I'd give this place a '-1' if I could…read more I asked the front desk receptionist to verify my appointment details and she said I have to have a full eye exam before they will do a contact lens exam on me. I asked why she said because I'm due for an exam and when I said ok I will get my regular exam done when my health benefits have refreshed in the summer. She said that's not possible...and argued that the doc will also insist and then another employee came in saying the same thing and then another...who actually left her workstation AND her customer just to come over and say the same thing to me. I asked to speak to the Doc. He came out and with different wording said the same thing basically-it's going to cost me twice as much as what I was quoted on the phone. So I said ok I understand where you're coming from and I'm not interested at this time so I left. (I must have seemed like your typical KAREN at this point...having three other people try and explain the extra charges, but I'm standing my ground here! I would have let it slide, until I got a highly unprofessional comment from one of the girls up front, who said....loudly enough for me to hear it from the other store entrance, as I was leaving....THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I TOLD HER! She said.... Why say that so loudly....she clearly wanted me to hear that! So I called her out on it. I had enough. I said "excuse me! How rude! That is very unprofessional of you. If you have a comment about a customer or if you have an issue with a customer ..... you should keep it to yourself (if you're not discussing it with the customer that is) and be discreet about how you voice that concern. Go somewhere private and talk about it to your boss....Omg...how rude!" I stormed out of there....yes I blew up, yes I lost my cool! I was given wrong information right from the start....I could have waited until July when my benefits are full again, and I'll get my regular exam done then. What a waste of time. 1. I was quoted incorrect price info over the phone 2. It took 4 people to explain their policy to me. 3. They said I HAVE to have a full eye exam, it's in their "by-law". I did ask for more info about this, but they could not provide it. I felt like I was being forced to do it before I was prepared to do so. 4. As I was leaving, one of the employees felt I needed to know that she told me all that already......loud enough so the whole store could hear... This is why I blew up on her. Poor customer Service and very disrespectful behaviour are the main reasons why I will never re patronize this business again.

My mom and sister had complaints about the unprofessional service. I reserved judgement till I had…read morethe same. My experience was, as well, not very professional. I can relate 2 events that disappointed me. When I visit an optometrist, I do not expect my appointment to entail a sales pitch about the optical center or to hear that the glasses I had were sub-standard (because they were not purchased on site). On another occasion, after discussion with the desk personnel I asked to book an appointment 2 years from my last appointment. As it turns out, the date of the appointment I attended was earlier than my 2 years and I was required to pay for the whole appointment as my provider would not cover the insurance portion as it was not a full 2 years. I related the story to the clinic for which they would not take responsibility or apologize. This clinic won't see me return.

If you want to have a very pleasant and knowledgeable experience with people that take their profession seriously; and a company that has a great name recognition in the industry AND the city of Winnipeg... then you have to select Westwood Optical. There are other great options as well in the city... however, one of the "stand-outs" for me personally is that when I experienced some vision issues... I was very concerned and I needed to see a optometrist asap... Being that I was in the area for work purposes... I asked if there was a emergency opening for me... the staff were very understanding and accommodating...I was seen within 10 minutes.. The optometrist was very kind, considerate and very knowledgeable... Long story short, my concerns were addressed and after the thorough analysis... I was given positive reassurances and recommendations. The staff never pressure you to buy anything... they are there to assist you to make wise choices. I would highly recommend Westwood Optical to be your optical choice. Just do me a favor.... tell them "André sent me... from his FANTASTIC review of Westwood Optical" ... Thanks.. ;^) (( I don't receive any benefits from writing this... OR obtaining your help in mentioning to Westwood Optical what I asked... "It will just make me feel... ALL WARM INSIDE" ;^) Have a great day! André Westwood Optical customer..

They checked with the laboratory to see which Varilux X lenses were best for me. They told me that the most expensive lens was not needed. Jocelyn suggested that I reuse my existing frames to save money. Other optical stores wanted to sell me new Silhouette frames if I wanted a guarantee from them. Travis was super helpful (and honest) while helping me pick out frames. He definitely wasn't going to let me leave there with a pair of glasses that didn't look good on me. He told me straight up "No" several times when I was trying on some more outlandish styles. There was a buy one, get one free deal happening on all glasses and prescription sunnies, so I bought a Prada pair, and got my second Ralph Lauren pair free of charge. I was impressed that both pairs were done and ready for pickup exactly a week after I was in there the first time picking out my frames. Travis again promptly gave me a call, and was there to fit the glasses for me when I arrived. The only thing that I found a bit strange (and maybe I'm just the one out of the loop on this or being picky) is that even after spending $700 on glasses, they don't have small bottles of eyeglass cleaner for you to take home. They gave me some pre-moistened wipes after I picked up my glasses; and although super handy for keeping in your purse, are only single use. I'd recommend coming here for your next pair of glasses, especially while they have this great deal going on, they won't disappoint.
