I texted a friend who highly recommended this new shop called nv. I haven't heard of many of the brands they carry which was great - the styles were anything from conservative to way out there funky. I found something in between. Definitely something for everyone here and yet very unique from the typical shop. Attentive, informative staff helped throughout my visit. Highly recommend. Adding to my previous post, we recently received two new pair of glasses that we ordered from Toronto. Just like in-store the service was spectacular. We spoke to Victor who is one of the owners and he coordinated with the other owner Nadine to make sure the prescription was correct. It was fast and efficient and we got a style that was hard to find (and more expensive!) in Toronto. Wish this shop was closer to us but with this type of service even if we can't be there we'll order again.

I can relate 2 events that disappointed me. When I visit an optometrist, I do not expect my appointment to entail a sales pitch about the optical center or to hear that the glasses I had were sub-standard (because they were not purchased on site). On another occasion, after discussion with the desk personnel I asked to book an appointment 2 years from my last appointment. As it turns out, the date of the appointment I attended was earlier than my 2 years and I was required to pay for the whole appointment as my provider would not cover the insurance portion as it was not a full 2 years. I related the story to the clinic for which they would not take responsibility or apologize. This clinic won't see me return.

If you want to have a very pleasant and knowledgeable experience with people that take their profession seriously; and a company that has a great name recognition in the industry AND the city of Winnipeg... then you have to select Westwood Optical. There are other great options as well in the city... however, one of the "stand-outs" for me personally is that when I experienced some vision issues... I was very concerned and I needed to see a optometrist asap... Being that I was in the area for work purposes... I asked if there was a emergency opening for me... the staff were very understanding and accommodating...I was seen within 10 minutes.. The optometrist was very kind, considerate and very knowledgeable... Long story short, my concerns were addressed and after the thorough analysis... I was given positive reassurances and recommendations. The staff never pressure you to buy anything... they are there to assist you to make wise choices. I needed to replace my glasses as mine were trashed beyond repair. I made an appointment to pick…read moreout frames, showed up on time and waited for 30 minutes in a less than busy office. THIS was WITH an appointment, I asked if I got the time wrong and was taken care of immediately. Eyewear promised in 7-10 days, it took about 7, thumbs up there. I called when they arrived and was told I can't get in to pick them up for another week. Last time I will ever shop there! It's too bad because the optometrist was awesome.

I had perfect eyesight but didn't know my alphabet and my speaking skills and comprehension wasn't good at that age. I finished the eye exam with the optometrist concludng that the 5-year old needed priscription glasses. I had no idea what glasses were or what they were meant to do at the time, but I was told to keep them on all the time so I did. As I grew, my eyes developed with the glasses, they grew to depend on them and even made my eye vision progressively detoriate with each year. I had to then get stronger and stronger glasses. Stuck wearing priscription glasses now, my biggest regret is not knowing what wearing glasses does when you dont need them. The worse part is knowing how much money your parents have spent on glasses for you over a lifetime... they're unbelievably expensive.
