Salad Bar alone would take me back here. While it's not as big as other salad bars (like Nicks in Clive, IA) it's still a great salad bar. Cheese Curds: we like these because they were battered, not breaded. Piping hot, very good. Plain Burger: my son says it was good ‍ but wasn't interested in sharing so I didn't actually try it. Prime Rib: I ordered a medium rare but, unfortunately, it was super dry even with the au jus side. Lately, I've been disappointed more than not by prime ribs that are bland and dry. Sirloin: alternatively, this was very juicy and delicious. Great grill flavor and lovely side of mushrooms. Broasted Chicken: in true "me" fashion, I ordered two entrees. While my salad bar trip was great and my prime rib was so-so, this more than made up for it! Soooooo juicy and flavorful, highly recommend their broasted chicken. Chopped Steak: my husband loves a chopped steak. Don't ask me why, it's not at the top of my list but to each their own. He didn't love the demi glaze on this dish, and thought their beef gravy would be been much better. The demi was "too much wine" flavor. I can't say "too much red wine" is anywhere in my dictionary but whatever. We really enjoyed this dinner, even with the dry prime rib, and plan to go back for that salad bar and broasted chicken. read more

Always a fan favorite. Service with a smile makes a restaurant. It's always part of 209 Main. The food is good. Their burgers rock. Tenderloins too. I really miss the salmon Ruben but the pasta salad is like what my mom used to make so that compensates some. Definitely worth the drive to Paton. read more

Don't blink or you'll miss it. I'm speaking of the entire town of Paton. This is a needle in the haystack of western Iowa. But a great find. Good quality homestyle food and a very large building. They seemed to be slightly understaffed on the Saturday night we visited as they were only seating half the restaurant. This led to a short 5 minute wait for a table. The in-laws just moved about 20 minutes away so I'm sure we will be back. Lots of things on the menu that I'd love to try! read more

The food and service are always excellent. Speed is occasionally slower than we'd like, but the restaurant does serve a very rural area so it is always busy. 209 Main has rustic charm and committed staff. We return as often as possible, and we encourage you to do the same. read more

Decent place for lunch in a desert of gas station pizza options. Service was good and drinks refilled very timely. I had the 209 burger and it was good. My guest had the steak sandwich and he loved it. Atmosphere is pleasant and does not feel like a small town bar. Lots of televisions and nice big booths. Last nite my boyfriend and I went there to eat , was amazing!!!! My boyfriend had fish and chips and I had the 209 burger and Augratin potatoes and butterfinger pie brought some of that home. All amazing. The burger was huge.....had sauce, lettuce ,mater,caramelized onions,cheese,bacon jam....enjoyed it much !!!! We had a great nite away !!!! This place was a HUGE surprise. It is literally out in the middle of nowhere. If you want good American staples and find yourself lost in the middle of a cornfield in Iowa, hopefully you find this place. I had the iowa staple, a tenderloin. Breaded of coarse. Very home style. Tasted like the breading was made from saltine crackers, just like most iowa farm wives would make. Very tender. The menu is almost overwhelming, a lot of great things to choose from. I am in the area a lot and have always looked for a reliable place to have dinner on my way home, this will be that spot. read more

Came here before. Food and service was pretty good. Today (1/9/22) food was okay to bad. Ordered potato slices and they were okay (not as tasty as others, but not bad). We ordered breakfast. My medium well steak was totally charred and tough. My scrambled eggs were cold. Husband ordered hot beef and it was cold! Might come back as it was good before. Blehh! read more

We have been coming here more often since the restaurant in our town closed. We always get great, friendly service. The food is great, lots of variety! My husband and I shared the nachos tonight, and we are both full. Love that they have skeet ball here, fun for the kids. read more

Past experiences has always been good, but last night sadly overshadowed all the good. Appetizers were ordered, onion rings were still frozen or cold biting into them, French fries were not cooked all the way. One entree was never delivered, chicken strips were so overdone that they would be comparable to the Griswald's Christmas turkey. 2 taco salads had a maximum of 4 leaves of lettuce and the meat was so spicy it was not edible. spice is good, but let the customer add the hot spice! Our waitress was great, but the food was a big FAT 0! We won't be going back. read more

We enjoyed a late lunch at 209 Main on the recommendation of my brother-in-law. The sandwiches we had were wonderful! The hot beef sandwich also included a side of corn, so it was a sizable plate. My husband had the fried tenderloin, wonderfully breaded and perfectly cooked. My grilled tenderloin on the triple threat was delicious as were the potato wedges. Butterfinger pie for dessert, creamy but not a frozen pie! We will make the drive again when we come back to visit Boone family. read more

Was back in the area for Christmas and went for lunch. The interior decor is amazing and I was in love with the stone walls and the fireplace. Food was delicious and beer selection was of good. It will definitely be on the list of restaurants to visit when I'm back. read more

Worth stopping in for a bite to eat. Just a heads up the hours and website however are not accurate. They close at 8pm on Sunday's. Sunday's kids eat free which is a bonus! Everyone was happy with their food. Our server was fun and got our orders right. Downside was we waited quite a bit before any one acknowledged or sat us. Drinks also took a little time and refills were hit and miss. Overall good food and service. Menu on website was completely different than the one we received in the restaurant. This is the coolest bar/restaurant in the middle of no-where that you will ever see. They have a full bar, great sound system, pool table, fantastic menu with sandwiches, pizza, burgers, steaks and much more. We visited mid day/ mid week wandered around for about ten minutes and the place was seemingly devoid of customers and staff. Eventually a lady came out from the back and took our bar order. The surrounding town is a snoozer, parking is plentiful. This would be a great place for a lunch stop on a cross country motorcycle or car trip. read more

We enjoy going to this restaurant especially on Sundays for their omelets. Great variety to mix and match ingredients for that perfect omelet. And every Sunday kids eat for free! The restaurant also offers several different types of hamburgers of which I recommend The Tool Bar Burger--delicious. Their buffet is average. Ate at 209 last night for the first time with my folks and was not disappointed. I went with the Toolbar Burger....1/2 ground steak 1/2 ground bacon. Tim The Tool Man Taylor would be all over this and not just because of the name. It's loaded and I added pepper jack cheese. A big and flavorful burger. Also went with the jo jos for the side. Big potato wedges with ranch seasoning sprinkled over them. Highly recommend you to stop if you're in the area. You may want to call ahead too. This restaurant and bar opened in mid 2013. Its as good as it gets. Brand new bar and restaurant facility. Don't let the population of Paton, iowa deter you from stopping and enjoying. The food and atmosphere are outstanding and worth any drive. Local residents and entrepeneurs, Lori and Vaughn Bauer, have hired a top notch manager and chef team. For the first time I had good service! However my food still was horrible. I will not be eating their any longer. I keep going back and hoping it was a one time problem it's not. The chef just needs to find a new job, I ordered wings and they weren't done. Anyone else like to eat chicken that's not done?
