy dropping in 22 Bistro - whether it's for a quick mid day bite/brews (fuel sesh) or post shred dinner/brews. They are generally pretty busy but always manage to squeeze you in at the bar or get you a table quickly. The staff is always attentive and kind. They have a solid beer selection and the bartender (think his name is Jake) makes some mean cocktails! Clearly the bad reviews here come from the uptight barneys that spent the whole day going down the hill on their butts (likely butt hurt). I recommend the Mac-n-cheese, Brussels Sprouts, and the poke tuna plate. Enjoy! read more

I cannot even begin to say enough about what a WONDERFUL experience we had at Bistro 22! Locally owned, locally sourced, and hands down the best restaurant onsite at Squaw Valley. We had a last minute dinner come up for a party of 10, and not only was Marissa beyond accommodating, she helped curate such an incredible dining experience. Service was on point. We ordered two waves of appetizers - the sweet potato fries, deviled eggs, grilled artichokes and the Tower 16 ahi tuna app. Perfect for sharing and all absolutely delicious. People ordered a myriad of different things for dinner, but I ordered the ahi entree seared rare and the rice with the jicama and jalepeno was so great. I one hundred percent would have ordered the chocolate lava cake after had I been able to get someone to share it with me :) All this to say, this restaurant blew us away. We will definitely be back year over year and can't recommend it enough! read more

First time to this place. Not to squaw mtn. Love it here in general but the bartender lady w dark hair was quite short and unfriendly. After being ignored for like 15 minutes we had to ask who our server was twice to get service. Drinks are weak and the food while halfway decent is over priced. I brought my 2 kids for dinner. Staff was very nice and there was no one else in the restaurant when we got there, do the service was great. We ordered 2 grilled cheeses that the kids loved and I got the taco special. It was delicious with lots of flavor. When it was time to leave however, 2 other tables had shown up. My server was very nice but she was no where to be found for over 20 minutes to get more ketchup and the check. It soured our experience here. An additional table should not have caused such a delay. My family stayed in the Squaw village and went to dinner here one night. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The menu selection was pretty broad with lots to choose from for different tastes. Good amount of local beers on draft. It was a weeknight but the place was not too crowded. I didn't realize it until I went to the bathroom, but there is a whole back section with a back room. It was a little bit pricey but the food was delicious, so I'd say it was worth it. read more

I was extremely disappointed with staff. We walked up to the doors and just outside there is a sign that says, "please wait to be seated." We waited at the sign and got no help, even though several wait staff walked past us. When we asked someone, she said we had to go inside. We did. We were told it was a 20-30 minute wait. There were at least 5 tables inside empty as well as another ~5 available outside. We were so shocked. Then there is no place to actually wait nearby. We ended up deciding to sit on a couch we found and order drinks at the bar. We were completely ignored by what seemed to be the manager who just....stood there while one female bartender was making drinks. She also proceeded to roll her eyes at us when we tried to get her attention after waiting for awhile. We will most definitely be attending anywhere else for drinks in the future. read more

The salads had brown lettuce, the fish was under a heat lamp too long, and the beer selection was that of a small regional airport. The cherry on top is the waitstaff, some of the most stuck-up little trust fund babies I've come across yet in Cali. The service was quick but damn, the attitudes... I come from DC, the land of ME FIRST, and we've not come across this level of blatant d-baggery in a long time. We'll be back at the end of the month and this is one of two restaurants here at Squaw Valley on our no-fly list. The place was empty so I doubt they'll make it through summer. read more

