I was treated in a way that I found completely unacceptable. I simply stated that I wished to speak with another employee rather than her, and she lashed out at me. She began screaming and cursing at me, personally attacking me, and confronting me in a way that felt completely out of nowhere, without merit or justification. What should have been a simple request escalated into an unnecessary and deeply upsetting confrontation. What concerns me even more is that I was subsequently accused of things I did not do. I strongly dispute these allegations, and I do not believe it is appropriate for accusations to be made against me without evidence. If there is a question about something that supposedly occurred inside the store, you have cameras throughout the business. I respectfully ask that the footage be reviewed rather than relying solely on one employee's account. If the allegations are accurate, the video should establish that; if they are not, the footage should help clarify what actually happened. I also want to address the issue of my scratching my own lottery tickets. I have occasionally used my own knife to scratch my tickets, and I do not understand how that, by itself, constitutes inappropriate behavior or warrants a personal confrontation. I have never intended to cause a problem for your business or make anyone uncomfortable. I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking for fairness and for the situation to be evaluated based on what actually happened rather than on accusations or assumptions. After being a customer for years, I was extremely disappointed and emotionally affected by how I was treated tonight. I respect your business and would appreciate it if you would review the situation, including the available camera footage, and determine what actually occurred. I believe disagreements should be handled professionally and respectfully, regardless of the circumstances, and I do not believe anyone should be screamed at, cursed at, or personally attacked for requesting to speak with another employee. That's my phrase for them, it's not a trade label. I generally stay away from the "salad varieties" (tuna, egg), but the meat and cheese ones seem harmless. Pretty much my favorite is Deli Express' muffaletta. They take a little poetic license with the original recipe, but I like it just the same. Today I was perusing the cooler at my favorite Chinatown mini mart, and spotted Portland Sandwich Company's version of a "Reuben.' $3.49. I took it back to the office and dissected it. The label lists 64 separate ingredients that make up the corned beef, swiss, bread, and thousand island dressing (which I scrapped off). Two of the more interesting ones were "saurekraut" (sic), and "raisin juice." Hmmmm. Anyway, it wasn't so bad. The bread wasn't soggy from the kraut, which I anticipated, and the meat was passable, much more so than the press/chopped/form ham or turkey one usually gets. The food carts of Portland are great, but remember there are other small businesses in the food arena too. If you get a chance, support the Portland Sandwich Company.
