My boyfriend and I randomly ended up in Oyster Bay after driving around Long Island with nothing to do and just looking for cool places to take photos. Having never been there and knowing nothing about the place, we decided to stop by because we saw there was a classic car show going on. I used to have a 1960 mercury comet and miss working on it, so I get pretty excited over these things. Walked around a bit and I saw a great looking building -- 20th Century Cycles-- got closer and saw a great looking Ducati in the front window! Wow! Decided to go in and was just amazed by the cycles. All of my favorites! I was so confused. These must all be for sale, right? Is this a show room of some of my favorite motorcycles? And what is with the cooler of beer and glass-bottle coca-cola in the corner? What the hell is going on, where the hell am I? My boyfriend was dying of thirst and we were trying to figure out who the owner was so we could see if he'd sell us a coke out of the fridge. There were two guys in the shop area talking, an older guy with a total 'car guy' beard, and a younger guy with a funny hat. Having been around a lot of 'car and bike guys', both seemed like they could be the logical owner. They seemed busy and I didn't want to interrupt them in order to buy a coke off of them that bad, so I take a bunch of cool photos and leave. Later, I remember the place, want to look it up so I can find out what exactly it is, and realize that the 'car guy beard' is Billy Joel and it's his shop.

We were there on a Tuesday when Oyster Bay had the "classic car" show out along the main avenue. I think it's an event every Tuesday, so check it out. Beautiful, well cared-for cars were everywhere. The motorcycle shop is filled with older, classic motorcycles. Wasn't sure if the bikes were for sale or if this was a museum. If this is your thing, then definitely go. We also happened to see Billy Joel (the owner we learned) there with some friends. What a treat! He then put on a helmet and left on a motorcycle. Each bike had a tag describing the bike and it's history. No prices listed.

One of the coolest hidden gems on Long Island. My family was amazed by this motocyle collection and knowledge of the friendly staff. Perfect location to spend the afternoon in Oyster Bay visiting stores, park, restaurants, and all walking distance to the shop.

The shop is really a place for Billy to share his passion for motorcycles with the rest of the biker /motorcyclist community.

This is an update to my May 2, 2024 Review:…read more At length, about six months after HMS sold my Kymco scooter, I finally heard back from the business: a settlement check - with a letter of apology for the failure to notify me of the sale, and my share of the proceeds. My share was about 25% of the proceeds from the sale. I regarded the settlement as perfectly unfair, and returned the check to HMS - with a letter that detailed my complaint. Again, months passed - awaiting any response. At length, HMS readily agreed to a revised settlement. Yet again, months elapsed until I received a new settlement check - with another letter of profuse apology for the delay. None of this would have occurred without my persistent effort to contact HMS - for information updates regarding the sale of the scooter. My year of contact with HMS leaves the impression of business practice that is almost unimaginably scattered and disorganized. I do not know why HMS appears to be so overwhelmed with routine business tasks. Still, I do not believe that HMS is engaged in any kind of deceptive business practice. Let's hope matters will improve at HMS. Meanwhile, customers would do well to expect the unexpected.

Recently stopped picking up my calls and text message. (718) 938-4472. I think he blocked me…read more. I bought my Tomos Targa limited edition with electric start to his shop. I was not expecting the bill to be so expensive. He will say "I'll try to work with you." First, he said the price was $190, then $650, and finally $950. When I bought it over, I wanted the electrical wires to be connected and the engine running. When I came to pick it up... - The headlights does NOT turn on and off. It always says on. - The turn signals does NOT work - The brake light does NOT work - The horn does NOT work - All the wires were nice and neat when i bought it over. When i picked it up, the electrical wires were dangling everywhere and cut. I asked him what the green wire you cut was and left disconnected. He doesn't know. All this play in the wires, and it still doesn't work. - The electric start does NOT work even though he claimed that the battery needs to be charged. It worked before I bought it over. It would crank when I plug in the battery. I got it back, it was completely dead. - The bike was very clean when I bought it over. It was very dirty and greasy when I got it back. We agreed to fix the engine and wires, but he only fixed the engine for $950 by using "new old stock" parts he claimed. The parts are just used parts, not NOS. Everything that was done was bare minimum. I got so pissed off when I got it back. I wanted to make this bike to look like new again but he only made it worse. I was going to keep it but now I want to get rid of it... my heart was broken when I picked it up. I asked him why isn't all the electric lights working and he said that I have to pay him more to wire it even though I told him on the phone, "fix the wiring and the engine".