Lunch: 3 stars Twenty-Two bistro is conveniently located on the base of the mountain and since we were staying at the Villages at Squaw we stopped in on our way back to our room. At first I didn't care for the inside decor of this restaurant and wasn't too impressed by this new bistro. The hostess was flustered at lunch although the place wasn't balls to the walls packed. It was a beautiful day out and a crappy day to be on the slopes (way too icy) so we thought we would take a lounging lunch. The menu is not centrally themed but is pretty global and will catch you by surprise. Their Asian-esque salad with steak and noodles stood out which consisted of udon noodles, steak, mango, avocado, peanuts mixed with a hint of basil and mint. A little too much going on for me but I saw a handful of people ordering this interesting ensalada. I saw the Cuban Sandwich which had the basics with ham, swiss cheese and pickles but the Kurobuta pork caught my attention so I gave it a whirl. You have the option to get a side of salad or homemade chips and I opted for the chips. Not bad. One of my friends ordered the Cobb (I think) and it didn't look out of the ordinary. It was served with a Lemon-Thyme Vinaigrette. My other friend also ordered the Cuban Sandwich and loved it. I thought it was "ok" as one of my favorite restaurant when I lived in Denver was Cuba Cuba where they bread was flown in from Miami (close enough to Cuba). So apparently I'm picky when it comes to Cuban Sandwiches. I was however a huge fan of the Sweet Potato Fries which were served with 3 different dipping sauces. One curry based, Jalapeno infused Ketchup and one creamy looking Aioli. The fries were thin and fried to perfection. Definitely the highlight of our meal. Apres Ski: 3 stars We stopped in for a few drinks around 4pm and this place was one of the more happening spots. Le Chamois was packed with a young beer drinking crowd but Twenty-Two was more my style, older crowd pounding shots, Irish Coffees, Hot Toddies and downing Lemon Drops. Lemon drops were a bit on the sweeter side but I tried the Patron Margarita my friend ordered and it was nice. The house Chardonnay (4 Bears) was surprisingly tasty - a refreshing buttery Chard. I would definitely go back just to try the Potato Bacon Donut Holes. Overall Chef Billy McCullough (who is on board with the Slow Food Movement) has created a solid and interesting menu which will keep customers content. I recommend sitting outside on a nice day as the high bar tables are not very comfortable when you have your ski boots on (they also have semi-booth like sitting too). read more

Nice place. More to the high end. The bar is magnificent with thick marble counters. Not a big place, very quaint. The bartender was top notch. She had the bar menu down and then some. Several Craft beers on tap and a all top shelf spirits. Service was top notch. I do not want to wait to order and waiting for my drink. She was very attentive and took care of our mid sizes group even with the hectic happy hour crowd. I ordered a beer, the Brewers Lair out of Blairsden, California. You can't go wrong with this local regional beer. I was really surprised they had Brewers Lair on tap but then again, this is a special place, Lake Tahoe. The prices are tourist rates $$$$ but you pay for what you get. And what you get here is high end. I'll be back. read more

Ate here today for a late lunch. We walked around the Village at Squaw and checked all the menus - this place won out for the day. Although I think it's because they had $5.00 Sangria today :) A friend and I shared the Ahi tuna BLT and a side of macaroni and cheese. Both were yummy. I preferred the mac & cheese - quite delicious. Another friend got the burger and said it was very good. My husband also got the Ahi tuna BLT and said it was good but that he preferred the one at The Plumpjack Cafe. But they had many things on their menu that I would try on other visits. The appetizer menu was chock full of nummy-looking things! We sat outside as we had our 2 dogs with us. Our view was of the mountain - very pretty and relaxing. Another plus is that their prices were very reasonable. The waitress also brought over some water for the buds (and us too!) without being asked. The best part was that our waitress said they had an over-cooked burger patty from someone's order and offered to us for the dogs. She brought it out cut in half on 2 plates. The buds were SO happy. They vote to eat here every weekend :) So for food I would probably go 3 - 3.5 stars but the extra attention given to my dogs puts them into 4 territory for sure :) read more

Tuna Tower - only about 3-4 chips, curiously topped with whip cream on what is otherwise a savory dish. Way overpriced and very odd tasting. Chicken Satay - decent, but nothing special. Beef Sliders - VERY very salty, and only 2 come with the order. You're better off ordering the full size burger which is the same price but is a bigger serving. Truffled Brussles - nothing truffled about these sprouts... Sweet Potato Fries - tasty as always; serves about 1 per order. I'd come here in a pinch, but otherwise I wouldn't come back. read more

It's food. The wine list appears to be the sale shelf at Safeway; the beer options are better. I ordered salmon which was cooked well beyond edible, however the rice pilaf had so much oil it balanced out the dryness of the hammered salmon. My husband ordered a chicken sandwich. The bun wasn't warmed and the chicken was so overcooked it couldn't even be cut with a steak knife. If you were stranded in your car for 8 hours without food on hwy 80, this will probably be a welcome relief. Otherwise, I'd skip it. read more

Food was good, limited beer choices (end of the season, right now). We had their beets and sweet potato fries - both tasted great. Loved the curry dipping sauce for the fries. Service was good, too. After seeing the price of food at other parts we wanted to try somthing different. I walked in with a party of 6 and was seated in 5 mins. The waiter was super attentive and came by almost every 10 mins. I ordered the Pulled Pork Sando, which was actually really good. It sounded like a weird combo to me but turned out awesome! Also had the sweet potato fries which came with 3 different dipping sauses. Win? Yes sir! You know what else is a win? Their deep fried mashed potatoes balls! I think they are called doughnut holes. We picked this place for lunch because it was the only restaurant that had shade on their patio for our dog. The food wasn't that good. It was super hot so we were looking for a glass of cold beer. Of the 5 on tap, they were out of 2 of them - of course the ones we were interested in. I ordered the hamburger with a side salad. The bun tasted stale and the burger tasted like a frozen Patty. The side salad was a bunch of older salad greens with a couple of candied walnuts. I left most of it. My girlfriend ordered the chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. She liked hers. Service was very slow and I had to ask for everything. There was no attentiveness. Next time we will try one of the other restaurants. read more

That's because one either contracts food poisoning (in which case why go back?) or one can't believe how on earth one failed to contract food poisoning from such poor quality food. Really great experience here after a big day mountain biking. Didn't think we would find many options for food, but 22 was open and the patio was inviting. The staff were attentive, quick and kind, and they were very understaffed, as most restaurants are right now. We had the ahi tower and the Brussels sprouts. Both excellent. The ahi was so good and very nicely served, not a "tower," per se, but wonton chips with a mix of ahi and complementary ingredients. The Brussels were served with an insanely good honey mustard type sauce that paired perfectly with the bacon covered beauties. I had a beer, hubs had the Red Dog Reviver. The cocktail did not disappoint. It was such a great experience we stopped back by after our Day 2 ride up to the TRT. Unfortunately, the restaurant is closing at 4pm right now because they can't find enough staff who would rather work than collect unemployment checks... so until the government stops the hand outs, make sure you visit this great spot earlier, rather than later. read more

This place has a little bit to offer any given situation. It has a wide variety of healthy food that according to the menu is very sustainably grown. If you are health conscious this is a pretty good option especially when stacked up against the other restaurants in the area. I have been to this place many times but I generally like to go there after a long morning of skiing. The beer selection is great and the mid afternoon munchies are on point. Came in here for happy hour because It's literally a stone throw away from my house. Some friends and I enjoyed much of the happy hour menu. The chicken satay had a great peanut sauce to compliment the flavors. The burger was great, we did decided to add bacon and sweet potato fries. My friend tried the fried chicken sliders, which isn't my thing but..... It looked ok. The Brussels were amazing!!!! Get them!!! The food was good the service was great. My major complaint: I asked for a margarita. She gave me a premium without my knowledge. At $11 a pop I felt kind of gouged. I've come in many times for a margarita and was charged an appropriate $9. Maybe our server wanted to give me a superior product, maybe she wanted to make a little extra money..... At this point, I can't tell. Will come back and be more CLEAR. read more

Poor service. I came here with my husband and my 10 month old son. They seated us and brought us a high chair and we sat for 15 mins or longer looking at the menu waiting for someone to take our drink order. I don't think it should have taken as long as it did for someone to come by. While we were waiting, the table behind us complained to the wait staff and they were promptly served but no one said ANYTHING to us. The manager just stands there flipping channels. When I asked him for his help, he copped an attitude that he's not my waiter. Yes, obviously, you're the manager, and you need to f-ing help us after it took us 45 minutes to figure out why we were coming out under is because you OVERCHARGED us a drink and appetizer after your 10% "discount" for the terrible service. Went here with my family and for the most part ordered sliders, chicken sandwiches and sole pitas. The sliders and chicken was ok. I liked my sole fish pita but it wasn't a big portion so I still felt hungry. Their French fries were really good and crispy. The ambiance was a little too dark as we had trouble reading the menus. The wait was ok to get our food and it wasn't as bad as other reviewers mentioned and we went on a Friday night. It wasn't expensive compared to the area.
